    This video is a great eye opener for how he attach the blade onto the wire shaft. And where he found those cones ? I love home made blow guns videos.

    Hi Everyone , for the home blow dart makers here is a great way to make darts , bicycle spokes and I have found buy using insulin pen needle caps and putting it in a piece of coarse sandpaper and turning it around in circles and checking it every few turns it will fit into the .625 big bore guns great .
    So if you are a insulin user it's a great use for putting these plastic to use .

    I like to 3D print dart cones, but I assume if someone has a 3D printer they would already be doing that. One doesn't really need a file, these shapes are so simple, but here is one. I like to nip them so that I only print a piece of the socket and the flange at first, and thereby reduce the time to arrive at perfect dimensions.

    His hands covered how the razor blade tips were attached to the wire..Punching wouldn't attach the tip to the wire sturdy enough to be used as a projectile... Perhaps welding might work...Nice idea though

    for anyone ever using a rotary tool, _DO NOT_ operate it with it spinning towards you like this. especially with those fragile cut-off wheels. it won't be a good day for you. it's honestly best if you can secure the tool to a work surface and bring the piece to it, but if you can't or won't then you should at least hold the tool facing away from you. those things shatter if you look at them wrong, and you don't want to be in the path of that shrapnel. not to mention the shavings and debris flying at you.

    Love it been looking for a way to make mini broad heads

  • @HondoTrailside
    @HondoTrailside 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    It is often illegal to hunt with broadheads that are barbed, and usually they have a delta like rear wing. The reasoning on game animals is that if they survive the shot, they should be able to pull the broadhead back out. But in those jurisdictions where broadheads are regulated, it makes sense to meet the rules, though I don't know that they are specified for broadheads on darts, where darts are legal. i don't really see a major reason for barbing broadheads since a sharp broadhead will work form muscle movement or hitting branches, but if it falls out there would be a good passage for flow.

    • @DancerLures
      @DancerLures  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@HondoTrailside I agree with you. However, I don't hunt with blowguns. In my country the only legal way to hunt is using firearms. This is just for fun. If you read my video intro, I strongly suggest that people first check your local legal regulations and laws.

    I use wire and hammer them to paper thin, I can forge a 2mm wire to 5.5 mm broad blade.

    I use bicycle spokes to make darts from. You can find garbage bicycles everywhere. The cones I get from the bamboo practice darts. But you could easily 3d print them. I also attach a spoke to a stun dart and use that for fishing. Drill a hole in the tip just smaller than the spoke and glue in place.

    Would it be possible to take a large fish hook like your standard ( ? ) question mark shaped fish hook and straighten it out to make the dart for the blow dart gun?

    • @DancerLures
      @DancerLures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could. Also, you could use just a wire, pound it flat and use rotary tool or file to point and cut the groves and make it in the same shape as the hook. If you have a torch, you could use it and heat the tip and then harden it in oil or water. That way you don't have to attach the hook to the shaft.

    I still don't understand how you attached the blade to the wire...

    • @DancerLures
      @DancerLures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Using rotary tool I cut a slot in the wire and simply put the blade inside and pinched two sides of the slot together to squeeze the blade. After (the video doesn't show this part) I added a drop of two part metal epoxy to secure it, although it wasn't necessary. Just like you would attach a homemade broadhead arrow tip to a wooden arrow.

    What is the caps name

    • @DancerLures
      @DancerLures  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's silicone cap used for distancing the glass from the frame. For example, if you have a wooden or metal table frame that holds glass plate on top, this is used to distance and protect the glass from direct contact with metal or wood. I bought these at the store, but here's the link I managed to find: ja.aliexpress.com/item/1005002450704713.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2jpn Just check about the diameter of the cap.

    Your idea is good but not practical, I can't imagine going through all that each time you run out of darts, you show creativity but in real world not needed

    • @DancerLures
      @DancerLures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't take too long to make one of these. However, this is all for exercise purposes, as a hobby, so they last for me. It's best to order bulk and have them if you hunt more often.
