MoMarsh Ramp Stand FULL REVIEW! Dog ladder for boats.
Does the service team add lower unit oil before the customer buys it ? Just bought this setup and I’m wondering before taking it out to break in .
Our was ready to run- straight from the dealer.
@@BadAtHunting gotcha they said the same to me , but I went to start breaking it in and the thought ran across my mind 😂
Yeah, always good to double check. :)
I have a 1400 and it’s small on a 14’ … upsize like you said
I totally agree.
Volume doesn’t matter, anyone that’s been wet in the woods knows it’s a time thing. It needs time to soak through. Any outer garment can withstand water for short periods, but few will still be dry underneath after 2 hours in the rain especially when moving in tougher terrain.
Yeah, I agree. It’s true that the fabric needs to be able to withstand continued soaking. The point of this video was only to show its ability to resist water under pressure. Like a driving rain, or spray from a boat, that is trying to force its way into the zippers, or seams. Kuiu does claim the bag to be “fully submersible” and completely waterproof. We’ll put it to the test this duck season.
What’s in your bag?
How do you have you gopro on your hat like that?
I few years back I got the ActionHat DIY kit off of Amazon. Its worked great since.
@@BadAtHunting nice !great video too btw
@LC-hq6hc thanks man. We’ll be making a lot more this fall- so stay tuned. :)
@BadAtHunting sounds good I'm in central valley ca. Maybe I'll see you out at the refuges if that's where you hunt😁
@LC-hq6hc yeah I’m usually out in mendota or los banos. Just save some birds for me.
Looks delicious!
Thanks. The kids worked hard on this one.
What resources have you used?
Watching ducks? The lemaster method book is a great tool but new hunters shouldn’t be identifying ducks once they’re dead. They need to able to tell what they’re shooting at in low light.
@DoItYourselfRC I agree. Obviously nothing can replace being outside and studying/watching the real thing. This book helps detail their patterns and behavior in flight as well. It’s been a great tool for me to use, and share with my kids/friends.
If only I could hear your voice over the music....
Haha. Yeah - it wasn’t the best editing I’ve done.
So I’m kinda new to dove hunter by myself without my dad going with me I’m having some trouble on spotting doves or more so being able to tell if they are dove. Like how do they fly how fast do their wings flap. I don’t know. Maybe I just looking for some pointers on how to spot them bc by the time i actually tell they are past my head over the wood line
If they’re gray and go dededede when they jump and fly. You got dove lol
They fly pretty quickly, and can have an irregular wing-beat. Most of the time they seem to fly low, around 5-20 ft off the ground. Most of the time I’m looking for their profile. They have a backward swept wing, and resemble more of a small hawk in flight. Pigeons are fatter, and more round. Sparrows are smaller and tend to dive and rise in flight. So you’re looking for something in between those two. But really like you already said, once you hunt them a few times- you’ll be able to ID them easier. Hope that helps. Enjoy your hunts and stay safe.
If I ever upgrade to a motor that'll charge my battery, I'll probably add a lot of electronics to mine. But, since I'm starting the motor and running the fish finder on the same deep cycle battery I hesitate to add anything else.
Yeah, you definitely don’t want to overburden your battery, and then have it fail. I run a smaller boat too, that has a small lithium battery- not connected to the motor. That way if my electronics die, I won’t be stuck.
@@BadAtHunting I run my LED running lights on a small 3.4 amp/hour sealed lead acid battery that I've ran continuously for 9 hours and never ran it down. Those lithium batteries are lighter, but considering the cost and how little I use my lights, it works for me and the weight difference in a small battery like that isn't even noticeable. Now, if I had to carry it that would be different. My little battery sits in a plastic case under the front seat until needed. It hooks up with two spade terminals and is held in place in the bow with some Velcro. I'm all about making things as simple as possible! If I ever do run down my deep cycle battery I can always pull start it. It's just a 25hp Evinrude, so I'm not stranded if it does run down!
God I'm glad I found this vid. Ordered. But! question for you from a newb: where do you get that grass? Is that literally just from a hay bail? Thanks Jebediah!
@benca101 glad it was helpful. I got the blind grass from JStern Co.
Dude is a 🤡. That’s a ringneck & limit on scaup is 2. To improve at calling, one must put in time & practice. Not just going to magically happen overnight 😅
Thanks for the heads up. He knew what it was. He was just trying to mess with me- to say that he got his ‘limit’. Obviously most of the conversation was cut from the video- since you can’t keep everything from 4 hours of filming in an 8 min video.
Where do you run your dog from?
They make dog doors that you can sew into the side, but I haven’t done that. Most of the time he just sits ‘exposed’ on the bow. The ducks don’t seem to mind.
Actually, he sits exactly where you see him in the thumbnail.
Very informative thank you!
Thanks.
Now do the front cap of that TT. That's what I'm looking to do on my faded unit
What hat is that?
It’s a Sitka Trucker hat that I put a GoPro mount on.
How'd it work out with spray adhesive AND the already on it 3m stuff?
It works great. I don’t think it will ever come off. Have you used Hydro-Turf before?
@BadAtHunting yeah I did the spray on only and it worked out great but was a pain to install
We always have ran 7 and half’s or 8ths with lead but that’s why they are running 6 size shot because it’s steal correct me if I’m wrong
Yeah, the steel isn’t as dense, so you’re right- a larger shot size can help it stay lethal at distance.
Where did you get the lights for the sides that you cut in?
They are from Amazon. NiLight is the brand I believe.
Looks pretty good man 👍🏽
Thanks.
This is the 10 foot boat? And went with the 6.5 backwater?
Yeah 10’ Jon boat. The Backwater motor gets it going pretty good. It’s sketchy enough with only 6.5hp- I don’t think I’d want anything bigger.
Follow along for more.
Add a velcro square on back and have receiver velcro to front dash panel✔️
That’s a good idea. I’ll have to try it out.
Awesome Video....... I might have missed it but what grit sand paper did you use?
I think it was 80. Hope that helps.
IM looking at getting one of these blinds for my tracker grizzly 1754 sc. How do you yourself get in and out of the blind? lift the bar and crawl under?
Yeah the entire blind folds onto one side, so you just flip it up, and get out from it. The trouble I did have was for my dog. On every retrieve we’d have to flip the blind over to let him out/back in. Beavertail does sell a ‘dog door’- but we never had one put in.
Steel? Never shot it. Good old lead slinger here.
Some good dove fields are in what is classified as a wetland and require non-toxic shot even if hunting species other than waterfowl that we normally think of with steel. That said, some of the bismuth options are dramatically better than steel and not as expensive as tungsten. They aren’t needed for dove though.
Using a extended side impact would be great
Loved the vid, super informative where I needed it. Any downsides to the quick release over the years yet? Didn’t know it was a thing and just removed my trolling motor to rebuild and make the blind fit on my 15 tracker sportsman but would prefer a easy swap for fishing
Yeah, the quick release has held up really well. To me, it’s completely worth it.
Realistically are you getting 3, 200lbs dudes in that boat?
I’ve only done it a couple times, but it really isn’t meant for three guys. I’d say two guys, a dog, and some gear is all I’d want to put in it.
The music is so wholesome I love it and thx for the tutorial <3
Thanks. I’m glad it helped.
you deserve a comment
Haha. Thanks.
Do the ducks actually get tricked by this if it’s just floating in the middle of the water? I’ve thought about getting one but I always wonder if it would actually trick them
Yeah, it works better if it’s tucked up alongside some other brush/trees. There was a couple times I just parked it in the middle of the river and I still got ducks.
how much space did you leave between the bunks and boat?
At first I didn’t do enough, only a few inches, but it rubbed on the side of the boat. After that I moved it to be about 6” away on each side- and it’s worked great since then.
Does anyone that has purchased this tach know if you can lengthen the cable? It would make more sense to have it by my steering console.
Yeah, you’re right that putting it on your console would make more sense but I’m not sure I’d know how to lengthen it.
Do you still need type A or type B to enter if you join the nonprofit? Great hunt always a blessing to hunt with your kid
Yup, no pass needed if you’re on private land. You just have to have your license, ca/federal duck stamps.
@@BadAtHuntingthanks for the reply and keep up your good work !! Love watching your video
@Skunk1337 thanks man.
I’m looking at this boat what top do you have for it?
If you’re asking about the Bimini- nothing special, just an Amazon find. The hunting blind (which I’m not sure is in this video) is a beavertail 1600.
I’m just saying I have a 1652 alweld and there’s zero chance I’m putting 6 people in it. Especially my children. It’s a 3 person boat when it’s not loaded down. Smh
Good for you. :)
@@BadAtHunting actually bad for you my man. I wasn’t trying to be an asshole I was just pointing it out to other people that might watch this and try the same thing. You’ll see when your local wildlife agent stops you. :)
Thanks for clarifying. Enjoy your time out on the water.
I’m looking for a cheap small boat to do the same thing
Here's the question - "do the handwarmer pockets fill up with water?" I do not see zippers on those pockets. They look like they would be full of water within a second or two. Many times, I am in water that comes right to the top of the waders (duck hunting)... decoys, a random deep hole, and more. Those side pockets appear to be lower than the top of the waders. Again, if a person is wading in water that is at the top of the wader, will those handwarmer pockets fill with water? I am not concerned about the front zipper pockets; I can deal with those; at least there is a taped zipper for those. As you mentioned, those pockets may get a little damp inside but that's to be expected. It's usually only for a short time so I can take a chance on the zippered pockets. However, if those side handwarmer pockets are wide open with no zipper, they would almost have to flood full of water. Another concern - I'm in the Midwest; in the fall and especially late season, we can get very heavy rain with wind and very heavy snow with wind. At times, conditions can be extreme. Would snow blow into those pockets, if they are not manufactured with a zipper? I can run into a Cabela's or a Scheels and check it but I want to hear from someone who has actually hunted and has actually used those waders hard. I realize that you don't get into snow but this is common sense. It seems that if Sitka manufactures those pockets with no closures... that is a problem. We're talking about $1,000.00 for these waders. If you see this, thank you.
Yes, the hand warmer pockets are open to water coming in.
@@BadAtHunting Thank you for responding. I appreciate it. Also, subscribed.
For those here saying raptor liner is better than herculiner then you need to watch Farm Project testing on roll on bedliners cause Herculiner beat Raptor and actually the testing he completed showed that neither Heculiner nor Raptor won. DuraBak-18 came out on top then EGC and then Herculiner. Raptor actually came in 4th
I watched a guy do some testing on all the major bed liner brands and he did a pretty good job, like adding 15 lbs weight to a garden tool and dragging it over the finish so it was reproducible between tests. The Herculiner did pretty well. But what it didn’t do well with was extreme heat it started to get soft at temps that can occur in an area like phoenix. So that is something to consider.
@OrangeTree253 - I haven’t seen the testing you’re talking about, but I live in central ca. and today it’s 117* - so far the Herculiner has held up great.
@@BadAtHunting that is about phoenix level, and good to know. I ended up buying the raptor stuff and put it in yesterday. I should have worn gloves, cannot get it off my hands and fingers. What a marvelous product, lol
Yeah, I had the same trouble with the Herculiner. It was a pain to clean off.
Yeah I watched that video as well, for my bed I’m using Heculiner, to paint the whole truck I’m using Raptor.
How has it held up 3 years later? Im thinking about getting one in a few months. Would you still recommend today?
Are you up near sonoma?
No, but I’ve heard that can be a great place to hunt.
What grit sandpaper did you do??
I went with a very rough grit, I think it was an 80.
@@BadAtHunting you should have went with the 120. Also I wish you started the video before the prep because I haven’t seen any videos of GMCs
Mine didn’t look much better before the prep- it’s been used by a contractor. :)
Do you believe the hydrowave works and helps you catch more fish? I have been on the fence about getting one.
I’m not too sure. A lot of pros use them, but I didn’t want to spend the $400 on the regular version- so I went with the hydrowave mini.
YOU WERE NO SHAKING IT HARD LOL!! YOU HAVE TO SHAKE IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT BRO THIS STUFF IS THICK! You were shaking it like a salt shaker!
Yeah, it is thick.
Does it make your boat tippy at all?
That’s a good question- no not really. I’m sure if it was a smaller boat, that might be a problem but for this 16’ long 48” wide tracker - it’s no trouble.
I thought I was a genius when I came up with duck nuggets then I looked it up and found out they already exist😭
Did you do yours any different?
@@BadAtHunting no, I didn’t even make them I just thought of the idea lol
Do you have to keep that bacon grease in the fridge?
I do, because I heard it extends its shelf life.
Only thing I don't like about this review is the very loud and distracting background music. Good job otherwise.
Yeah, i agree. I was still trying to figure out how to edit, and I don’t think I got the levels right. Hopefully my new stuff is a little better.
Follow along for more.
Raptor is so much better without the issues.
I’ve never used raptor liner, but I’ve heard good things.
