    This is an amazing video, I can't wait to watch your others, as I'm waiting for my first klipper pad for one of my SV06+ to begin the klipper adventure! If things go as well as they do in your video, I'll be buying for the rest of them. Now, a very important question - where did you get the Sovoler T-Shirt? I have 5 Sovol printers, so I think I should get myself one! 🤣🍁 EDIT: I hope this channel blows up for you - you make EXCELLENT videos.

    Today, I still managed to get an x2 increase in speed, after I carefully did all the calibrations once again and edited printer.cfg, specifying in it the parameters obtained after resonance tests:
    shaper_type_y:zv shaper_freq_y:29.8
    damping_ratio_y:0.005
    shaper_type_x:mzv shaper_freq_x:47.4

    I am very pleased with the result. Maybe it's not even the speed limit.

    Thanks for the video; good explanation. Concerning the print quality: I cannot read the text on the back side of the boat. Did you run the input shaping calibration test? Or is 23 minutes a bit too fast? With a 1 hour benchy the text is well readable (with Klipper based on Bassamanator's instructions for the SV06 plus)

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, 23 minutes is too fast for the back text to be legible. It is not readable on either of the the 22-23 minute prints. The 40 minute version printed using Marlin (at 10:19) is a tiny bit better, but still not readable. I might do another comparision print this time concentrating on quality instead of speed. To tell the truth, I mainly print functional items and prototyping, so speed is more important for my use case than quality (since the upgrade I actually put back the 0.6mm nozzle in my SV06 Plus).

      You might have the wrong variant of the screen. If you have the SV06+ printer and accidentally ordered the regular SV06 variant, you can download the SV06+ printer.cfg file from the bottom of the cura page linked from the description (it's included in the "config files") and simply replace the contents of your printer.cfg.
      If that doesn't help, you can download the thumb drive contents too and flash the SV06+ Firmware.bin to the motherboard.

    Thanks for the great video! I turned out to be one of the inattentive and hasty guys who ordered the wrong version. Thank you for posting the files for 06+. However, I have already changed the configuration file and everything seems to be working. But there is a problem. Sometimes there is an offset along the Y axis. It seems that the acceleration of 4000 is the maximum with such kinematics, I put 3000 in the end. Do you think wider belts are required for stable operation with an acceleration of more than 4000? What is your acceleration and printing speed? I print the outer walls at 100 and the inner walls at 150 as before installing the Klipper screen . It seems impossible to increase the speed by 2 times without upgrading the kinematics. I use this type of blowout system - The Nautilus - Sovol SV06 Fan Duct 5015 Blower Fan V4 by Leander Perez Blanco with my modification for 06+ and I was hoping to print 2 times faster)

    Hey :)
    As i'm planning to buy the sv06/07 + version i have a huge dilema, maybe you have an answer :D The 07 feels like a bit of a stepback from the 6, with the bed adjustment to the rollers, as i see the big part cooling fan adjustment is not really possible and that can be a problem later down the line with petg or other materials, etc... The 06 with a Klipper pad looks a bit better for what i want to do, basically sooner or later remove the screen, psu, control box and put the rest of the printer in a box to print abs, asa and stuff, while the temp sensitive parts are mounted outside... Is there any real benefit to get a 07 insted of a 06 + klipper set? The only one i see is the lack of the native 06 + klipper preset in orca, but maybe the 07 program would work too, or i can import from cura... Thank you in advance, another Gergő :D

      @gerGoPrint3D  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The SV07/+ comes with a set of spacers that can be used instead of the leveling wheels. It's up to you. I kept the leveling wheels to make the job of auto bed leveling system easier, less to compensate with the bed mesh. Yes, it would be trickier to install a part cooling upgrade on the SV07/+ extruder, but it is not needed there, since the auxiliary carpet fan does a very good job. Currently I run it between 30-60% for PLA, and OFF-30% for PETG (PETG needs less cooling!). It provides enough cooling even when using 0.6mm and 0.8mm nozzles at high speeds.
      The SV06+ in my opinion only has disadvantages comparted to the SV07+, unless you plan to print 24/7 and expect to wear down the POM wheels more often then a normal yearly cycle (they cost 15 cent a piece, about $10 a whole set). BTW replacing the wheels is not more work than lubricating the bearings. If you print

      Yes, please check my latest video, I designed a new back for the Klipper screen, which can enhouse a cooling fan (very necessary!) and even added a special locking mechanism for the attachment to the screen bracket. I am also in the process of designing a go-pro type of mount for the screen so you can use and GoPro compatible mounting solution to secure the screen.

    Can the SV06+ with and without the Meanwell power supply upgrade handle ABS? Seems like the combination of large bed and small power supply might not have the ability to get the bed to temp.

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      SV06 Plus already has a bigger power supply than the smaller SV06 (450W vs 300W). It is sufficient to keep the bed heated to 100°C. I only refer to the even bigger PSU in the SV07+ contributing to quicker bed heat up.

    Here's a question - I've alreaady updated my SV-06+ (and SV-06) to Kilpper using the Creality Sonic Pad. Things are running smoothly, but I'm wondering if this would be a better solution on the 06+. Any thoughts?

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Klipper is Klipper. I think their current performance and features are equivalent. Setup for the Sovol is probably a lot easier with the SV06+ and requires almost no prior understanding, just following 20 minuntes of setup instructions, while setting up the Sonic Pad with this specific printer might have required a bit more research and trial and error. Long term I feel you might be better off with the Sonic Pad, since over the air updates are disabled in the Sovol screen, and I doubt they would provide too many sideloadable updates themselves. Yet, the current function set will keep working indefinitely into the future, so we get what we paid for. Another point is reusability: it will probably take more effort to connect a different printer to the Sovol than to the Sonic pad when we finally decide to part with the SV06+. So it's pros and cons. Quicker, easer setup vs higher customizability and longer tern usability.

    I just got my very first printer and chose the sv06+ with klipper, but I have this issue that bothers me a lot and maybe you have an idea how to fix it. Printing the first layer goes smooth, but after that, the next ~1mm of wall is printed more to the inside of the model, making the first layer easy to rip. So what I mean by that is that the sides have a V shape channel in the walls after the first layer. Do you have any idea how to fix this? I have been googling about it for hours and I have done hundreds of bed leveling and z-offset calibrations

    Hallo Gergo
    In your opinion is the sv07 plus or the 6 plus with Clipper Upgrade the better hardware or printer ? Wich prints look better ? Speed is not so important.
    Is the print quality of sv08 much better ?
    Thank you a lot.
    Regards Marcus

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the SV08 is in a different league. But it also costs double. For the price, I definitely recommend the SV07 Plus. The SV06 Plus with Klipper will never come close to the convenience and quality of the SV07 Plus. Printing speed is the same after SV06+ Klipper upgrade. But the single z driver is a hassle, smaller PSU means bed heat up takes twice as long, nozzle heat up is slower too. Part cooling needs to be upgraded if you ever think of running SV06+ at Klipper speeds, SV07+ has that out of the box. Other quality of life advantages like extruder lighting and silent idle mode due to controlled fans make the SV07+ a much better device to have. Often linear rods are praised over POM wheels, but the flexibility of POM wheels has a resonanse dampening effect, input shaper on the SV07+ has much less to do, so you get more precise, sharper corners a overall tighter, higher quality prints at the same time. It is also much quieter than the squeeky linear bearings on the SV06+ no matter how much you grease them. Greasing bearings is much messier and about the same amount of maintenance work as replacing the POM wheels every one-two years at normal use. Maybe if you are planning to use these printers in a print farm 24/7 the linear rods could be a benefit, but at normal, everyday operation (20-40 hours of print per week) the SV07+ is a clear winner. I have both, I use both. SV07+ prices right now make it the clear choice now. If you can spend twice the price, the SV08 is the next recommended option. (You can see order links to all of these in the description of my video)

      Yes, absolutely. That's exactly what I do in Orca Slicer. You will have to adjust cooling though, because SV06 cooling is way weaker than SV07, so either slow down a bit, or add a fan mod. Also, standard SV06 doesn't use the high flow nozzles SV06 Plus and SV07/Plus uses, so you will need to take about 65% of the volumetric speed of SV07 filament profiles.

    I am also running klipper on my sv06 and sv06 plus. One is running a rasverry pi 3b and btt tft50 screen in a case and a pad 7 on the other. It was a nice improvement. For those who want klipper for one printer and want a clean look then this option is great. I think it is a great idea. And the sv06 line is better then the sv07 line in my opinion. I don't like the fact they went with v wheels. I understand why as it would have been much harder to add a part cooling Blower but they could have gone with linear rails instead and could have been ahead of the others. Of even used the metal wheels that neptune use. That is the biggest reason why most of us chose to buy the sv06 line and add klipper after the fact. Thanks for the great video

      @@monsterstorm78 I don't have personal experience with the SV06, but based on what I read about it, the Plus has many important improvements compared to it. If you have a chance to sell or give the SV06 to someone an SV06+ with Klipper would be a major upgrade:
      ► 2.5 bigger build volume (not only for big things but also for many small things and complete prints instead of breaking them into multiple passes)
      ► color touch screen for easier, quicker control
      ► larger heater block and longer nozzle means more consistent flow at higher speeds (especially important in case of Klipper upgrade)
      ► disproportionally thicker linear rods mean more stability (even at bigger size)
      ► reduced z axis wobble, tilting due to bearings at the top of the z screws
      ► filament runout sensor
      ► smoother filament feeding due to bearings in the filament holder
      ► insulated bed heating for improved thermal efficiency and more even heat distribution
      ► disproportionally larger power supply for quicker bed / nozzle heat up
      ► extra linear bearing in the bed (4 instead of 3) for increased stability.

    Thanks for the video. I've no idea why Sovol went backwards with the SV07+. The dual tubes are better X-axis speed of the SV06 than the belt + truss like the Sv07. They also removed the dual bed rail architecture of the SV06+ and they decided for single rail. The most puzzling change is that they added bed tensioners in the SV07+, whereas they are amiss in the SV06+ (and IMO the better choice). Bed tensioners are a thing of the past, IMO, not sure why Sovol went backwards on their next iteration of the SV06+

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The jury is out on linear rails vs v-slot wheels. Sovol, being a good company offers both options, giving us the choice. The SV06Plus with Klipper or SV07 Plus can achieve similar speeds, but each have their advantages.
      POM wheels produce nicer surface finish thanks to the resonance dampening effects of flexible POM contact and tighter cupling of the motion system. Yes, they might need a bit more maintenance but they can provide nicer prints, especially on fast moving printers. And the motion system is not the only difference between the two: the SV07+ comes with superior power supply, twice as fast bed heating and a sufficient part cooling solution matching the speed of Klipper. Controllable built in extruder light, double sided build plate, anti-backlash z-nuts and automatic z-sync alignment are the cherry on the top.
      The SV06 Plus costs more if ordered with the Klipper addition, still needs extra work with preliminary lubrication not to mention the extra upgrades which can and should be carried out, like the part cooling upgrade. And it will still lag behind the SV07 Plus in term of convenience because of the slower bed heating, missing light and other nice to haves. And if all done it will still not produce as perfect output due to inherent properties of less flexible motion system coupling.
      Regarding the bed leveling wheels. They are optional on the SV07/Plus. Fixed spacers are included. Look at the SV06/Plus forums, everybody goes out of their way to bring back bed leveling via silicone spacers and what not, to provide a physically more level bed to help the automatic leveling system. The SV07 Plus simply comes with this option available out of the box, and again, leaves the choice to us, users if we want to manually level or leave it all to the automatic system.
      I would not write down the SV07 line as "going back". The two printer lines offer different sets of advantages. As said, we the customers are entitled to make the choice! Few 3D printer maker offers both options at such competitive prices. I am very curios what is in the future with the Comgrow fusion. Maybe a machine that combines all the advantages???

The Sovol Klipper Screen is preconfigured to work with the SV06 or SV06+ with minimal setup from the user. Other printers and Klipper pads will need the standard research and trial and error. If the old screen stops working the update was successful, and then you can connect the new screen (unleass you updated the firmware with the wrong version, make sure to use the SV06 or SV06 Plus variant with your printer. Check if you received the right variant! My cura profile website has the thumbdrive contents for the SV06+ linked in the description above).
