What's up guys? As a fan of both Sonic and music, this is a video I’ve always wanted to make. It’s been in the works for a while and I hope you all enjoy it!
Thanks to @FCPlaythroughs and @LiamTriforce for some of the footage used in this video.
Thanks for clicking and God bless! - เกม
nothing better than hearing the rawest songs while a super saiyan hedgehog beats up a giant robot 100x his size
Flying Battery Zone was peak
And still to this day, no one gives Knuckles Chaotix the love it deserves
whenever I see a Sonic music video, I can’t help but say, “Counter point: The best Sonic song is all of them.”
Wow, finally someone who I almost entirely agree with. The only ones I'd change would be mystic cave for sonic 2 and quartz quadrant present for Cd, but chemical plant and stardust speedway present both happen to be my second favorite in those games. Thou have great musical taste!
9:03 w pick, thats my favorite too, its so good
This review is gold. Solid. Amazing. Please keep going. Beautiful work, u will blow up.
I’ve only played sonic 1 and 2 and my favorite from sonic 1 is star zone and sonic 2 favorite is hidden palace zone
Hidden Palace zone is a banger
Hidden palace zone is from sonic 2 2013
8:36 i prefer act 2 of hydrocity but respectable opinion
For sonic 3, i would've picked ice cap act 1/2. But still, awesome picks ya got :D
For me, I would say that the best song from Sonic 1 is Star Light Zone, I think it is the second most liked song in Sonic 1 just behind Green Hill, but I think it is deserved, this song is really good
In Sonic 2, pretty unusual choice but I think my favorite might be Aquatic Ruin Zone, Chemical Plant is really good and funky, and it makes sense for it to be so loved, it is a really great song and I agree with that, but Aquatic Ruin really brings me attention for some reason
For Sonic CD, I think the lyric songs in the Japanese OST of Sonic CD are better than the American one
I really like the US OST as a whole, just how I like the JP OST too (I like the Japanese one a bit more, but the US OST is really good in general too, with all songs), Sonic Boom is really good, and it is iconic as hell, but I love You Can do Anything and ESPECIALLY Cosmic Eternity - Believe in Yourself
Out of the whole JP/EU OST of Sonic CD, I have 3 ones that stick out, I love the whole Soundtrack of course, Sonic CD has one of the best OSTs in the Sonic series, and especially the JP one, there is not a single song that I think it is below, but out of the whooole game, I think Quartz Quadrant Present (Good Future is also a really good choose), Wacky Workbench Past and Cosmic Eternity are the 3 ones that stick out to me and I really don't know which one of them I would chose as the best of the game, I love these 3 a lot, but... I think I would end up chosing Cosmic Eternity for being so pretty and having vocals
On the US OST my favorite would definetly be Tidal Tempest Present, it is so catchy, so chill, has an amazing back vocal, bass and instruments overall
for Sonic 3, I love a lot of songs of this game, I think Ice Cap Act 1 would be a good choice, but I have to agree with you on Hydrocity, but for me, my pick is Act 2 for being so frenetic and cool
And for Sonic & Knuckles, totally agree with Lava Reef Act 1, it has been my favorite song of this game for a long time, I also love Flying Battery because it is really Funky, but Lava Reef has such a feeling surrounding it... it is really good
Dude, thanks for taking the time write all that! It was really cool to hear someone else’s take and I hope you liked the video!
@@lemoncakestudios3031 You're welcome! I really enjoyed watching it, it was really fun, can't wait for the next part!
For me its:
Sonic 1- Starlight Zone
Sonic 2 - Chemical plant
CD JP - You can do anything (intro theme)
CD US-Tidal tempest present
Sonic 3- Hydrocity
Sonic and knuckles - Sky sanctuary
Hells yeah! I’d love to see a part 2. Honest question, though. Wouldn’t this era also include Shadow the Hedgehog? Wanna make sure that’s a deliberate choice and not just overlooking it.
Honestly I was considering skipping it, but you’re comment inspired me to include it after all!
@@lemoncakestudios3031 Well, yay!
as a LARGE fan of sonic myself i see that the actual best ost from sonic two is that last boss death egg and also in sonic cd i see the hard beat drop more in tidal tempest and as for sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles its ice cap it hits hard but all of the other games nah i see ur opinion true on them
1:14 was the most terrifying jumpscare of my life
I feel like spring yard zone and sandopolis zone are tied as the best song from any Sonic game.
10:25 wait its over? I wanted to see ur thoughts on mania and superstars
Thanks so much that really means a lot! If my Adventure Era video had gotten more views, I was planning on making two more parts in the series that would’ve included Mania and Superstars since I was doing all the titles chronologically. But since you asked, here are my thoughts. For Mania, I was going to have two songs: one that was the best original song and one that was the best remix. My favorite original song was probably Studiopolis Act 1 since it’s so catchy and iconic (it fits like a glove with the level’s theming). but they’re all so good that it could’ve easily been Press Garden or Mirage Saloon. For best remix, I’d have to go with Metallic Madness Act 1. While it definitely isn’t my favorite track, I think it does the best job of taking the best parts of the original song and giving them new life here. The original Metallic Madness theme wasn’t anything super special, just a typical, oppressive, final level song. Here, they managed to blend it’s iconic musical cues way better and give it more character with the vocal samples. It sounds so much better here and is the only remix from Mania that I will say is an improvement in every way (besides maybe Oil Ocean but that was always a more one dimensional song anyway). If I’m being honest, there was not a single song from Sonic Superstars that meant anything to me. Not only do I not remember any of them, but none of them stood out to me during my playthrough in the first place. No matter how bad a Sonic game is, at least they always, and I mean always, leave you with some masterpiece in the music department (06 and Forces come to mind). This just goes to show that Superstars was a whole nother level of disappointing. I made a whole video on the game if you want to hear more of my thoughts. If I had to chose one, I’d probably go with Bridge Island’s theme, but I really only remember it because it was in the trailers. It’s a decent enough song, no Green Hill or Emerald Hill or Angel Island, but it does the job. Thanks so much for asking me about this because I really enjoyed thinking about what my picks for those games would’ve been! God bless!
@@lemoncakestudios3031 for superstars try fully listening to sand sanctuary zone, its really fire its the only reason i like the soundtrack just cause of one song, give it a good listen
My favorite Sonic 2 song is Mystic Cave all day! I love the zone in general, it's fun, the song for it is a banger, and overall is a great zone. (minus the spike pit)
This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen and I absolutely loved it! It was incredibly well made and the way you talked about all of the songs was great too. I would love to hear what you have to say on the adventure era and I hope your channel continues to grow as you really deserve it!
(Btw, this video showed up in my recommended, so the algorithm might be doing you well!)
Thank you! Hearing that honestly means so much and I’m extra glad you enjoyed the video! Don’t worry, the adventure era one is already in the works and I hope you enjoy it just as much. I’m super grateful for the support from amazing people like you and I just want to say thanks for you taking the time to write that comment!
ffs please turn down the volume whenever you go deep fried or yell, my ears are genuinely hurting right now
LES GO BRO SAID HYDR AHH CITYYY 🔥🔥🔥
For me quartz quadrant present
When they played the Sonic CD medley during the Sonic Symphony, I kept waiting for them to play the breakdown from Stardust Speedway but they did not. The breakdown is heavily featured in the Generations mix.
7:26 False. According to one of his associates who was credited (Buxer IIRC), Jackson left the project because he was frustrated with the Genesis sound chip. He remained close to Sega, making a cameo in Space Channel 5 and returning for a bigger role in its sequel. In any case, for legal reasons, there are certain songs Sega can't really use anymore. So going back to the Sonic Symphony, you're going to get Sky Sanctuary and only Sky Sanctuary.
I went to the Sonic Symphony myself, and I noticed the same thing. That breakdown really completes the song and I missed it a ton.
About Michael Jackson’s involvement, I’d actually heard about his frustrations regarding the Genesis soundchip before, but from my knowledge it’s uncertain as to whether it was that or Sega’s response to Michael’s allegations were what broke the relationship. In hindsight , I should’ve at least mentioned the soundchip thing. Thanks for catching me on that!
To this date Sonic CD with q audio sound and two full compositions soundtracks was way ahead of its time back in 1993 compared to that Nintendo donkey Kong which was laughable
This guy oddly reminds me of SonScotty
My man! Stardust Speedway present ❤💯
ICE CAP ZONE?!?
hey tails i found windmill isle
really? all I found was another green hill zone remix
Sonic CD is the hardest to choose from bc for the JP soundtrack idk which one I’d choose between Stardust Speedway Bad future, Stardust Speedway Present, Quartz Quadrant Present, or Tidal Tempest Present. But for the US soundtrack that would be Stardust Speedway Bad Future
That green hill remix, where did you get it?
It’s the one from Sonic Generations. I’m pretty sure it’s the Classic Sonic version
I think the best song is Star Light :>
W chemical plant
Great video Lemoncake! In my opinion, Sonic CD has the best soundtrack.
Thanks so much! Overall, I agree. CD’s OST just feels so deep when compared to the other classic games. Really a masterpiece
It has more channels to use, and more themes. It's so good that the American team wanted to put their own spin on it, it's objectively good.
how did i manage to disagree with every statement made😭
Sonic 1: Marble zone
Sonic 2: Mystic cave zone
Sonic cd(Japanese): Quartz quadrant zone(bad future)
Sonic cd(US): Whacky workbench zone(good future)
Sonic 3: Ice cap zone(act 2)
Sonic & knuckles: Flying battery zone(act 1)
Please do the adventure era songs
don't you DARE leave out 3D Blast
Is 3D blast technically a classic sonic game?
@@lemoncakestudios3031 Yeah,Sonic 3D Blast is a classic Sonic game.
For me, Ice Cap Zone
In sonic 3 the best song is ice cap
C'mon yall everyone knows that Quartz Quadrant present is the best cd song
Green hill zone >spring yard zone
personally i disagree
You choose hydro city as your favorite why did you not choose ice cap
Well I liked hydrocity act 2ost
Fair enough. I can’t blame you for that. Act 2 has a little bit more of an edge to it
Spring yard
Chemical plant
Stardust speedway present from sonic cd JP
Sonic boom from sonic cd US
Hydro city from Sonic 3
Lava reef from sonic and Knuckles
Way past cool
I prefer Hydrocity act 2
Ice cap zone has a better music than hydrocity!
how the heck do people like Chemical Plant ost, the whole level (and it's ost) give me like a eugh and disgusted feel and listening to it enough makes my ears bleed
Chemical Plant is overrated
Mystic Cave Aquatic Ruin and Oil Ocean are all better imo
