I would call the motor bay a lot of wasted space. With minor rearrangement, they could have added some nice storage. It looks like a repurposed ICE platform, nice, but not very efficient.

@@zodiacfmlMy 1989 INOX saucepan, it will beat your Toyota - not a single repair to date.
And yes, in your logic, people don't need to buy smartphones - as a cheap keyboard phone can last 10+ years, you can replace yourself a battery for $10 and you can throw it away because you've paid like 10 time less than any smartphone from Apple.
Apparently, you don't have friends rich enough to own similar cars. I had some... they don't compete with you, they have to impress the rich friends, and buy a gift for themselves like MB S-Klasse or this BMW.
Many will have drivers... and driver's pay alone make the repair cost difference not very important.
      They usually have 2 drivers.
Many BMWs 7 series are used as state cars. With dozens of people working for PM, President or Secretary. Few million dollars budget. And paying extra $5-10K year on maintenance and repair is just nothing.

anyways, it was exactly my point. it is not like there is no market for the type or level of this car. this BMW is great if a home or owner already has multiple cars since it is no big issue if the car stays in the dealership for weeks or months.

@@zodiacfml I'm sure few VIPs from now on will buy a Tesla. They would prefer - with some exceptions - to buy trusted, traditional brands. Also nice-looking, and looking not like a nerd toy.
BMW, MB and Audi. Look how in Europe people with money started to buy Jaguars and Audi e-tron - regardless of specs.
IT's about tradition and prestige, not battery size.
With German brands making about 15,000,000 cars a year, they will have a ton of money to get better tech in few years.
      Tesla leadership will mostly evaporate.

Well spoken review Jordan, I do feel he was a little to kind. Let's be honest, there are just too many gimmicky features compared to what I would expect in a 7 series, and areas where BMW straight up ignored.
    such as:
-The Engine bay packaging... you can tell BMW had it's suppliers /design teams separately design each system and then integrate it, hoses everywhere. The engine bay could have accommodated a frunk had they removed some of ICE packaging requirements, and forced their design teams to work on part integration like Tesla.
    - The fabric no matter how premium doesn't look any more impressive than 25K Subaru
-displays in the doors.... each door has a tablet display, and probably each door has its own display driver board. This is going to cause a terrible customer experience as hardware and software robustness will degrade over time, or be very distracting if one side goes out. If they have a central media computer driving each display, with separate door/window actuators then maybe.
-wonder if that power door has sufficient depth perception /sensor depth perception to prevent a door ding on adjacent cars
-Wondering what features in the car will be subscription based....

As I came to notice through the years on German cars and also on BMWs, perceived quality with nice materials isn’t always synonymous of actual quality, more than often a nice plastics peels off or even softens and melts, nice «metal» surfaces are actually just a thin veneer of metal… I bet they actually make much higher margins on their higher end models!
