I salute your self-control in NOT shouting “I’m Julian Marsh, damnit!!” for the length of this video. I played Marsh back in school, and to this day, I scream that line into the heavens.
I was in a stage production of 42nd Street a few years ago. It occurred to me that it's basically Phantom of the Opera with the scary elements removed.
I've never seen 42nd Street, but I was astonished by how much of it I recognized. That shot of the camera going through the many pairs of legs is basically the first image to appear when someone thinks of Busby Berkeley. This movie may have had a mediocre story, but it had legendary choreography, and did it ever have lines of dialogue. "You've got to come back a star" is a line that has lasted for nearly ninety years. I think it says something that something acted so poorly has lasted so long.
The moment when Craig bops Matt on the head at 10:52 made me laugh so hard! :D And by the way, speaking of musicals, have you seen Cats Don't Dance? One of my favourites growing up. Randy Newman's songs are great.
If you want to do musicals, have you seen 1776? It’s so stunningly good. It really brings history to life in a fun way. I also LOVE Calamity Jane. It’s one of the few Doris Day movies where Ms. Day is playing a character and not herself (to me). The score is amazing too. Both mix comedy, drama and music so well.
I'm curious to know if either of you have seen Shadows and Fog, Woody Allen's 1991 homage to German Expressionism? I think it highly underrated in Allen's filmography.

Have you seen Dick Powell as Philip Marlowe in "Murder My Sweet?" Because of this movie they couldn't call it by its original title: "Farewell My Lovely" because people would've thought that it was a musical. Even though he's a bit of a dud in this movie, Dick Powell played some great Private Eyes in later years. Check it out.

I'm not trying to sound like i think people steal my jokes LoL, they were comments i made out loud years ago to OLD movies, the only way anyone would be able to know what i said is if they were watching with me at the time.
