Thank you for the recipe. It turned out great. I used leg quarters. However, I got food burn multiple times while cooking the rice. It was actually burned at the bottom and the rice ended up half-cooked. I did not know how that happened even after adding water and scraping the bottom. I had to add another cup of water and re-cook it.

If it is layered biryani shud we reduce the time of pressure cook ? Bcoz rice is already half cooked

Sorry not sure how I missed this comment here. I haven’t made layered biryani in the Instant Pot. But yes you’d need to reduce the time by a few minutes if the rice is half cooked. But also consider how much is the chicken cooked. It’s best if chicken also is almost cooked to ensure it’s not undercooked or over cooked.

LOVE THE RECIPE! However, when i let it pressure cook in the end, my instant pot says “food burn”. Any tips on how to avoid this?

Yeah, one thing you can check is when roasting onions - there are times when it can stick to the base, which can trigger a burn signal. But you if add some water and scrape the base, it will be fine, and then you will not get the burn alert when in pressure cook mode. Hope this helps.

Happened with me too even though I cleaned the base after frying onions. There is some issue in this method of cooking rice together with chicken. You gotta cook rice separately 80% and then transfer it to pot and keep rice only on the top of chicken. Hope it helps 😊

My Indian friends go on and on about biryani. I've had it quite a few times. Never understood the rage. I tried this recipe (halved ingredients), Mrs Spice, you are a fucking legend. This tastes amazing! Now I like biryani 😊

Can anyone explain why my instant pot always burns the food on the bottom ? I followed the exact same procedure twice but unfortunately both the times it got burnt.

Did you scrape the bottom as suggested?
