My father had the same injury as you from his accident on his motorcycle. Like you, he had his car modified to drive and was able to thrive until his dying day. This happened back in 1980 in Corpus. I'm telling you this because I'm so impressed with your spirit, it reminds me of my dad's. Thank you for sharing.

Kathryn, that was heartbreaking to watch because of the pain being so raw for you. The sun can be a blessing and a curse when it's as low as that, and an accident of that magnitude can and did change your life in way's we can only hope never to experience. Yes your friend will be there by your side willing for you to be the best person that you can. I was lucky to only have a trapped cord after my accident, even so it was a terrible struggle with being hospital bed bound for 6x months and that was many many years ago but it's hard not to feel why me isn't it? But all I can say is why not me? I've my beliefs but not something I talk about much. You stay strong girl and educate those wee ones for the future! I'm John BTW.

Interestingly, my 15 year Old Granddaughter, just got her “MONTANA LEARNER License “, & has Driver Training now( Sophomore, in High School): She “drove” me to her Dancing Class last week, avoiding high* traffic multi lane (* She does have 10 Hours documented training so far)……. Beleive She is processing this “ driving Stuff”,& Dangers…….etc.

I can’t say I know what it’s like to have a spinal cord injury, but I do know the challenges of using a wheelchair. Have you ever been to an Ability Expo? If you haven’t you need to go. The expo will show you all kinds of cool equipment to make your life easier and a lot of times more fun. I might also make a suggestion for you to connect with the Texas Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. This agency can help pay for college or provide you adaptive equipment to allow you to pursue a vocation of your choosing. I live in Oklahoma and I’ve held a full time job at an independent living center as an independent living specialist. My state vocational rehabilitation agency helped me get around $18,000 worth of adaptive equipment including a wheelchair crane for my pickup, hand controls, a carbon fiber rigid frame chair and a Smartdrive power assist device to help save my shoulders.

I had my t4 shattered in a car accident 3 or 4 years ago. I got stuck on bed rest for a month or 2 and wearing back brace for at least 6 months and would use it sometimes after when I got back pain. Felt like a damn ninja turtle wearing that thing. I remember being fully conscious during my wreck. I'm curious so if you're comfortable saying (when I broke my back the pain was excursiating but I wasn't paralyzed) were you able to feel your back break in the accident? Also so sorry about your friend.😔
Like maybe a electronic chip that can be implanted in your spinal cord to help make you walk again. Im proud that you are living your life to the fullest extent. Don't let any negative force stop you from living.

This life is but a mist compared to being with God forever in eternity. God never promised this young girl a perfect life with no suffering. He does however promise forgiveness through faith in Jesus and eternal life. So despite being paralyzed, this young girl has THE greatest gift one could possibly have. And If you ask her, I bet she would tell you that she is absolutely blessed.

Hey, It’s okay when you don’t want to go down into detail! I was in an accident a year ago and even though I didn’t have it as bad as you it’s so so hard to talk about the details. I told people some details then stopped when it was too much for me. I know your friend is looking down on you keep up the good effort!

Your story is very inspiring to me. When I was 16 my girlfriend died in a car accident on the way to visit me, we were in a long distance relationship and we would meet in Atlanta Georgia (halfway point) and I felt like it was my fault for so long because I begged her to come and see me that weekend even tho it was inconvenient for her because she had a lot going on. I’m sure you feel responsible for what happened and I felt the same for so long and I dealt with it in the most unhealthy way for such a long time. I got addicted to drugs and started self harming to deal with my pain. I’m 24 now and thankfully I can say I’m clean from drugs. I’m so glad you’ve been able to stay positive and not let yourself be miserable like I did for a long time. If you ever need to talk let me know because I understand to a certain degree at least some of the emotions you may feel. Stay positive and keep working hard! You’re helping more people then you realize.
Driving is so dangerous and it takes many years to gain experience. I didn’t realize how much until I’d been driving for at least ten years. The accident wasn’t your fault, but I hope other teenagers hear this and realize they can’t drive distracted: it’s dangerous enough for newer drivers without distractions! You can try to do everything right like Kathryn and weird stuff happens anyway. Blessings to you - you are changing lives by sharing your story and journey and keeping Sarah alive and introducing her to more people.

Tragic, but immediately It is obvious you are not taking responsibility. How come I don't hear not even 1 "I'm sorry?" It also seems you're leaving out some facts. Like perhaps you and your girlfriend were giggling or were looking at your phone or even texting. Or maybe even on the phone while this happened. Also, you're use of the English word, KNOW is incorrect because you don't know what your friend is doing now that they are a soul or a spirit. Instead, you can only believe or hope what they might be doing but you can't use the word KNOW, because you don't know. Anyway, as someone who knows someone who's been involved in a similar incident as yours, I don't hear any accountability for your friend's death or apology, and if you're gonna tell your story to the public, you should've included that. You DID cause your friend's death.😔
I know exactly what intersection your talking about, I work for auto insurance and our main state I handle is Texas.. Ive handled about 200 fatalities or a little more in the past 5 years ive worked with this company... Over 1000 accidents alone. Its still very fresh for u and i dont blame u to not want to go into details, its extremely traumatic especially for someone your age. Since the change of the intersection there have been less accidents and fatalities! I would say at least 75% improvement..however the worst time of day to drive in this area is during sunrise or sunset, just because of where the highway and exit is located. All those families ive helped still remain on my prayer list, including u. 💙 I know my situation is a little different but I had a miscarriage due to a car accident and i was the driver, i blamed myself for awhile until one day I just felt a since of peace and not only forgave myself but also realized it wasnt my fault it was just an accident.. I hope u know that too.
At 16 you think your invincible but at some point realize your not I was lucky thankfully I couldn't imagine how it feels killing someone let alone your bestie when you wrecked 16 is young to be driving without a trainer or something my condolences to Sarah's family

I had my t4 shattered in a car accident 3 or 4 years ago. I got stuck on bed rest for a month or 2 and wearing back brace for at least 6 months and would use it sometimes after when I got back pain. Felt like a damn ninja turtle wearing that thing. I remember being fully conscious during my wreck. I'm curious so if you're comfortable saying (when I broke my back the pain was excursiating but I wasn't paralyzed) were you able to feel your back break in the accident? Also so sorry about your friend.😔

I know how it feels like losing someone that you loved. My dog passed away I now it is not the same as losing a friend but it was so hard to know that my passed away and he passed away in my arms 😢💔

@@mas5867 Their Gods are the same! This young girl has a heart for Jesus, meaning she will spend eternity in heaven with her LORD. This life is but a mist compared to being with God forever in eternity. God never promised this young girl a perfect life with no suffering. He does however promise forgiveness through faith in Jesus and eternal life. So despite being paralyzed, this young girl has THE greatest gift one could possibly have. And If you ask her, I bet she would tell you that she is absolutely blessed.
You’re proud of her killing her friend? She could use this as a chance to encourage safe driving, I guarantee she is lying and was texting and driving. Instead she just says, god has a plan that’s why my friend died.

Hey, It’s okay when you don’t want to go down into detail! I was in an accident a year ago and even though I didn’t have it as bad as you it’s so so hard to talk about the details. I told people some details then stopped when it was too much for me. I know your friend is looking down on you keep up the good effort!

Your story is very inspiring to me. When I was 16 my girlfriend died in a car accident on the way to visit me, we were in a long distance relationship and we would meet in Atlanta Georgia (halfway point) and I felt like it was my fault for so long because I begged her to come and see me that weekend even tho it was inconvenient for her because she had a lot going on. I’m sure you feel responsible for what happened and I felt the same for so long and I dealt with it in the most unhealthy way for such a long time. I got addicted to drugs and started self harming to deal with my pain. I’m 24 now and thankfully I can say I’m clean from drugs. I’m so glad you’ve been able to stay positive and not let yourself be miserable like I did for a long time. If you ever need to talk let me know because I understand to a certain degree at least some of the emotions you may feel. Stay positive and keep working hard! You’re helping more people then you realize.
Driving is so dangerous and it takes many years to gain experience. I didn’t realize how much until I’d been driving for at least ten years. The accident wasn’t your fault, but I hope other teenagers hear this and realize they can’t drive distracted: it’s dangerous enough for newer drivers without distractions! You can try to do everything right like Kathryn and weird stuff happens anyway. Blessings to you - you are changing lives by sharing your story and journey and keeping Sarah alive and introducing her to more people.

Tragic, but immediately It is obvious you are not taking responsibility. How come I don't hear not even 1 "I'm sorry?" It also seems you're leaving out some facts. Like perhaps you and your girlfriend were giggling or were looking at your phone or even texting. Or maybe even on the phone while this happened. Also, you're use of the English word, KNOW is incorrect because you don't know what your friend is doing now that they are a soul or a spirit. Instead, you can only believe or hope what they might be doing but you can't use the word KNOW, because you don't know. Anyway, as someone who knows someone who's been involved in a similar incident as yours, I don't hear any accountability for your friend's death or apology, and if you're gonna tell your story to the public, you should've included that. You DID cause your friend's death.😔
I know exactly what intersection your talking about, I work for auto insurance and our main state I handle is Texas.. Ive handled about 200 fatalities or a little more in the past 5 years ive worked with this company... Over 1000 accidents alone.
Its still very fresh for u and i dont blame u to not want to go into details, its extremely traumatic especially for someone your age.
Since the change of the intersection there have been less accidents and fatalities! I would say at least 75% improvement..however the worst time of day to drive in this area is during sunrise or sunset, just because of where the highway and exit is located.
All those families ive helped still remain on my prayer list, including u. 💙
I know my situation is a little different but I had a miscarriage due to a car accident and i was the driver, i blamed myself for awhile until one day I just felt a since of peace and not only forgave myself but also realized it wasnt my fault it was just an accident.. I hope u know that too.
At 16 you think your invincible but at some point realize your not I was lucky thankfully I couldn't imagine how it feels killing someone let alone your bestie when you wrecked 16 is young to be driving without a trainer or something my condolences to Sarah's family
