@@Alexonthetube It’s clear to me that they hired Hackett to lure Rodgers, and when Rodgers didn’t come, they panicked and picked up the next big name QB to hit the market. Unfortunately for them, Russ is toast. His athleticism isn’t what it used to be, and he never developed his passing game and processing speed well enough to rely solely on it. It’s a shame.

Also signed Randy Gregory to a massive contract, who did absolutely nothing for the team. Gave Tim Patrick(who's been injured for 2 years), and Courtland Sutton massive contract extensions for "average" performances. We can go on about his pathetic attempts and massive spending to improve the O Line, but we'll end it here. Horrible GM who will most likely be let go after the season..
He is going to be cut even before he plays a down on his extension. Quite possibly the worst contract in NFL history.

Okay I’ve been a Broncos fan for 30 years. I have watched damn near every game in full in that time period. I wanted Russ to be the answer and have pulled for him since he got here. His play this year is definitely better than last year but let’s make sure one thing is clear. He is not playing “great” this year. His stats are pretty solid, especially when it comes to TD/INT ratio but this is one of those situations where the stat line does not accurately reflect the product on the field. The offense is stagnant. It can barely put a drive together until the 4th quarter when teams are usually in the lead and playing a softer defense that allows for constant check downs. You’ll notice his passing yards are extremely low. There are 2 reasons for his relatively decent touchdown rate. The first is our special teams unit. We have one of the best returners in the game in Marvin Mims. Last I checked he was first in the league in both kick and punt return averages. Russ is constantly being given unreal field position. The second reason is that the defense went on an historical run of turnovers for nearly 2 months, where they were again setting him up with the crazy good field position. In those circumstances where he is asked to drive the length of the field before the defense shifts to playing soft, he just doesn’t get it done. He holds the ball way too long, runs into sacks, and can’t utilize the middle of the field. Payton wants to be able to exploit defenses wherever they have a weakness, and Russ is simply not able to do that. This will hurt the franchise for some time but I think it’s best to let Payton blow everything up and rebuild it how he sees fit in the long term. I wish Russell the best though. The man does not deserve the hate he gets from media and other fans.
3rd reason Sutton is Randy Moss when he gets in the end zone. Why tf was Sean Payton calling timeouts though 😂 that was so stupid to think you have a better chance if getting the ball back and getting a field goal with under 50 seconds left, than they do to hit one big play and get into fg range
I’ve seen Russell throw to the end zone (long ball) more times than not when they needed to finish a drive. Instead of picking up yards and finishing the drive (td) he’s forcing throws trying to be a hero and failing. I couldn’t stand him before he came to the broncos and I barely want to admit they are my favorite team. Wilson sucks period.

100% Seattle knew this and that's why they moved on from him. Russ is 17-27 in his last 44 starts. He's 10-19 as a Bronco. (Rypien had 1 win last year) Seattle's D, Tyler Lockett, and Marshawn Lynch made Russ look great. But, if you actually watched any of his games in Seattle, you would see they were great in spite of Russ. His scrambling and speed in Seattle isn't the same in Denver. Scrambling QBs aren't successful as they get older.

Seattles two best defensive players came from this trade (Boye Mafe, and Devon Witherspoon), their best offensive linemen came from this trade (Charles Cross), their backup QB from this trade, and other promising younger players. Denver gets two losing seasons and an 80+ million dollar dead cap hit from this trade.

That’s the issue with RW. Add that to the fact that he had his own office in the facility AND his coach told the other players that they needed to speak with him before they said anything to Russell about his play. He just flat out carried himself as being better than everyone and unapproachable, and above any type of accountability. And that has continued in Denver. Sean Payton says yeah hell with that.
I was at the Broncos Pats game and he wasn’t good but he wasn’t doing anything bad. Play-calling was passive and defense was stagnant and it was a must-win game. Not sure how that’s on him

Sean Payton had a hall of fame worthy QB Drew Brees for 15 years and got 1 SB out of him. I'm not a huge Wilson fan, but I can't see why Payton should kick him to the curb and live with dead cap money when he's still playing ok. If Payton was worth his salary he should be able to find a way to build a team and a scheme around Wilson to at least get the value out of the contract.
Imagine not tanking after 1-5 just to get rid of your best passer since 2014 Manning. Maybe 7th time will be the charm for that sorry team
best passer doesn't mean good passer. He's definitely starter material but he's not a long term solution and can't take a team anywhere in the playoffs.
I think that was the issue. I think Payton was tanking the whole time and Wilson was managing to pull out wins. I think the wins are what pissed off Payton.

Sean Payton needs to take some responsibility. We only have one receiver in Sutton. Our TE's can't catch. Our running game has faded. We gave up way to many points at the beginning of the season. Our new kicker lost us a few games. These problems are all on Payton. If Russ had a few more options at QB, I think he might have had a better season.

The narrative that russ wasn’t the problem is ridiculous this guy has 10 fumbles and gets sacked the most time after time every year. He can’t see the middle of the field either, so you’re limited on what you can do as a offense.

GM George Paton needs to be fired for last season hiring Hackett solely to potentially land Aaron Rodgers and then give Russ this crippling salary cap contract before the team ever took a real snap.

Payton loves to send all the receivers/te's deep to clear space for a *designed* checkdown. Gets more yards than your AVG checkdown...but it screws Wilson. He either has to quickly throw deep into coverage, checkdown or run himself. But the very rare times Payton added a shallow crosser as another option...it worked! You see it on their last scoring drive. But then ridiculously obvious Perine checkdowns on the final possession 🤦♂️

$37M also vests on the fifth day completely for the 2025 salary. He is already getting his full 2024 salary and option bonus. He gets cut then he can structure his contract with the new team to get the Broncos to pay his 2024 salary (less league minimum). This makes a contending team really competitive in 2024.
No contending team wants washed up Russ as QB.
There is someone on my team auditioning for next year. Maybe broncos look at flacco 1 to 2 yrs until you can make a trade or do something to get up in the draft to find your guy

First of all, you guys are blaming Russ for the defense not doing what they are supposed to do!!!! And let’s have a reality check, take a good look at all those other teams with worse records than the broncos and yet those teams didn’t bench their quarterbacks.
