This is #BMW’s 7th Generation of #7Series, aka G70 - and with that nice symmetry comes the biggest change - a fully electric version available from launch, in a design that’s the same as the combustion version!
And in generation 7, certainly in the #electriccar, the BMW has finally beat Mercedes’ unattractive offering in the EQS. And it’s not a simple beating, it’s a full on massacre. How? I’m going to show you every detail that makes this car a hugely attractive luxury car in both standard version, and how it can be a Rolls Royce level ownership prospect thanks to the 28K ultimate package on this car. Then, the way this thing drives thanks to the tech hiding under this blocky body - one thing that we will have a moan about!
BMW have taken a different direction to their rival in the march to diversifying their line up with electric. Look at both the i4 and the new 5 Series - both cars that look identical to their combustion counterparts, so you choose what your powertrain is - not sacrificing your taste in design for an aerodynamic bar of soap
Same is true of the 7 Series - though, design isn’t perfect. I mean it’s not EQS ugly, and it looks much more like a Rolls Royce, a big old boat. But still hard to love.
It’s longer, wider and taller than the predecessor model - but with a much more luxury focus than ever before. We have crystal headlights with Swarovski, bmw iconic glow grille, auto doors, a cinema screen - this car is insane!
The Car is built in Dingolfing plant - where electric and combustion are built side by side. It has standard-fit two-axle air suspension and the optional Integral Active Steering - rear steering up to 3.5 degrees. Our car has active roll stabilisation function, included as part of the optional Executive Drive Pro, now uses a 48V electric motor.
Our i7 today is the XDrive 60 M Sport Pro - with 544 BHP, 4.7 secs to 70 and a range of 387 miles. Base price is 110k, and there’s no equivalent available at Mercedes.
I’ll also cover the xDrive 50, crazy M70 XDrive, and the plug-in hybrid. (and the USA and China mild hybrid combustion variants in both petrol and diesel) And we will also go over the different trims, like Excellence Trim, M Sport and M Sport Pro and even the Two Tone Paint Work.
The best part though is the £6000 Individual “Gran Lusso” interior and the £28,000 “Ultimate Package” - with the famous 31.3inch folding BMW Theatre Screen, Bowers & Wilkins crystal speakers, and executive recounting rear seat!!
There’s so much to show in the interior, like the automatic opening doors, the M Sport Boost paddle, the amazing My Modes ambient lighting… way too much to write here!
So instead you have one of the biggest and longest RBR videos every to go over it all. :)

I currently am an intern at BMW and I am surrounded by tons of them every day (where you ask yourself: what is weirder - seeing so many of them in one place or getting used to it?) and I must say that I really like them. I was sceptical at first with the first images, but they are basically Rolls-Royces in BMW clothing in terms of design. Massive presence, but very suitable for the stately luxury experience they are. The previous gen was quite weak if you see them both together, it was not modern and expressive enough. They nailed it with this one, and in terms of tech and driving as well as it seems from all the reviews I saw.

Owned the 23 760i version for about 8 months. This car has countless luxury and high tech features in and out and has a great ride but just too large for my taste and the braking takes a hit because of the amount of weight. Still an awesome car but I recently sold it for a Mercedes GLE 63s. I had no idea that Mercedes was so far behind in technology when it comes to user interface. I used to just grab my phone and that was all I needed to drive the car , open the doors and even remotely park the car. Now all I get is keyless entry which was available in 2010 in most cars. There’s not even remote start on the key fob! BMW also has the best leathers as well. I don’t know about quality for the whole line up as this is my first and last Mercedes purchase but, I haven’t been able to drive the GLE 63s since I drove it off the lot because it was found to be missing a bunch of parts from the factory including a catalytic converter and turbo clamps. The exhaust leaked into the cabin. I’m guessing that the products from Mercedes that are made in Germany are better quality but Mercedes could take a few lessons from BMW. Pissing me off just typing this.

If it was an s class you wouldn't be saying the leather is better also technology wise is not far behind because even though that gle is new model year its still really the last gen of mercs cars you can tell by horizontal screens the new portrait screens are on the real present future mercedes cars n technology is just as good if not better than a bimmer

    • @performingspecs7841

@@morelife7722 No, I disagree no real point made. And the AMG GLE 63s is the lowest model with faux leather? I think you need to go back and check your facts. But I will give you that even a GLS 580 at $112,000 still comes with MBTEX faux leather unless you choose Nappa leather as an option. I have the 2024 GLE 63s which just got wireless Apple CarPlay. Also you are right in a sense, the newest models aren’t too far behind right now. I’m just not too impressed with the tech as of yet, the GLE 63s is a great and fun vehicle if you get luck and get one that was assembled correctly.

Funnily enough, BMW would rather you not press the circle to open the car door automatically. That's actually the sensor and they say you can damage it. Also the reason some reviewers were complaining about the slowness of the doors opening, they were blocking the sensor with their fingers. They would rather you press on the corner where the light is. Circle sure looks like where you would press though.

technological marvel, class leading luxury and i'd own it in a heartbeat. That said, I cannot say this is an attractive design BUT at the end of the day I can't say I'd make my choice based primarily on looks. It's just the headlights; rolls royce has a similar design and what suck is that the perfect fit for the front is is already a rolls royce front end and even their weirder new models with slim headlights have the aesthetics sorted better. I wonder if some type of neo-retro design could have worked harking back to the more square designs would have been a cool way to distinguish things- more squared off but with keeping sharp lines (more aggressive). Cool car regardless of what I think of how it looks though.

I think this would be a good looking car if the body was a bit lower and the front wheels were a bit further forward. But yes, it does look like a block of wood.

"Which is the right way to do it" - I don't agree. By making a dedicated electric platform, the EQS is much more efficient vehicle than this 7 series platform which has compromises in order to fit both ICE and electric engines.

  • @ownagebox
    @ownagebox 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

exterior is crap but the interior is perfect. Take notes MB! Mercedes did a really good job for BMW by putting on every car a horrendous price tag, while having plastic seats in it und paper thin plastic interior that cracks a soon as you touch it and not to mention the downsizing of motors and ridicolous tablet in the middle to take you even quicker to death.

I don''t get why the iX gets all the hate for its design, but this new 7 series doesn't. It looks like a completely generic souless car, but with a ridiculously cocktail of design choices on the front to compensate the rest of the shape. At least the iX is consistent and offers a total distinctive design package from front to back. Even the EQS looks way more elegant and bold than this.

Thank you for your video. But with all due respect most of the commentary very subjective such as exterior design slaughtering the EQS. Words: "Comfortable", "Cushion", "Wide Seats" were repeated profusely. As far as that car being quiet, it is correct but the sound of air/wind is very noticeable due ti its anti aerodynamic shape. Yes, it is bouncy but also feel less robust and more loose in comparison to EQS. Comparing this car to Rolls Roys is where it close me entirely.
