I bought a new master touch that came with a chipped bowl. I got a replacement bowl and of course threw away the directions. I’m glad you have this video. Thanks!
Thank you Tom for the tutorial. I am working on a 2008 model kettle and the one touch rod was so over rusted I couldn't tell where the notch was to attempt to pull the rod out. Some WD-40, wire Bush and your video provided success even without seeing the notch. Appreciate your no frillz videos Tom!
Great job! It's nice to follow after someone who came through the install without a major corrosion problem. I'm doing mine tomorrow, thank you very much!
I'm a 65-year-old female with a 26" Weber Kettle and I just replaced the One Touch Cleaning System today all by myself. If you think it's hard on a 22" Weber, try it on a 26" Weber! *LOL* This took some ingenuity, but what I did was run string through the bottom of the handle holes of the blade system and then dropped the string through the bottom of the kettle to hold the blade system in place at the bottom of the kettle when I flipped the grill over to install the washer and handle to the underside of the kettle. This worked great!
Thank you for sharing this! The old handle was all rusty in my 22 inch kettle and I had no clue about how to remove it. With a little help from my friend WD40 and your video I got the job done. Now waiting for the new parts to be delivered to my door step in the Netherlands.
Great work Tom. I did mine about a month ago on an 18+ year old Performer (been using a lot of lump, which leaves a lot of debris). Getting the old handle out was a pain, but after that and a brick to hold the blades down while inserting the new handle, it was pretty simple. Thanks for posting!
Very helpful video! I just deep cleaned/painted and replaced parts on my Weber. If it wasn’t for this video I would probably have grown a couple grays 😂
Glad this ended up in my suggested videos. All the fins have been broken on mine for quite some time, and I've been putting off fixing it. Now that I know it's an inexpensive part and pretty easy to change, I'll finally get it done.
Had a master touch arrive with the bottom damaged. Sent me a new piece and had to swap the ash cleaner with no instructions since they sent literally just the bottom part of the kettle. Thanks for this!
Mine was so rusted I had to beat it to death but I finally got the old off and waiting for the new one to arrive this evening thanks for the help grill on brother🤙
Had the same problem as you installing ,but great to have vent control back again ,mine lasted 12 years before replacement . Cutting through in oversized charcoal going through the vent slots is the biggest killer of the one touch cleaning system.
Man one of mine rusted through and only have two left on it. All the other instructions and tips I have read said they all had to get a grinder to take the old one off. You made it look simple. My Weber is about 14 years old, so I think it might be a task to get off. Thanks for sharing.
The trick to replacing the 7444 is finding the right screwdriver. A screwdriver that will fit into the gap properly to allow you to torque the rod down to twist it.
Is the replacement part a little bit thicker than the original? I've replaced gas tubes for grills in the past and the replacement parts always seem a little bit better built. Please tell me this is true of the sweepers. Also, thanks for the tutorial! Excellent work!!!!
I watched your video and did this today...easy peasy! Thanks for the video. I'm impressed with the cleanliness of your grills...I have 10 years of baked on crust on mine - I cleaned some off today before the install. Any hints for cleaning up an embarrassingly cruddy grill?
Thanks for watching Heather! Elbow grease and a cleaner of your choice. Make sure anytime you use cleaners on the inside of your grill to burn it off on high for 20-30 minutes before cooking on it
Seems like you could reasonably just remove the old one, bend it back so it has better fitment, then just remount it. Edit: Just read your reply to the other guy. That makes sense. I think for my purposes I’ll just keep my old one and bend it back. Mine is about 3 years old, I think they probably still have some good life in em. Thanks for the video. It was helpful
I had an old Weber and the unit I bought made in China I couldn’t line the blades in closed position so my blades are in the closed position half way between closed an open?
What about the clips that hold the basket near the legs?, 2 of mine broke off so had to just take the basket off, any tips? The pic is right at 3.00mins is what i mean.
I had a blade up like that so I bought a new kit and then bent the original back in place. I had a spare just in case I broke it. So far it’s holding its proper shape. I’m more careful to remember to do a complete sweep while things are still at temp. I think gunk got in there and hardened at ambient temp. When I went to start the grill next time is when I think I bent mine. Always do a complete sweep before letting the briquettes burn down or before you shut it down.
Very nice job Tom of explaining your steps. My 26" weber does have this problem and I never gave it a thought when looking at problem and just kissed it off. Know knowing it can be fixed and thanks to you and this video I now have no excuse in taking care of mine.... adding this to my todo list. Thankfully I am using the MB right now and that has taken the pressure off of placing this fix near the top of my list :)
I just replaced the fins on my 18" Weber. Was an older model, with the big nut and thumb screw holding it together. Was assured this set up would work. Wonder if maybe the older kettles are a bit thicker ? Was an EXTREME pain to get the sweep handle started. I think my cussin cleaned out the kettle,,,,,,. It IS a little tight, especially compared to a new grill, but $20, and a little cussin, beats $120 for a new grill.
If anyone is still looking for help. I found that a paint can lid opener works well to get the rod out. Jam the tool under the rod and lift it up, turn the rod at same time. I also lightly tapped the middle piece to loosen rust.
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I find that the plastic scrapers from Lodge works great for cleaning the bowl. They’re used for cleaning cast iron, but have a rounded corner and also flexes to scrape the bowl nice and clean. Doesn’t scratch the Weber finish either.
NIce video Tom. Stillt hink that is one of the coolest webers - and keep my eye oncraigs for one. So far someone else nicks it just before i get in contact with the sellers...
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Thank you as well! The installation was painless with the Weber parts. I sprayed everything with dry silicone to reduce any chance of corrosion.
Tom, I am just beginning to clean up my Weber Performer Deluxe. I picked it up use for $250 a couple of years ago. It was virtually brand new! That said, one of my "blade" of the cleaning system is now bent just like yours in the video. I have already cleaned out the bowl using a citrus based grill cleaner but it is not as clean as I am hoping for. What did you use to clean out your bowl, especially in the vent area? Thanks, Tom

Tom what is the device mounted to the handle at 0:23? Round silver device with an American flag. Thanks
