Russ is rightfully getting buried. If you’re gonna pitch a big stink for years about everyone holding you back, and you wanting to get all the credit, then you sure as hell are the person to blame when someone actually “lets you cook.”
As a Seahawks fan he lost a step after his injury a couple of years ago. I was happy to see him go. He brought drama. Seahawks aren't that bad without him. I think he's on the slide.

I think he got a lot of his flaws hidden for a long time being on a stacked team. But I also think that the freakish longevity of Brady and Brees kinda made people forget that a QB in his mid 30s is probably going to be declining.
Agreed. Brady and, to a lesser degree, Brees, got everyone believing it's normal to play great into their 40s. But we all should know by now that Brady lives a very disciplined life to make that happen. He's even willing to get divorced to continue to play. So he's not normal, and others shouldn't be compared to him.
And Rogers. He’s another long lasting miracle QB. He’s gonna be 39 in December.
This. People act like during peak Seahawks SB years, games were a walk in the park and our offense was good. No. We’d get tons of field goals, onside kicks all the time, and just HOPE Russell could pull something out of nowhere. His ability to run and extend plays in that way is what gave him an edge. Now he can’t run, messed up his hand, and suddenly thinks he’s an elite passer. It makes no sense. I’ve been wanting to replace him since 2015. Then somehow the Seahawks got worse and his ego got bigger. One thing none of us ever wanted to admit is that his height does affect him. There’s a reason why he can’t see in the middle of the field or in the red zone…
That offense was NOT stacked post lynch. Tf you talking about. Bottom 5 o line for several years and a revolving door of running backs that couldn’t stay healthy. Yes he had LOB for what, 3-4 years?

really appreciate that defense, the 2013 team could punt into a million great situations
There was just a really great period with Lynch, Doug Baldwin, Kearse, and others that just worked. Wilson definitely was great in that offense and I think they all elevated one another. But yeah, Seattle was never the same once Lynch left. Just happy he came back for that playoff run a couple years ago.

It’s crazy because that was impossible when he was in Atlanta. He had to be nothing short of perfect to win games with the Falcons and even then they would still lose. Ryan deserves to finally have a defense that gives him a chance. Now he also deserves a good o line so they’re 1 for 2 right now lol. The composure to somehow pull of those last two FG drives was admirable.

It’s partially the play calling. They keep dialing up plays to open up the intermediate center of the defense but Russ hates those throws because he can’t see over the OL. They need to run naked bootlegs so Russ can roll out of the pocket and hit receivers deep one-on-one on the edge. That’s his bread and butter.
I expected that the locker room will eventually see through Russell but I think it's going to happen a lot sooner than I expected. Russell wanted to cook and Denver gave him the kitchen. But Russell hasn't been able to boil water. Thank you Denver for taking Wilson out of Seattle.

It’s his right responsibility to make sure things are in order and obviously nothing on that team is in order. As a Seahawks fan I was originally upset about the Wilson trade as my thinking was that Pete Carroll is in his 70s and would probably retire before Russell so it made no sense to pick the coach in a dispute. But now I can rather happily admit that I was an idiot and didn't know what I was talking about! The Seahawks are pretty whatever this year and I don't really expect them to make the playoffs but the Broncos aren't going anywhere either. Seattle is "winning" the trade pretty much just on how each team is playing to expectations. The Broncos were supposed to be contenders with the addition of Russell and they suck. Seattle has Denver's first round pick in the draft and it could very well be a higher position than Seattle's which is hilarious.

Seahawks fans have seen the decline the last few years, especially as he scrambles less. Denver got fleeced with that trade and I hope Denver and Russ continue to implode. He is so phony, almost robotic. It's no wonder so many former Seahawks can't stand him.
Bobby Wagner didn't find out through twitter that he was let go, he found out through seahawks staff but PC and JS just hadn't contacted him yet. The way wagner tweeted about it, made it seem like he found out through the internet, but he later went on the eisen show I think it was, and clarified.
As far as the little whispers about wilson from ex teammates and how they felt about him.
Doug Baldwin, who was Wilson's go-to receiver for a long time, didn't even shoutout wilson in his retirement speech, he shouted out tavaris jackson, but not wilson at all lol.
Wilson was coddled in seattle, I understand why, he was a franchise QB, those are far and few between, but that didn't sit right with the rest of the team when the PC message was supposed to be accountability. It eventually festers when you preach accountability, and then you have an exception in one of the most visible players.
Pete Carroll and Bevell did a masterful job of hiding Wilson's deficiencies, once RW3 had enough accolades, he wanted it to be more about him and an MVP run, he wanted to cook, because he thought he could cook, like a Rodgers, or Brady. But he isn't as good as the truly elite QBs. He's got a good deep ball, and is super accurate WHEN he can make the right reads and see the right receivers, but he doesn't consistently see them or throw them open, and his wheels are fading with age so he can't manufacture explosive scrambe plays as much.

I feel for Broncos fans. Being a Hawks fan, you could see the decline with Russ for the last few years. His last year especially. He may need a big bite of humble pie for Denver to have a chance.
For the last few years? He had 96 tds, 24ints and a 104 avg QBR since 2019. 2021 wasn’t as good due to a fracture dislocated finger on his throwing hand. That’s 32 tds and 8 ints a season for the last few years. Is that bad ?
@skeezix his decline has been evident for the past few years especially in the clutch. I agree his stats have been good but his last two years he started off the year on life record setting paces in every category and then he fell apart at the end of the year completely because teams realize they could just sit and cover 2 because Russ refused to just take the easy short passes and was forcing the ball deep. Russ is a terrific play action passer, maybe the best to ever do it, but he refuses to accept that. That is what he’s best at and wants to be the best of everything so he tries to force big plays that will be shown on SportsCenter and ends up, causing himself a ton of problems.

Lol they had to bring Marshawn off the couch heading into a playoff run because five RB’s were out, 3 OL, 2 TE’s, etc. He basically carried a bunch of players die hard fans didn’t even know who they were.
@skeezix I hear you. The Seahawks for sure struggled with injuries. But the decline in his play was also evident just watching it. Like the decisions he was making were just worse. Don't forget that as late as 2017, when Kaepernick was let go by SF, there were rumors that the defense in SEA wanted management to sign him as a backup, but the front office was worried that it would undermine Russ because the defense had been calling him a boat anchor for years.

I understand that it's early in the season and I understand it's a new QB working with a new offence, and vice versa position players working with a new QB. With all of that being taken into account, I am STILL shocked at how poorly Russell Wilson has been playing...He's consistently making the wrong reads, and he's missed wide open guys multiple times which is why I think KJ Hamler reacted the way he did when he wasn't thrown the ball when he was wide open...It's insane how terrible the Broncos' move for Russell Wilson is looking already, going to be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for them.
That play blew my mind. Hamler should have been first read on that rub route and he was wide open. Maybe SB flashbacks scared him away from it?

You could literally get most any game manager qb in the league backup or otherwise to run that team especially with that impressive defense. No doubt his salary will impact the salaries of others on the team. He could be replaced with anyone and the X factor people expected isn't there. Cooper Rush is a better option and cheaper.

Also, Brady is in his 23rd season at 45 years old and going through a divorce, yet he still is playing better than Wilson in his supposed prime. So it's just not a like-for-like comparison.
As a Bills fan I was worried that there is a lot of great QB's in the AFC, but Russ isn't performing well with his new team, Carr is slowly coming around to learning he CAN'T lean on Adams, Tua is not in a good way with his back to back concussions, Matty looks to be on ice,........like I said I'm a Bills fan so I see it as KC & the Bills as the top tier and the only thing that can keep either of those 2 teams out are injuries or a complete meltdown.

Carroll has a great way of getting rid of washed players just in time. Lynch, Wilson, Kj Wright, Chancellor, Earl, etc. He is a master at knowing when that decline hits.

One thing I have learned over the years watching the NFL is most teams think they will be great and are excited about their new players...or at least the fans do and are. But they only think about their team and not the fact that every other team has the same mindset and goal with a fanbase just as hyped up as them. So I learned to let the season play out a bit before I ever get excited about my team.

To be fair to Matt Ryan, his O-Line could have been replaced by a wall of sponges and still had less holes in it than the group protecting him on Thursday. While it's undeniable that he sucked, he wasn't as responsible for his team's ineptitude as Wilson was.
Go back to the graphic that they had up at halftime. In the first half Ryan had 23 dropbacks and was hurried 6 times, hit 3 times, sacked 4 times = 13 pressures, 10 clean pockets. Fatty Poser dropped back 18 times, 1 sack, no other hurries or pressures.
But Matt Ryan is not trying to be something he is not. He is not calling himself Mr Unlimited and whatever other goofy self proclaimed name he can come up with. He is not trying to act important or like he is a hollywood star. And he at least put up a fight. Wilson had no sense of urgency whatsoever.
Guy dresses up in fancy clothes and “arrives in style” better than he plays. He deserves the heat.
