    I just want to say thank you so much for making this video. Learning from your mistakes and using your math i was able to make a beautiful red oak base for my new chandelier.

    Niiiiice detail! I've installed 5 fans in house so far and desire to install 2 more, one being in a vaulted ceiling, wonder why it was done that way, it's an ordinary BR. Anyway learned from your video and comments as you progressed which added what you were thinking along the way. Knowing/ hearing your second thoughts was a plus, cause there are variations in actual installs, fan types, sizes etc, thanks again will save for reference.

    I'll be attempting this with plywood. Because I have enough leftover plywood to do that. Thankfully my ceiling is the same angle as yours, so you did all the math for me. If the plywood doesn't work I'll have to go buy a board.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I'll be doing something similar in my family room (vaulted ceiling) with a chandelier that's designed for a level ceiling.

    Thanks. I made one. One Issue I had was my ceiling angle changes; it flattens out in the middle. I ended up using a belt sander to get it to fit better.

    Very cool video to show how you can make math work for us in the everyday world. You could probably make a template of the peak of your ceiling against your wall with cardboard though.

      I have been thinking about this for years so I hope my experience here will help others going forward.

    code & safety concern: the metal box needs a wire strain relief to protect the wire from sharp edges and vibration

    This looks like how they installed the fire alarms on the ceiling at a school that is a work in progress institution (I'm also referring to those alarms that had to be mounted on a canopy and a downrod like that of a ceiling fan, so they hung from the ceiling, especially in the gymnasium, and most of them were in cages to protect the alarms from damage, and some were suspended from cables and the cables were attached to a downrod and canopy) especially with the wires dangling from the ceiling at 11:11 and the close-up @11:24.

    Hi Kent, I'd like to use this technique for my room and looking at slope calculators online I don't get the same slope as you and I don't have scientific calculator with inverse tangent. It sounds like you might have actually calculated the angle of incline from what I read. Any help or information would be appreciated 🙏

      The online slope calculators should work, measure rise/run for 1'. In Windows search for Calculator and use that. Select scientific. The old school way is to just use a bevel gauge and directly transfer the angle. You only have to get close, no one will see a small gap.

    Great explanation, Kent! Will you be doing another video like this soon?

      I made a few ceiling fan videos. Now every room has one and they all work.

    Is there a minimum clearance for fan blades to ceiling that you know of. I have an A frame. I purchased a 4 out download for a 60 inch fan. At 4 feet, I have 80 total inches, so 10 inches of clearance per side. I can drop it down further but don't really want to. The manufacture suggests blades need to have 18 inch clearance to the nearest wall. Is that an absolute?

    • @KentDiego
      @KentDiego  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as it does not hit wall. I am sure 10" will be fine.

    Why not use a peak box instead?

    • @KentDiego
      @KentDiego  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never heard of them. Not at Home Depot. I googled and found it. Looks like a good product. Only down side is there would be a gap at ceiling due to wrong angles. Guess you could fill with calking. I would consider it as would be easier than making custom wood adapter.

    That's a Emerson Carrera Ceiling Fan. It could be on the Sloped Ceiling Fan with a Emerson Sloped Ceiling Fan Canopy Kit.

    • @KentDiego
      @KentDiego  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could have used the standard stud mounted brace off the the side of peak, Since only 18.4 degrees the standard Emerson mount would have worked without slope kit. I just thought would look funny and wanted exactly in center of ridge. I will post my review of the Emerson Carrera CF784 60" fan in a few minutes.

      Kent Diego Okay, and you're going to do it on all 3 speeds.

      I just published the review. High was great and cooled entire room. Medium was barely felt. Low was a joke wiht no wind at all.
