How to Make Blowgun/Airgun Darts

- I show how to make 3 different types of blowgun and airgun darts. They are all made with common household materials and are simple to make. They work with a blowgun or an airgun. Blowgun can be used to fire darts, Often, these are quite small, and do little harm by themselves; instead, they are effective due to poison spread onto their points, from (for example) dart frogs or curare.

Be careful these can be potentially dangerous, use common sense and don't get hurt. I use nails for all the darts but other pieces of metal or other materials can be used. I am shooting at a frozen wood stump and getting a good amount of penetration. I do not have a blowgun so I demonstrate them with my pneumatic dart gun

The way you made the darts with the milk jug by melting the jug and making the funnel shape could probably be used as well to make a mouth piece also for homemade blowguns. Thanks for sharing

you can make a good blowgun using a 30" length of 1/2" I.D. copper tubing (I suppose you could use PVC too) and for the darts just use those disposable foam earplugs (the tapered kind, not the cylinder shaped ones!) with a sharpened 3" piece of coat hanger wire poked thru them...these blowguns work GREAT!!!!
How about "forging" the tip of the nails via propane torch and hammer ..once the end is flattened' shape it into a "broad head" with a grinder ? Might even be able to temper it? Then put a knife edge on it?

the plastic bag for distance targets...like equanas still air then breezes..milk jug for variable winds...just under or over compensate. we hunt equanas in florida. We have a plastic bag room in the boat doc. they are eassy to sucker punch! the breathing hose is ten feet up in the tree. i use coat hangers hammer the end and sharpen 6 inch long they run right off the doc into the water. ready for the next one. we eat the right ones..they get thin so we get in the boat and sail put rain coats on and tape they smell nothing...problem is dont get out of the boat to chase them ..anacondas!
...catch anacondas a dead rat, shove a aluminum tube down it mouth pull the spikes forward throw in the water. our biggest is 22 ft. the throat mussles latch on and it is caught it is how ever a Fn mess getting them out of the water...I shyt you not!

Use a paintball gun with a 10 inch barrel. Darts will have to heavier because of huge increase in power. There's 800 lb pressure out of that CO2. I have a 1/2" diameter barrel, it'll put a heavy nail dart through a 1 inch thick board with ease.

the paipier wouldn't resist the pressure inside the barrel ! i used a superglue plastic head .
i mean for a powerfull airgun, not blowgun....

You could do that but probably wouldn't be powerful and would lose distance.
If you are using 1/2 half inch PVC tubing for your barrel you can use nerf darts for a alternative

You need to de-burr the muzzle end of your BlowGun first ! The nails are way to heavy, the total weight of the dart should be no more than 40Gr tops ...34-38 is the best I have found for .50 cal guns !
