This is a really good review and I appreciate it. I'm in the market for a boat and hyper speed isn't required. Just enough boat/motor for 2 men and 2 Boykin Spaniels. I'm liking this.
They’re great boats. I’ve really enjoyed mine. If you’re interested - I put up another video showing some upgrades and modifications I’ve made in the last two years.
I got the 1548 MXV (Green but got Power Tilt/Trim as an option) last year absolutely love it. Installed a 14" bar and Pods, Garmin SV9, 45lb Motorguide, Dual Battery Switch with mounted Tender, and hour meter. There's not much you cant do with a boat like this if you're into customizing.
hey good video i have the 2015 edition and is it a very good boat for fishing and hunting ,you can walk all around on the side no problem .for fishing the speed is good and got a very good maneuverability , the only down side is the engine wen i go hunting i have the same blind 10 lbs of grass and i put ceder in addition of the grass to cut the line .the boat got very slow because im to heavy . hunter decoys wet blind .... i hunt in canada .... wjsh i could fix a mud motor on it for hunting ...
Love the boat man how much people can fit in that because I also have kids as well can a family of five in it or what would you recommend as a size for a tracker boat for a family of five
I have a wife and 4 kids, and we’ve all been on it together. It won’t go very fast, maybe 15-17 mph when it’s loaded like that. If I had to do it over, I’d go with at least a 17 ft. boat with a 60hp (or more) motor on it.
I got it off of Amazon. A company called NiLight. I’ve had good luck with them over the last few years, just replace their hardware with non-rusting nuts/bolts.
@@BadAtHunting Thank you...I saw the nilights....but they were so big...I liked your smaller low profile ....then I looked again just now and saw yours. I'll have to paint mine up as well. Thanks again. Good luck this season hunting.
Have you experimented with the different heights for Motor? Mine came stock with motor set high like yours but had cavitation and turning difficulty (skipping). Now fine since lowering motor down as far as it will go. Do you have any problems with yours set at the high position?
I haven’t had too much trouble. Mine is also mounted higher- which I’ve also thought about changing. I’ve wanted to put a jack plate in it, so I can move the motor back a bit. Do you get a higher top speed with it now?
Yeah, I agree - for the price it’s a pretty good deal. Hard to beat an all-inclusive package for a new boat that’s only 10k. (Obviously 10k is a lot of money, but in the boating world - that’s on the cheaper side)
@@BadAtHunting Thanks! Will do - looking forward to it. I'm debating between this boat and a Tracker Classic XL which has an almost identical price point, has a few more bells and whistles and 40hp, but would be a fishing only boat that forecloses duck hunting...
Mine, fully loaded with two guys and gear, goes about 25mph. There is another video on my channel where I do a top speed run- that might be helpful to you.
@@BadAtHunting I’m a park ranger in Virginia and I just put in a for a promotion to leave Shenandoah and got to smith Mountain Lake the biggest lake in VA and was looking at this boat to buy. But trying to do as much research as I can on this boat thanks for all the videos by the way.
I have hunted 3 people in it and it does pretty well. The blind I use is the beavertail 1600. I have a full review of that blind, and how it fits onto my boat, in another video on my channel if you’re interested.
Yeah, I think mine (the 1548) was the las year they made it. If I had to do it again, I would have went for the larger one (1654) with the bigger 40hp motor. Good luck finding a boat, and happy hunting/fishing.
The entire package (with title, taxes, fees) was right around 13k. That included everything you need to take the thing out on the water right away: boat, motor, trailer - everything but the gas in the tank. Hope that helps.
6 year owner of this boat. Please people, DO NOT BUY GRIZZLY OR TRACKER BOATS. It will be a good boat for a couple of years until the foam that put in it soaks up with water. You'll soon realize through a few years that the boat will get water logged and be as slow as Christmas

A jackplates will do wonders for getting more speed and more shallow water running
@@BadAtHunting one negative bwith these little two cylinder motors and jackplates, I found they amplify some vibration to hull.
I love gryzly boats, we went with one and next year I hope to buy one
@@BadAtHunting I also have a clip on the TH-cam channel where you can see
Awesome. Definitely looking between the 1654 or war eagle with mud motor.
If I had a choice now, I’d try the war eagle with the mud motor.

Yeah, a mud motor on this thing would be awesome. Good luck up there in Canada.
Great video sir. I’ve been wanting one of these something terrible
Almost looks like my xpress hd16db but mine has a live well and a carpeted rod box that holds about 7 rods up to 8 feet long
Nice review and good camo job!
Thanks man.
Does the service team add lower unit oil before the customer buys it ? Just bought this setup and I’m wondering before taking it out to break in .
Our was ready to run- straight from the dealer.
@@BadAtHunting gotcha they said the same to me , but I went to start breaking it in and the thought ran across my mind 😂
Yeah, always good to double check. :)

Doe it pop wheelies? Great vidya - not many for this boat on the web? I really think this is the best value for fishing.

nice review ----nice boat !!
Thanks man.
How did you wire your lightbar and switch?
How fast does your boat run? I have a 1436 with a 20horse and I goes about 27 mph??
Mine, fully loaded with two guys and gear, goes about 25mph. There is another video on my channel where I do a top speed run- that might be helpful to you.
Could you comfortably hunt with three people out of it?
that was really helpful! Thanks
Thanks man.
I’ve been researching this boat just the 1654 , have you had any issues with bad welds?
I haven’t had any trouble with that, everything’s held up great for me. (We’ve not babied it either)
I also have a few other videos on the channel that feature this boat if that’s helpful.
@@BadAtHuntingthank you sir!
No problem. Good luck with whatever you decide to purchase.
Did you ever add seat bases to the floor?
You think you could put a surface drive mud motor on this boat? Or do you think the pods would get in the way
@@BadAtHunting that’s what I was thinking

Any issues with water logged foam?
I haven’t yet, but I’ve heard it can become a problem.
Flotation foam has nothing to do with how high the boat rides in the water...
It’s only there to prevent it from sinking
Take the foam out...flood it.....then see how high the boat sets in the water.
@@davidhefner5668 then wait a few years for the foam to saturate, then try again.
How much do your boat and trailer weigh, and do you like your mercury outboard?? thank you!!
I forgot the weight. But the merc outboard works great.
Is that bimini on the ground for your boat? If so, how does it work for you?
@@BadAtHunting Thanks. I'll check it out. I'm at the age when heat is a real problem for me. haha

Is there any upgrades you’ve done to it that you like?
Hows it hunting with 2 people and a dog? Interested in buying this boat
It works great. I usually put my dog on the bow, and that gives plenty of room for us to sit and move around.
Appreciate the reply. It’s hard to find this size now. Talked to bass pro today and they are only making 16ft one. And price is a little steep.

That's too bad about the pole cabinet length. Under 6.5 is unreasonable.

Crazy, I’ve never heard of this happening. Is this what happened to yours?
These are not reasonably priced boats, starting at about $5000. No trailer…no motor…bare boat. That’s allot of money!
