You're comparing a welded boat (Grizzly) to a riveted boat (Alumacraft), hence the higher price and thicker hull material in the Grizzly. A better comparison would've been the Alumacraft MV1650TL which is a welded Jon boat.
True welded vs riveted. That’s why the hull is thicker and double the price. Also the alumacraft has a max hp of 35 but they said they put a 30 on it? Something is confusing and isn’t adding up on the engine for that one

I wanna do a tracker build, seems like people are getting 30mph out of them with a 30hp motor. just want something that’s going to be cheap to maintain cheap to tow and easy to fix. Bass boats are just to expensive and you have to worry about so many things on a fiberglass boat. I try to take it easy in the rough stuff because it's just hard on everything. Even a welded boat I'd take it just as easy. It is a stiff little boat, even at top speed nothing is flexing. And I don't just fish out of it, it's my duck boat and we get rough on them sometimes. Don't regret my boat at all!
I bought my grizzly 1648 in 2018 for 1,999$ boat only trailer was 999$ Suzuki 30hp was around 4k minn kota 45 lb 12v was about 150$ no spot lock and it doesnt work well on windy days. Got a helix 5 no GPS for around 350$. Prices on the grizzly has doubled the past few years.Good small lake and river boat. I sunk mine on lake Erie. It won't sink but I did fill it up with water. Not good for big waves. Got it very clean back at the boat dock took an hour for all the water to drain out.
I had an aluminum Sea Nymph growing up, 14' with a 50hp Johnson on the back and we beat the snot out of that boat. Then as an adult I went Glass, but my last one aggravated me so I bad I haven't bought another boat since. My son wanted a boat so I found a used Lund 16', We are going to build it up for Walleye and Bass. I would appreciate the links to the accessories Thanks.
But if you go with the grizzly that already has a trailer and motor you come in cheaper. And you get a little side console driving position. Then just add your extras and you'll be about 18.5 to 19
Personally I feel there are A LOT of great boats in this category. Pick the one you like the floor layout in, and has a .100 or .125 hull thickness. Alweld, Reaper, Havoc, excel, SeaArk, G3, war eagle, Thor, timber creek, stump jumper, etc. Personally I have a 17’ Havoc and while the fit and finish isn’t great with beautiful welds but it’s a dang tough hull that rides and handles great with a very functional layout for how I use the boat with sand bar runs, fishing the river, and why I bought the boat duck and goose hunting with my buddies.
That’s crazy that the 16 foot tracker with that stuff is 19 when they have the 18 foot 150 hp tournament series with Livewell 24 V min Kota compartments consul electronics decks for the same price with trailer everything
You may want to revise your thoughts when it comes to tracker grizzlies after watching tricked tins rebuild I was shocked I may not consider putting my money into a waterlogged boat

Tracker is a much less quality boat than Alumacraft hands down. Get a boat where you can get warranty work done. They all will need it. Just how far you will have to drive for it.
I like your videos Sir! I own a 2018 Tracker Grizzly 1448 MXV with a 2018 Evinrude E- tec 25 short shaft. It will do 28mph with two fat guys and over 30 mph with 1 person! The boat is rock solid no flex THE hull is solid. I have about 11 grand invested total. WITH helix 9 & 55 lbs thrust Minn Kota, AND EZ loader galvinzed trailer. The boat is cool also because its 5 feet wide! I would love to hear your thoughts.
I've had an alumacraft 12 foot jon boat since 1993 that I've beat the living shit out of since the day I bought it duck hunting and fishing the Hudson River and lake champlain and it still dont leak a drop around any of the rivets and I haven't punched any holes in it yet
If Tracker can make those 14 and 12-footers with .10thick material, it will sell like hotcakes. People who graduate from Kayaks don't have a decent option yet. Not everybody wants to own a trailer.
Going forward for 2025 all boats will have foam on par with the Grizzly due to the coast guard exemption for “in shore” waters only a lot of small aluminum boat makers used to get around putting foam in is expiring.
I have a 07 grizzly1648. Hope you like cracked ribs on a lightly used boat. I dont know about alumacraft. Just talked to neighbor down the cove with new tracker bass boat. Says he has 14 different leaks in it. Just trying to pass along some truth.
Having dealt with Tracker's customer service I would warn everyone not to buy a Tracker and I would not buy the thinner aluminum Alumacraft either. Who wins, either manufacturer that cons consumers into buying either of these boats!
Back in the late 80's I bought a Tracker TX-17 with a 45hp Mariner. After one season of use the boat started leaking. I took it back to my dealer and replaced a missing rivet and siliconed two loose rivets. The following season I developed a rip in the aluminum. Called the dealer and they said to call Tracker. Tracker said to bring the boat to Missouri (I live in Michigan). I took it to Missouri and they TIG welded the rip and all the leaky rivets which at that time was about six. The following season I developed another rip in the aluminum, called Tracker and they basically told me I was on my own. To sue a company across state lines costs way more money that you could ever recover, no lawyer would take the case on contingency so it became obvious to me I was just fucked! Moral of the story, don't buy on the cheap, and Tracker does NOT stand behind their products and I would highly recommend people avoid their products. As a side note, the local guy I got to TIG weld any issues I had told me the boat did not have enough bracing and the hull was flexing and that was what was making the aluminum rip and the rivets to become stressed.
I would like to see other 0.100 gauge aluminum Jon boats. That tracker grizzley is there top of line Jon boat . So compare with other like weld craft or all weld or Lowe roughneck they are other .100 Guage or .125 Guage . I bought a Lowe 10 ft. It has .56 gauge. I was looking for something light weight I could carry . It weighs 80 pounds . But hears the downside bought it last year already leaks cause I abuse my stuff hit rocks trees drag it on concrete Just beat it up paid 800 for it .
I don’t see the budget…..If this is budget I will sell my 97 all matching 270z hydra sport w/150 hp Johnson (signed by chris janson) and trailer 97 near mint condition. Both graphs has full navionic for entire us. Replaced trailer wheel bearings and tires last year. Paid 2800 for trolling motor alone, does have spot lock. Beautiful boat. Drafts shallow. Have had it in 18”’of water. $30k and it’s yours. Lol
Well it’s pretty obvious you’re jot a fan of Alumacraft. Also would have made sense to compare the welded versions.. the Grizzly is the most notorious boat for having horrible craftsmanship. I have had both and prefer an Alumacraft. Tainted review IMO
Alumacrafts don't break. I've never seen an aluminum boat break. Compare the speed and gas mileage. I have an old 16 V Hull StarCraft SS. It's riveted lightweight alum as well. It glides with my 30 HP Suzuki.
Tracker voids warranty on aluminum boats if you use them in salt or briny water. It’s buried in their warranty claims. Alumacraft does not care where you use their boats. I owned an alumacraft V 14 for 30 years with no.issues with salt water, briny water or even fresh water. It’s not the thickness it’s the grade of aluminum used. I used mine on gravel bed and beach on the ocean, rocks in Lakes and rivers all over southern USA. I hit a lot of rocks on rivers and dragged it over gravel and sand on the beach. It bent bottom a little but fixed real easy with a hammer and piece of plywood. It took me all around key west and survived on the hook. You can keep your Trackers cause I ain’t buying one from a manufacturer that hides it’s exclusions. Something is wrong with a boat the mfg does not trust In saltwater…

It is a stiff little boat, even at top speed nothing is flexing.
And I don't just fish out of it, it's my duck boat and we get rough on them sometimes.
Don't regret my boat at all!
I have a tracker grizzly 1754, fish with it, hunt with it and bang it up and down the Mississippi river and love it!! Perfect for what I use it for.
Awesome! Thanks Andy. Lowe Skorpion 17 vs Tracker Pro 170 I’d like to see you do.
I would appreciate the links to the accessories
Thanks.
Please do one on the larger deep v comparison like 185 trophies or something . Single hull verse Alumicrafts double hull ?
But if you go with the grizzly that already has a trailer and motor you come in cheaper. And you get a little side console driving position. Then just add your extras and you'll be about 18.5 to 19
Seaark vs G3
Great video guys!!! I have listened to all of them. I'm a tracker guy but I know what you mean.
In your opinion what's the best 1648 out there? or boat around that size.
Calling Gator Trax and having a custom 16' tin rig made is just about the only one we can 100% stand behind
I probably could get 5 years out of the alumicraft but its because im not on the water often
I'm in market for some electronics. I'm a kayak angler, I have a pedal drive so I have plenty of room. I'm leaning towards a solix 10gn3 & adding mega 360. Id rather have muti touch & it b worth extra cost over helix. I do like the echomap ultra 106 as well & I could add the Lvs34. But with the Bird I could have 360 then add mega live down the road too. This will b my first graph, though I do have plenty of exsperiance playing with them mostly Lowrance & Garmin's.Any suggestions & why?? Thanks
Tracker is a much less quality boat than Alumacraft hands down. Get a boat where you can get warranty work done. They all will need it. Just how far you will have to drive for it.
There's a lot of truth there. We don't know about the quality comment though. To us they are both fighting for the bottom spot in our opinion
Nice job dude! love this! keep em coming.
Yay! Tracker finally wins!
Pop the champagne bottles Trackers on top! Haha
I've had an alumacraft 12 foot jon boat since 1993 that I've beat the living shit out of since the day I bought it duck hunting and fishing the Hudson River and lake champlain and it still dont leak a drop around any of the rivets and I haven't punched any holes in it yet
I’ve caught some monster bass out of Jon boats
Funny enough I’m watching this video as I put flex tape over a leaky rivot in my 2013 alumacraft!
🤣🤣🤣 How ironic!
If Tracker can make those 14 and 12-footers with .10thick material, it will sell like hotcakes. People who graduate from Kayaks don't have a decent option yet. Not everybody wants to own a trailer.
Love it
How do you really feel Andy?
0.075 is very thin
Too thin
The grizzly is full of high density foam, which adds a lot of weight.
Wow that's terrible! Thank you for spreading the info Stan!
You tha best 😎 tell them like it is 🤣😂
Thank you love it.
good job
Thanks Tim
How long have you worked for Tracker?
Johnny would never get us! In reality both rigs are the bottom of the barrel
$8700 for a 40 hp motor! Are you serious clark! Is that pandemic pricing or what they always cost.
It's the suggested retail price from Suzuki with the small tiller handle. We sell them for less at the shop
What about the Crestliner?
Tiny tin series Havoc vs Edge
Having dealt with Tracker's customer service I would warn everyone not to buy a Tracker and I would not buy the thinner aluminum Alumacraft either. Who wins, either manufacturer that cons consumers into buying either of these boats!
Tell everyone what your customer service experience was like so they know! Thanks buddy
Hard to believe you used to be able to buy a rigged glass boat for that price. It has become a rich man's game
Always compare the boat warranties.
Lots of alwelds around here with 40 tohatsu fishing bayous and marshes. Very strong and customizable boat.
Tracker classic xl is cheaper, longer, carpeted and has a steering wheel for cheaper
They can keep that steering wheel, we want a tiller set up for this.
And no one sells a 35 hp outboard so you would still be 5 hp below the max rating😂
I don’t see the budget…..If this is budget I will sell my 97 all matching 270z hydra sport w/150 hp Johnson (signed by chris janson) and trailer 97 near mint condition. Serviced every year with 1 yr old batteries, 3 bank charger 7ti at console with side and down, 7 ti at bow with down matched up to a 4 mo. Old motorguide pro tour with built in transducer. Both graphs has full navionic for entire us. Replaced trailer wheel bearings and tires last year. Paid 2800 for trolling motor alone, does have spot lock. Beautiful boat. Drafts shallow. Have had it in 18”’of water. $30k and it’s yours. Lol
If it was signed by Toby Keith we'd shake on it right now! Hahaha
Well it’s pretty obvious you’re jot a fan of Alumacraft. Also would have made sense to compare the welded versions.. the Grizzly is the most notorious boat for having horrible craftsmanship. I have had both and prefer an Alumacraft. Tainted review IMO
Both are garbage in our true opinion
Seaark predator vs the SJX boat
Alumacrafts don't break. I've never seen an aluminum boat break. Compare the speed and gas mileage. I have an old 16 V Hull StarCraft SS. It's riveted lightweight alum as well. It glides with my 30 HP Suzuki.
Google it James! ;) They all break
Google tracker v hulls cracking! On thier tourny boats no less!!
Pretty insane how cheap everything is in murica land… that exact alumacraft is 6000,- in euro’s.. thats about 7000 dollars ish?
Tracker aluminum rusts in salt water.
What going on with the champ
2022 tracker grizzly 1754 with trailer & regerstering $7200 (including Tax)
2022 mercury 50HP outboard $6350 (including tax)
Ghost trolling motor $3250
3x battle born 100ah 12v batteries $2400
Dakota Lithium starting battery $600
lowrance HDS 12 Live 3 in 1 $3000
total $22800
if minnkota had a brushless motor i would have that setup with the humming bird.. but they dont so i went with lowrance..
Awesome! Thanks for your input on what you got. Where in the country are ya from?
I love you so much Andy you damn yankee
In a not gay kinda way...
Man I could get a ranger rt 178 for close to that price, or a half way decent old used glass boat
The Tracker 175's are $26,000 to $28,000 now, same boat just not as pretty.
🍎🍊 buy what you can afford and get your kids out on the water.
Why are you dogging the Alumacraft with your "scrap" comments? Okay watched the rest of your vid...you just don't like Alumacraft.
Just remove the foam from the tracker they get water logged bad
You started off great then went off the reservation for electronics and trolling motor.. 🤦♂️😂 average person not gonna buy a graph cost almost what the boat did lol they'll put a $4-500 graph and about the same for a 12V trolling motor. Just being honest bud lol you wanna do a budget tin boat, do a real poor man budget tin boat 🤷
Whew. Not a lot of value in this kind of video.
