Great video and the fan is working very well. The only part that did not work for me was attaching the Light Shade. It just does not screw on or stay attached and it keeps falling off. I may request a replacement light shade to see if that makes any difference.
Follow up, I am an idiot. I installed the blade arms on the bottom of the 'motor ring', instead of the top. This did not leave enough room for the Light Shade to screw on. Thanks for this video. Got through most of it only to realize I don’t have a ground wire. The fixture I’m replacing attached the copper wire to the mounting plate. Can that be done with this?
Yes, you can connect the green wire from the ball/downrod with the green wire from the mounting bracket and then connect those to the bare copper wire.
I just bought one of this nice fans. I connected everything exactly as instructed in the video but can’t get my fan turn on. I tested the power on all my wires and everything seems to be good. What do i do?
If you have already checked that the wiring is properly and completely connected, you may have to change the frequency of the remote and re-pair the remote to the fan. @@ceilingfans101 thank you for answering my question. I connected the fan to an existing light switch on the wall that controls my living room lights. Will this be a possible problem to cause my fan not to work?
@@AyMChavez Yes, the switch may be causing this issue. Try connecting the fan directly to the house hot wire instead of the switch wire and see if that resolves the issue. The switch may be limiting the power delivery to the fan or the fan may not be receiving full power.
My husband installed the fan, once all together the light will come on but the fan has not come on yet. We paired the remote and that did not seem to help.. anything you can think of? Is their a switch on the receiver?
I have a down rod of 18 inches.... but the extension wires are way too long with the plastic connectors at the end. Will I have to cut the wires shorter and use a bunch of wire nuts instead of the easy plastic connectors?
Hi there. You can connect the extension wire and then wrap the extra wire around the mounting bracket and hold it place using a small piece of electrical tape.
This fan is designed for use in areas of 20ft x 20ft or larger. For a 13 x 13 space, we would suggest a 48-56" fan. Installing this fan in a 13 x 13ft room, may actually constrict the fan's performance because there is not enough available air in the space to circulate evenly which could result in less air movement than a 52" fan. Just a note that fans do not cool the room, they create a cooling effect when the breeze is felt, but if the room is too hot, the fan will just circulate hot air.
@ceilingfans101 you just contradicted another video I watched. The other video is direct from the manufacturer of ceiling fans and they recommend 60" to 72" for a room that's 12x12 or larger. I'm pretty sure they, the manufacturer do their homework when engineering a ceiling fan.

There may be some confusion regarding the packaging. The top flap on the box has 2 charts on it - One has "mounting options" and shows "downrod" and "Slope" there is not a flush mount option shown in this chart. There is another chart that has "Ceiling fan dimensions" - this chart shows the height of the fan when installed in different ways. The "Close-to-ceiling" option is marked "N/A". That is because this fan does not have a flush mount option. If the fan was able to be installed without the downrod, that would be shown in the mounting options chart. We are not electricians, and we have to say that you should consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about your house wiring. That being said, a red wire is typically a switch wire. If that is the case, the receiver can be connected to the red wire instead of the house black. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the switch. Hi there!! I Bought and installed 2 of this fans in the same room, fist issue I have is that I need both controls to operate the fans from different locations and I can’t get both control to operate, if I program one control the one that’s already programmed stops working, the other issue is that some times one of the two fans miss the remote command signal and fans go out synchronization, so light colors, fan speed, etc are out synchronization and I don’t if there is an easy way to synchronize the two fans, I don’t think that this is gonna work for me, I would like to return the fans but there are a lot pieces to pack back in the box!!
We would not recommend using both controls to operate both fans from different locations because the fans will get out of sync like you've already experienced. Then it's a hassle to get them synced back up. We would recommend pairing 1 remote to one fan. Since they are in the same room (and assuming they are on the same circuit) you will need to pair one remote with the first fan. Then, disconnect the black house wire from the receiver from the fan that was just paired and do the pairing process for the second one. The reason that the second remote pairing is causing the first remote to stop working is because the fan is connected to power and the second remote is overriding the first remote. Disconnecting the power from the first fan after it has been paired will ensure that the second remote only pairs with the second fan. You can try to pair both remotes to both fans, but the remotes would have to be set to the 0 setting and both would have to have the learn button pressed at the same time in the pairing process. Not sure it will work out though. Let us know how it works out.
Do you think it's possible to skip the wiring to the receiver, and wire it directly to the existing wiring? Cani just cut the fan wires before the plastic clips, and connect the wires directly to the existing cables? I have 4 cables, hot, neutral, light, and ground.
For other standard AC fans, that could be an option. But, due to the DC motor in the fan, the only viable control option is the included remote control. The only switch option would be a standard on/off toggle style switch.

I can't start my fan with the remote, what buttons do you push to turn it on?
Press the fan speed button to cycle through the speeds. Make sure that if the fan is connected to a switch, that the switch is turned on. If all else fails, try to re-pair the remote with the fan (follow instructions at the 17:28 mark).
Has anyone installed the fan and but the light and fan both never turn on? I already tried pairing multiple times and verified that the wire coming out of the ceiling is hot, but the wire after the receiving never has power.
We would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone.
Can I install this fan without a down rod? Can I bypass that?
No, this fan must be installed with a downrod.
@@ceilingfans101 Thanks for posting. I was hoping to flush-mount this fan. Can a shorter downrod be used? (Low ceiling)
@@jad4ca The fan includes a 6" downrod which is the shortest recommended downrod for use with this fan. A 4.5" could be used technically, but it may negatively impact the fan's airflow performance because the available air to circulate between the blades and ceiling will be decreased.
@@ceilingfans101 Thank you very much for the response
Do I need to install the downrod?
yes
@@ceilingfans101 can install a lkgmer downrod?
@@blockchaindomain Yes, the fan can be installed with a longer downrod (up to 72 inches).
Light has two black wires, not a white one and a black one.
Both of the light kit wires have black protection around them and it may need to be pushed down to see the color wires.
AVOID just a horrible light and remote... these lights are not easy to replace, light direction is straight down. looks odd with only that light on. the motor flips back and forth trying to find it's direction and sometimes messes up, i'll bet this video took like 10 takes before they got it to look that good. the remote is horrible. trying to find the light over the fan is difficult especially at night. gets interference from other remotes.
The light can be easily replaced by calling Home Decorators Collection customer service. The back and forth operation at start up is normal for DC motor fans as shown/explained in the video. If the remote is receiving an interfering signal, change the frequency of the remote as shown at the 17:40 mark. We did not have any issues with our fan, but if you do, you should call Home Decorators Collection customer service. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone.
My lightl kit also has 2 black wires. Wtf is wrong with this shit
The wires on the light kit have black wire coverings and may need to be pushed down a bit to see the actual wire colors.
