- What a day to dive. After checking online and noting unfavorable dive conditions, with projected 3-5ft surf and lower winds in the morning, I identified a potential sheltered dive location. I contacted Matt (aka Mr. California), and we headed to Palos Verdes with the intention of hunting for lobsters. Despite my initial optimism about finding protection from the surf at a specific point, we encountered strong surf and currents that surpassed our expectations.
Optimistic, we decided to give it a try in the hopes of discovering a diveable spot, but unfortunately, our efforts were in vain. After approximately 50 minutes, we had to call off the dive. I felt regretful for inviting Matt under such challenging conditions, serving as a reminder to thoroughly assess conditions before planning future dives.
Shorediving tip: If you choose to venture into more challenging sea conditions, ensure you time your entry to coincide with a lull in the breaking waves. Wait for a period when the waves are not as large. Additionally, select a specific location for entering/exiting before entering the danger zone.

Dive safe. Have fun!
Good!
I’ve dove under those conditions… Super sketch, but always fun 🤙🏻🦈
You are a different breed. Stay safe out there!
@@divespeareat you too 🤙🏻🦈
yeah the rock big waves & murky waters a bad mix for the shore. it's pretty calm now i'm just waiting on the murky water to clear a little
Yea no fun at all. It looks like it is going to be another rougher weekend this week. Mother nature making it difficult to dive this winter.
Thankfully the waves are dying down a little, hopefully this weekend will present an opportunity to dive
They did drop a bit but they seem to be picking back up again. Looks like this weekend is going to be a little rough too.
@@divespeareat yeah it’s been pretty trash. There was bioluminescence in north sd last night too hopefully that doesn’t last
Looks like most of our NorCal dives 😭
I don't know how you do it. Looks like weather is not getting any better here at least in the coming week. Rougher winter season for us this winter season.
Tidal forces should be least mid next week but havent checked wind and surf yet, its pretty rough recently
It looks like it let up for a little but we have another system coming in soon, so it looks like it will be at least another week until shore diving is better.
@@divespeareat cant wait...having withdrawls
ugh hate that sorta viz. makes me think unpleasant thoughts in the water :)
100% with you there. Looks like we are going to have another not so great weekend of dive conditions.
