Thanks for the review, really nice to see something else than Olfa, although I'm still not convinced to any other brand.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I appreciate your work and I have bought many tools that you reviewed.
The reason the Knipex isn’t marked “Made in Germany”, like most of their tools, is because it’s made in Spain 🇪🇸.

Nowadays there are many great tools manufactured in Spain.
Most of the highest quality adjustable wrenches like Bahco/Snap-On and Irega that also produce for Channellock and Klein Tools, are all made in Spain.
The Grip-on brand is also well regarded for their locking pliers and they made it for Snap-On aswell.

Good review. Olfa blades are that good. They have alot of good styles of knives. I had an aluminium one with a nice rubber over molding. I've lost 2 Olfa knives at work and now waiting for the cutix to arrive as a replacement. I have the Olfa LBB10K black replacement blades that I really like. I might have to try out that Kai knife, I've never seen those before and they would make cutting up amazon purchases a breeze. Those Garants look nice too, similar to one that Olfa offers. Just bought a cutix (in the UK, but I doubt that's relevant) the blades now have a Knipex logo and P/N 90 10 165 E02 instead of Tajima
Great vid, like the look of the garant. I use a Tajima Quick back (blade snaps back for safety) with Tajima Razar black blades and I love it.
Two notes about the Knipex:
It's one of the few knifes of this style that is well suited for lefthanded people since it doesn't get unlocked by a push from the top of the slide nor is there something like a screw lock sticking out.
Second, and that might not be important but always bothered me about many of these knives, is the pin holding the blade is actually steel and not plastic. Many of these knives have a metal grip, but the only actually strained part is plastic - makes no sense.

You should try OLFA knives as well. They are that good. I always test sharpness on the thumb part of my palm. What is that called I have no idea. Anyways, OLFA blades grab that skin harder than any other knife I’ve ever felt, and I use a 16,000 grit sharpening stone on my plane blades and chisels.
I watched only to see what these looked like. None of them seem to compare to my NT Cutter Heavy Duty Aluminum Cartridge Knife. Quality is fantastic and feels solid. None of those plastic handles and has a wheel to lock the blade in place for even more stability. Cost less than all of these too.
The NT cutters are very good. I have one too and I really like it.
Olfa rocks.
Use a pair of pliers to remove the blade on the Cutix and to reinstall one.

I think that the Kai corner-cutting feature was primarily designed for cutting milk cartons during preparation for recycling. I saw milk cartons mentioned in many Amazon Japan utility knife reviews. I got a different Kai utility knife last week, an L-002, and after examining it I think it is the epitome of Japanese housewife utility knives. It has 24 karat gold plating and an unusual, blunter tip one one end that I guess is a safer packing tape cutting tool. The handle has a second, grippy material molded over portions of the body, and is curved to fit your right hand comfortably. That ergonomic design feature also makes it extra awkward for lefties like me, so I'm going to pass this ladies craft knife on to someone else. Love my Kai 7250L shears, but will stick to NT Cutter and Olfa from now on for Japanese utility knives.
I bought one of the new Knipex knives after giving the Kai a thumbs-down. It hasn't arrived yet, but I think the blade back is mainly for extra lateral stability.
The Garant sure looks similar to Japanese designs; I wonder if NT or Olfa make it for them.
