@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes I cooked it last night and it was sublime. The whole family loved it so now it’s one of my go-to recipes! You are a star 🌟 Thank you. 😃
I have a 6 quart instant pot pro and this turned out Amazing, it cooked very well for such a expensive machine. But what I recommend instead of doing a quick release when it ends. I do a 10 minute Natural Pressure Release then I do the quick release after 10 minutes. It just helps make the rice look fluffy and tasty.
I have to compliment you for this recipe. The one thing that you have got 100% perfect is the amount of water you have added to the rice. You have explained the calculation behind it beautifully. Before this, I used to put 3 cups of water for 2 cups of rice. I used 2 cups of water as you suggested and it came out perfect.

Hi, thank you so much for your recipe. If we are using a biryani masala box instead can you please tell then when to add the masala in this recipe? thank you
You can add while adding turmeric powder. Most store bought biryani masala powders are concentrated, add about 1 tap along with other powders or skip the rest and add just 1 tbsp of biryani masala powder for every cup of rice you add. Hope this helps and plsdo get back after trying🙂🙏
Hello Seema, I have mentioned in the video, natural pressure release will get a softer texture for rice but not mushy. Keeping them too long will make the rice at the bottom to cake up from all the steam that settles, transfer right away after the natural pressure settles. Hope this helps🙂🙏thanks for trying!
All your masala and procedure is excellent and turned out to be the best Biryani I made so far in Instant pot. Only problem is when I put rice and pressure cook for 5 minutes the instant pot shows message food burnt message and I had to off the instant pot and wait for some time and try again. Did you also face this? If yes how did you go about with this problem? Thanks
Thank you for the feedback, yes that burn display is quite common in most 6 quart size I guess. Many in this thread have also mentioned the same problem. Unfortunately I don't have a solution to fix it. Sensor can show burn display for many reasons, Slow cooking with a little sprinkle of water could fix, brand of rice, soaking time, water measure, base gravy consistency... every single thing matters to make the perfect grain. Instant pot can be tricky when it comes to cooking rice, guess we figure by trial & error. Add 1/4 cup extra water the next time you make it and see if it could help. Thanks! 🙂
@@xxNightWarrior2 if the pressure settles and if the lid lock is released, you may sprinkle room temperature water about 1/4 cup and then start over. The texture rice will be a ??? as we recooking it. Give it a try and let me know if you succeed. Thanks!
Hi Mullai, this looks simply delicious 🤤. Your videos are very clear to understand. I’ve tried several of your other recipes and they were a big hit. Thank you 🙏
The recipe is awesome, and the food turned out amazing! Thank you so much! I did encounter one problem when making it, however. I got the "burn" notice twice when I tried to make it during the pressure cooking phase. I followed the same water ratio as recommended, you think I could've added more? Any recommendations to combat this issue? Thanks in advance! 😊
Thank you so much Faraaz🙂🙏 Well, burn warning is actually a common problem for most 6 quart size. If your rice cooks perfectly with the above water measure, then ignore. There are few things you can try... make sure the valve is sealed properly, simply vent out extra steam manually to cool down the inner pot and the last resort is to add more water which will mess up the texture of rice. As long as the rice comes out ok, ignore the warning. All I have is a 3quart mini, never had any issue so far. Anyways thanks for your feedback 🙏hope this helps!
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes The issue I had is that the burn warning showed up before the pressure was even built. The rice hadn't yet cooked fully. Anyway, I probably might've messed something up, or like you said, it could be that the pot isn't sealed properly and I need to check the valve or gasket. It's brand new though, sucks if that's the problem.
@@fuzzy_pixels You may have stirred the rice too much. Also, really deglaze the bottom of the pot before adding the rice. Anything stuck to the bottom will cause the burn notice.
Lovely recipe! I just made it and it tastes great! I just had one issue during the pressure cooking part, when I set it for five mins on high, in a few mins itself the IP started showing me a message saying “Food Burn”, I instantly turned off the pressure cooker and opened the lid and everything was fine, the rice and chicken were cooked well but just a bit at the bottom of the pot got burned. How can I avoid this or why did it happen? Was it coz the water was less or the time was too high?

@@shivanithakur-lj8bd Check if you have sealed the vent properly, mine is instant pot mini... not sure of 6 quart settings. Normally the first whistle should happen in that time frame if your pressure cooker is good and thereafter 10 minutes over low flame if using traditional pressure cooker but water measure varies. Please check my pressure cooker chicken biryani recipe. This time and water measure is only for Instant Pot. Thank you 🙏
Hello Deena, yes from the time you start it's saute mode until you add water and close. Then you pressure cook and do a manual pressure release after 5 minutes. Thanks!
About 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often. Whole cut chicken with bones take longer to cook. Make sure to cook the chicken about 90% before adding rice. Thanks!

Hello Mullai. Thank you for the video! I halved the ingredients to cook in a 3qt Instant pot, but got "food burn" as soon as the IP came to pressure. I cooked in saute mode for about 30 mins from start before converting to pressure cook mode. I can't figure out how to avoid the burn issue, would greatly appreciate your input!
@@duckypaddle222 hello Yamini 🙂 mine is 3 quart too....it happens only if the water measure is less, did the base gravy look too dry? That could be one other reason. Please make sure to seal the vent properly, if steam escapes while cooking loosing all the water, then there are chances for it get burnt at the bottom. If none of this applies then add 1/4 cup extra water for every cup of water to solve the problem🤗 Thank you!
Yes you may use mutton or beef but cooking method varies as mutton / beef takes longer to cook. Please refer this video for the same th-cam.com/video/FM0ulTI8YOY/w-d-xo.html Thank you🙂🙏

@@daphne201239 it works for veggies too. But you don't have to saute long like chicken...veggies cook faster compared to meat. Rest applies with time and temp🙂 Do let me know after trying🙏 Thanks Sici!
It will, for sure! Marination does make a difference in taste, more flavorful juicy tender chicken. On the other hand, if time doesn't permit, you may also make it instantly too.🙂🙏
This is a very common issue with Instant Pot 6 quart, only way is to add more water while cooking. It will be a trial & error for the first time until you figure the right water measure and then follow the same measure everytime for the brand ( basmati rice). Even though it shows burn warning..it still cooks and once that is done, immediately remove the inner pot and place it over a tray filled with room temperature water or cold water for 5 minutes. It will detach the rice sticking to bottom and right away transfer the contents. Hope this helps, let me know after trying these.
Yes you may but cooking time will vary. It may take about 30 to 45 minutes over low flame. Cover with a tight lid and slow cook. Rice Water ratio 1:2 , cook rice over high high flame first 5 minutes, then cover and cook covered for 30 to 45 minutes over very low flame. Thank you 🙏
@@buhlechildofgodmadlala306 yes you may🙂 but make sure to saute well to cook it almost 75% before adding rice. Depending on size, in general drumsticks take longer to cook, it will be hard to adjust cooking time as rice will turn mushy if cooked longer, hence make sure to cook chicken 75% done and the rest will cook along with rice. Hope this helps, thanks 🙏
I don't even know where to get some of these ingredients. I've been wanting to start cooking authentic Indian dishes. Which instant Pot model are you using in the video?
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes Thanks for the reply. It is very diverse where I live. I will look into the shops/markets. Your video is awesome. I have only tried Indian cuisine at a restaurant. One of my dear friends and his family that I've known since elementary school was from Trinidad. His mother used to cook some amazing food! It was my favorite type of food. I know it is not 100% 'Indian', but the Indians brought the tradition with them. They incorporate and appreciate the gems that Indians brought thousands of miles with them.
Such an amazing video! Can’t wait to make this. Thank you 😊
Thank you Iman 🙏🙂do try and let me know!
Hi I want to ask if you want use mutton or beef instead of chicken. Will be every thing same way. Or it will be different
Yes you may use mutton or beef but cooking method varies as mutton / beef takes longer to cook. Please refer this video for the same

Thank you🙂🙏
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes thanks too much it’s really help
If I am making 4 cups of rice should I increase the time of pressure cooking ?
Just the rice water ratio needs to be changed, the cooking time is still the same. Thanks!
Can I do it the same way in a large pot, if I don’t have a pressure cooker?
Yes you may but cooking time will vary. It may take about 30 to 45 minutes over low flame. Cover with a tight lid and slow cook. Thank you 🙏
Theiyvamey!! Super!! Pls post more recipes with instant pot (Nutricook).
Kandippa ☺️Zareena, will add more pa. Thank you so much dear!
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes Mullai, hashtag la Nutricook add panni vidunga.. here (in UAE) many ppl bought this and left it to collect dust since there are no recipes. "treadmill aachum towel kayapoda uthavum.. ithu yeadatha adichitu irukku" feeling.
@@Roshmom oh looks similar to insta pot, sure will add in those too. Thank you so much Zareena❤️
I tried today and turned out really amazing !
Thanks for sharing 👍
That's awesome Shree, thank you so much for dropping in a feedback🙂🙏
what size is this instant pot please?
It's 3-quart Instant pot duo mini. 🙏
Awesome, Teach some dry vegetables on Instant pot
Thank you Dayal, sure will add a few!
Is it the same amount of time / temp is only doing vegetables?
I can't wait to try with cauliflower, other veggies, and garbanzo beans.
@@daphne201239 it works for veggies too. But you don't have to saute long like chicken...veggies cook faster compared to meat. Rest applies with time and temp🙂 Do let me know after trying🙏 Thanks Sici!
What about sella rice? What will be the instant pot timings?
The same timing might work, its parboiled basmati rice.
are you using 3qt instant pot in this video?
Yes, it's a 3 quart instant pot.
Hi Mulai…I stumbled upon this and instantly recognized your voice. This is Roy from Dr aysolas office from 15 years ago
Wow😃Roy! How have you been? Hope you and your family are doing well 🙂 If you are on Instagram, do ping me.
Btw- it took me 45 min to make this recipe and everyone loved it!! Thanks again
@@1981roys happy to hear Roy🙂regards to all at home🙏
I made this today and it was excellent!
That's awesome, thank you so much for giving it a try and writing us a feedback, appreciate it!
2.44 salte for few mins .? Should I close the lid? Or just leave it opened ?
You will only close once, that is after adding rice. Use saute mode for the rest. Hope this helps, thank you 🙏
Need a nice tuna pickle to go with it
I agree 🙂🙏thank you!
Wonder if this will taste better if you were to marinate the meat in yogurt and spices overnight..
It will, for sure! Marination does make a difference in taste, more flavorful juicy tender chicken. On the other hand, if time doesn't permit, you may also make it instantly too.🙂🙏
Any tips to avoid food burning ? Every time I try I get the food burn warning..
If you don't have an instant pot can I cook it on a normal pot on a normal stove?
Yes you may but cooking time will vary. It may take about 30 to 45 minutes over low flame. Cover with a tight lid and slow cook. Rice Water ratio 1:2 , cook rice over high high flame first 5 minutes, then cover and cook covered for 30 to 45 minutes over very low flame. Thank you 🙏
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes can I use chicken drumsticks?
@@buhlechildofgodmadlala306 yes you may🙂 but make sure to saute well to cook it almost 75% before adding rice. Depending on size, in general drumsticks take longer to cook, it will be hard to adjust cooking time as rice will turn mushy if cooked longer, hence make sure to cook chicken 75% done and the rest will cook along with rice. Hope this helps, thanks 🙏
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes yes it helps alot. Thank you😊
I don't even know where to get some of these ingredients. I've been wanting to start cooking authentic Indian dishes. Which instant Pot model are you using in the video?
All these ingredients are easily available in most Indian grocery stores. I have used 3 quart mini duo Instant Pot. Thank you 🙏
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes Thanks for the reply. It is very diverse where I live. I will look into the shops/markets. Your video is awesome. I have only tried Indian cuisine at a restaurant. I thought it was great but some people told me it gets even better than that particular place I went to.
It is amazing flavors and food. I can't wait. I want to master making these special foods. Thete is nothing like it. Never bland and keeps your taste buds alive and craving more.
@@miguelquazar883 thanks. Infact you can even get few of these through Amazon ... Here is my Amazon affiliate page, have saved some www.amazon.com/shop/spiceindiaonline?listId=2ACDURN98UQMM
Did the chicken cook ???
what do you mean by that??? cooking time is clearly mentioned in the video, pls check!
How much water to add if I want to cook with 3 cups of rice?
For 3 cups of rice it will be 4 & 1/2 cups. Thanks!
@@spiceindiaonlinerecipes
1 cup will be from chicken as you mentioned. So for 3 cups of rice, add 3 and half cups of water, right ?
Hoe much longer to cook if I use 3 cups of rice ?
👍
Thank you 🙏🙂
I tried twice, unfortunately mine was burned from the bottom. Don't know what gone wrong
