Cheesypotato57 It is a bit contrived but it's still a great background story. There are other origins that are better, but Onslaught's is one of my favourites.
I just couldn't get into it, honestly :/ Points for originality, but how often are people's character traits manifested as some sort of physical being that merges with other people's character traits to make a villain, even in the comics? Comic books, as fantastical as they are, also require rules that the reader can understand so that they know what can be done in those worlds, and this seems to defy all sorts of logic.
Cheesypotato57 Good point. The Marvel world, 616, wasn't meant to be very logical (in the mid-nineties anyway), but entertaining. I don't think there are many limits to Marvel's rules in the comics, as there are even more origin tales and story lines that are less logical than this one . . . but Onslaught is still a boss villain.
You forgot to mention that the battle between Onslaught and ALL heroes split the Universes apart temporarily creating multi-verse battles of the same foe. It was awesome.
I'm beginning to think that Onslaught is coming to X-Men '97 in the last episode, especially after that scene where Magneto brutally removed Wolverine's Adamantium metal inside of him... 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah! The Marvel universe is super rich! I'd love to see a movie with Mr Sinister and the whole ''let's create the ultimate mutant'' thing with Nate Grey AND Cable! I love Cable's world! It's so dystopian and has a nice 90's cheesy-but-rughed army flick vibe to it! So yeah, after days of future past and Guardians of the Galaxy, Cable and Nate Grey could be the next step. But I wonder, do those two ever meet in the comics?
Not sure. But I think there's rumor that they'll be doing an Age of Apocalypse movie, which would be so freakin cool! With that I feel like they could implement Nate Grey.
"Demons run when good men go to war..." This line perfectly sums up Onslaught to me. This is what happens when you push a good man (Xavier) who only wanted peace across the line. You think Apocalypse was bad? This is the being who wiped the Avengers, the Fantastic 4 and the Hulk out of existence; and if not for Franklin Richards, they would've stayed there.
“Demons run when a good man goes to war Night will fall and drown the sun When a good man goes to war Friendship dies and true love lies Night will fall and the dark will rise When a good man goes to war Demons run, but count the cost The battle's won, but the child is lost” I am sorry, but couldn't help myself >.
What was forgotten and mentioned were 2 things: 1. Because of his combination of Professor X and Magneto, it was revealed that the Onslaught part of Professor X was the traitor of wiping out the X-Men that Bishop warned the team about. 2. The Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-Man and Doctor Doom were the ones who teamed up with the X-Men to put an end to Onslaught's reign of terror.
larrym5150 Oh I wish I still did. Juggernaut lands somewhere in NJ X-men show up. "Damn Juggernaut! You got knocked the fuck out!" Juggernaut: "....Onslaught..."

Onslaught (Phase 1 form) is my favorite Marvel villain, though I suppose his origin is too convoluted to ever make it to other mediums. I was in my mid teens when this storyline took place and I remember being in awe of Onslaught's power. Like how he casually reaches in and plucked the Cyttorak Gem from Juggernaut's chest, rendering him powerless. The Onslaught/X-men one-shot comic where his true identity is revealed and he attacks the X-mansion still freaks me out a bit even today. Very dark/tense tone.
The Fox owned part of the MCU has a hard enough time getting some of the simple characters/canon right. Onslaught is 100% never going to happen, or be a whopping disappointment when he DOES happen.
