- This is my favorite boat to build. Weldbilt 1652. When it comes to a welded boat, you're not going to find a much cheaper price than a Weldbilt. Plus, they are one of the lightest welded hulls on the market. They might even be at the top of the list. For comparison
Tracker Grizzly 1648 weighs 640# (CRAZY!)

Now, some of these hulls are .080 and some are .100 (plus they come in different styles), so the comparison is not exactly the same. However, one of my typical full builds usually comes in around 150-175# That puts you all in under 500# Obviously, the weight distribution is critical, but I've got this down to a science! People always ask how my boats run so fast with small outboards... well, there's your answer. You cant forget about jackplates (motor height, and setback) and Props. Everything has to be just right and fine tuned for each boat!

Cool boat. I don’t like the pointy front end. It’s wasted space. It looks cool though.
That's the best part. It cuts the water, and makes the bow super strong.

@timburton9514 idk? I love the nose on these weldbilts. They are my favorite rigs to build out. I just wish the had a rectangular gunnel cap instead of the pipe. It would save me hours...

It was welded in position. Vertical tig on this stuff can be challenging.
If vertical tig is challenging for you then you shouldn't be welding boats. Js
great video. Since you asked, Id love to see a video of you doing UMHW to the bottom of the Weld Bilt!
That is something I do want to venture into, but I dont think it will be on this project. After seeing how many bolts went into the UHMW on the jetboat build i would definitely use the weld on anchors.

I have a big Jon boat with that has aluminum floor front and bad deck. 28 hrs old. 96” wide by 20’ long. Tunnel. That evidently has held water in middle see that now I am getting small holes in it mean8ng there is corrosion setting in. Is there any way to replace boor boat or just keep patching till time to throw away?

Great video, thanks! Question: what is the hull of this boat like? Absolutely flat, or does it have a gentle V? I am looking for an inexpensive boat to use in a strong river and in saltwater delta of the pacific ocean. Generally flat calm water, but occasional heavy chop and sudden squalls so it has to be sea worthy (inshore, along the mangroves). Is this the boat?
This is a semi V
Those side supports are intentionally not welded all the way in. Lots of designs call for pieces to not be welded fully to allow for flex, if you full weld it and make it rigid it will crack under stress.
Lets be foreal. Ive personal spoke to the guys at weldbilt. These weld locations are not specified by an engineer. It's up to who is working the shift your boat is built.
Is it fully flat on the bottom in the back or is there still some deadrise to it? I’m looking for a light mod v that comes to fully flat for duck hunting so I can slide over everything without problems
It's pretty much flat. The v in the back is so small. You almost can not see it.

Awesome. I didn't realize you were in my area even after watching at least a dozen of your videos for the last few months while nerding out on jon boat mods.
I just got ahold of a 1436 jon for me to learn how to mod, repair, and paint.
I commute down to Elizabeth City, NC every day to work on aircraft down there. I have been watching everyone modify and create sheet metal work to modify aircraft for a very long while now as I was fabricating/installing aircraft wiring harnesses and much more.

I went and did my first brazing on it yesterday evening. Went way faster than I thought it would. It was almost like soldering but a bit different.
Just a few dents to repair now before the trailer arrives... then I can start taking her out a few times before I start modding heavily in a few months.

Yes they are nice. Ive never built one out but id recommend G3

Was f***ing agonizing trying to figure out the brand of the boat, until I realized you were not saying that it was a well built boat, but that was a "weld built". I was like come on dude, what is it?!?! Edit: anyway....went to the website, then to every dealer site, no prices anywhere. I guess they have zero interest in actually selling boats, just advertising them for funsies.
Lol i said the name a dozen times and its in the thumbnail. Idk man. Search weldbilt dealers near me. Ive never had an issue. Look up Backwoods landing they have prices on thier website.
