    A 4 inch lift and bigger tyres and this thing would be a weapon off road! Like most utes, they need the mods to be fantastic off road

    i did not know yall had our north american trucks over there i thought yall only had your smaller utes... cool to see a ram over there on the dirt, believe it or not thats still a fairly small truck for north american standards, theres 3500, 4500, 5500, 6500, etc etc.... but 2500 is most common over here as your sort of entry level heavy duty diesel.

      It’s a ute, or utility vehicle! I drive a “truck” for a living. That pulls more than 30 tonnes. Can’t understand Americans calling these things “trucks”.

    • @lg8188
      @lg8188 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah they are made to carry a lot more. It’s all about that 4500 mark and licences

    • @longdongjohn6588
      @longdongjohn6588 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This is downrated to 4500 to sell in bigger numbers to car license holders. You can upgrade to a 3500 with more comparable GVM figures to the US versions but you'll need basic truck license.

    Looks like the ram 2500 power wagon would be a better suit for that off road testing

  • @LyfovRyan51
    @LyfovRyan51 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Doesn't look suited to the off roading scene, but I believe it would make a good towing vehicle.

    • @idriss.musa.
      @idriss.musa. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That’s because the Laramie is not designed for off-roading, it’s designed to be a luxury hauler.
      The Ram 2500 Power Wagon is the off-roader, has a low range transfer case, locking front and rear diffs and a higher clearance. Let’s hope we get this model in Australia.

    8000lb towing? Must be the towing weight rules are different down under them in North America. Canadian 2500 rams are rated at something like 16000lbs towing.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rough ride comes from it being sprung for at least 2,500 lbs. The only reason that the payload is lower in Australia is because they de-rate them to meet Aussie licensing limits.

    if you hang 4 and a 1/2 tonne off the arse, what payload do you have left? why don't reviewers talk about real world GVM and GCM of the vehicles they review? because once examined the vehicles sold in Australia are shit with respect to GVM and GCM. which is why lift kits, vehicle upgrades, air bags etc are so popular. thing is the chassis and diffs are still the same OEM. oh and the trucks, like the 2500 are tow vehicles, maybe towing a van to some secluded beach and NOT real off roaders. but neither is a new patrol of Cruiser now, without spending money upgrading them.
