The problem is the marketing, in the states the big pickups like a Ram 1500 are the soccer mums car, an everyday driver, the true towing Ram is the 2500 or 3500. In Australia all pickups regardless are marketed on towing capacity and Ram, Chevy importers etc are buying into the same hype instead of focusing on the 1500 as being a reliable all rounder family vehicle, offering a combination of real space, comfort, luxury and the capacity to throw a few things in the tray like some camping gear and a mountain bike at a reasonable affordable price. In fact you’d think toyota would offer the landcruiser wagons in a 300 series pickup, oh wait they do it’s called a Tundra and isn’t in Australia. Now we have the average show boat buying a 1500 thinking bigger is better and they can tow tonnes of stuff, when they should be buying a small truck or the 2500 or 3500.

The diff upgrade is good... but the best mod award goes to the mud flaps. Those are legit!

I hope you put a sticker or some type of information on the vehicle to tell the mechanic that the rear wheel bearings are serviceable.
And also the information on how to go about the service as some mechanics have had nothing to do with serviceable bearings or adjustments.
You have come up a good upgrade.
I’m only guessing that they are not wet running bearings?

I need a 700,000 tonne rear axle to carry my house, pool, land and tennis court etc. I’m tired of doing things in halves towing 10 tonnes and using 40l per 100.

Great video Jason! I think I know the answer to my question, but why don't you export these? I assume its because of the AU legal requirements you refer to. The closest equivalent I've been able to source here in the US is a full rear axle replacement. Your solution is much more appealing to me. I would like to increase the axle load while still maintaining my factory air suspension.

I had my 200 series gvm upgrade by a company here in Toowoomba and they did the opposite to you
They left the diff in the car and welded plates everywhere for their re rati g
We have had nothing but drama with it since
We have other companies look at it and all state in paperwork etc the diff has twisted from the welding and when the gvm company is given this info they say we weld by using a jug on the car and diff is not pulled apart nor taken out at all
No wonder we have major issues and have to sell our loved 200
Next time as we are in Toowoomba we will be booki g in with you lit as we are going to go with a new dodge ram ( yes our 200 is a oet ol model lol )
