Hummer H3 Transfer Case Fluid Change

Hello and welcome to Wild Country Adventures. In this video I’m changing out the transfer care fluid in my 2007 Hummer H3. I’m using GM part number 88861800, which is ACDelco 10-4033 manual transmission fluid / transfer care fluid. Be sure to check your owner’s manual as different year H3’s takes different types of fluid. This can be purchased on Amazon for $12.36 a quart and it’s going to take 1.6 quarts. For the 2006 and early 2007 models you’ll need to remove the speed sensor to get the proper amount of fluid into the transfer case. This is extremely easy maintenance and took about 40 minutes from start to finish.

I had the same thing happen when I dropped my drain plug. I just about dumped some fluid on the ground 🤷🏼

Hello and Thanks for the video.....Did you just pump the fluid till it started to come out the fill hole, or how did you know when you hit .6 on the 2nd bottle ??

Got a question I know manual says manual fluids 88861800 but my h3 is an automatic a 2007 with rear lock should I stick with 88861800 (manual fluid) or use the new fluid Dexron Vi manual or automatic?

Just 2 questions please, do i expect any kind of winning sounds out of the TC when i change the fluid, or it is not the same as in the deferential?
2- do u recommend using an anti friction additives?

You should not be getting any winning sounds out of your transfer case. No, I did not add any friction additives.

Even if i havent changed it for some good long time, like 4 years/over 70k miles?
Some people got me scared of changing it, so it would wining...
So basically it is not the same case as with the deferentials, right?

What type of oil does it use?

I used ACDelco 10-4033 manual transmission fluid / transfer care fluid. This is what was called for in the owners manual for my 2007 H3 with the Adventure Package. Depending on the year of your H3 it may take a different type of oil. I would check your owners manual, or there are some great Hummer forums online where I am sure the best oil for any particular year has been discussed.
