@@josephchavez1489 Zombies are a big part of Haitian mythology and it's their place of origin. Though mythology isn't a completely right word since zombies started as real people drugged into serving their bokor ("necromancer"). From that derives the myth of zombies being walking dead who do their master's bidding.

Solomon Grundy is at once one of the most silly DC villains and one of the most interesting. His powers vary tremendously every time he gets resurrected from Slaughter Swamp. Usually, he's dim-witted but huge and powerful. But sometimes, he's much less powerful, slender, but is downright cunning and patient. Which makes him even more dangerous. Sometimes Batman can take him down, but rarely they've shown him fighting toe to toe with Superman. I actually like the fact that the DC heroes don't know what to expect from his next manifestation when he once again returns from the swamp.

The Hulk is another obvious ripoff, so-much-so that the Hulk was originally-- you guessed it, "GRAY" colored and sporting Grundy's "torn clothing and unintelligible dialect." No way to dispute this, you can't change history or Marvel's extensive pattern of underhanded stealing.
Actually if anything, The hulk is a ripoff Grundy. Grundy came before the hulk. Most DC characters came before Marvel characters. All of them did I think

I always liked Solomon Grundy in the Justice League animated series. Hawkgirl always trying to find the humanity in him was one of the reasons I kept watching the series.
Every time Grundy is "killed" his body is regenerated at the swamp. Every time he regenerates, his power and his personality are different from before. Sometimes he's weaker, sometimes he's stronger. Sometimes he's dumb as a rock, other times he's quite intelligent. Also, every time he comes back, he has no memory of his previous life, so he doesn't know who anybody is.
Solomon Grundy is like the Hulk in some ways, one of them being he's a misunderstood person with incredible strength and a big heart, at least to his friends. I once heard that a version of Solomon Grundy actually HELPED the Justice League.

A fight between the two would be titanic, and probably devastating to whatever city it took place in. Hulk couldn't hurt Grundy physically, as you can't harm that which does not feel. It would probably end with an agitated Hulk throwing his opponent across several States. Grundy would eventually land, rise, and shamble off in some random direction.
Batman appeared in 1939, a year before Alan Scott's appearance in 1940 Gotham City was first introduced in Batman #4 (winter 1940) Bill Finger is credited with naming Gotham City Bill Finger also co-created Green Lantern, who first appeared in All American Comics #16, which was published in July of 1940. Therefore it is highly likely that Green Lantern (Alan Scott) was Gotham's protector before Batman, simply because the city wasn't named in Batman comics until after Green Lantern appeared.
I think he would fit more as a John Constantine villain or as a complete Justice League Dark villain because most of all Batman should fight against Serial Killers and Psychotic villains leaving villains like zombies and demons to those who have powers to banish them like Zatanna,John Constantine,Doctor Fate,Deadman, and Etrigan The Demon.

I like how comic companies "borrow" from or get "inspired" by each other's characters. LoL. Grundy should be more popular since he was made 1st & zombies are hot right now. But Hulk has more personality. Hopefully Grundy will be in the JL movie....being a Hulk-like villain powerhouse that requires the team to combine forces & use tactics to defeat him. I like the idea of Grundy being stronger than Superman (like he was in the JL episode "Wake the Dead") but Supes having other abilities (like flight, super speed, heat-vision & ice breath) to help him out.
I agree, grundy's an interresting character, but ur right, hulk has banner so has more personality, perhaps lex would find grundy and get him on his side in the JL movie
Nhat Lam NGUYEN I was actually excluding Banner, but you are right that gives him even more personality now that I come to think of it. Well, Marvel/Disney has more recently given Hulk more of a personality actually. I think this happened most recently after the PLANET/WORLD WAR HULK stories. And the Avengers movies has helped flesh out his character more & made him more popular. He has better catch phases like: "Hulk Smash", "the madder Hulk gets the stronger Hulk ges", "puny (insert name or species", as well as "hulk is strongest there is". Yes, good idea, but I was thinking Grundy should rampage & be stopped by the JL efforts. At the end of the 1st movie, there should be an end scene where Lex is shown waiting at the edge of the swamp as Grundy revives & then Lex should offer him a spot on the LEGION OF DOOM (the team for the next movie).
Nhat Lam NGUYEN IKR. I loved that JL ep entitled "Wake the Dead" where Grundy was supercharged with chaos magic. That's what I want to see happen. Then @ the end he's revived with his normal power levels (hopefully as strong, if not stronger than Supes). Lex should be like Marvel's Nick Fury @ the ends of DC's movies & recruits villains for his Legion of Doom.
I think it would be awesome if it turned out that Solomon Grundy was actually one of the powerhouse villains in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." He probably won't be, but it'd awesome if he was.
Dont expect much from this movie, they adopted the worst comic line (frank miller). Dc are killing themselves with their upcoming movies. Im a hardcore dc fan but their movies sucked since batman begins
q8indy Seems like Doomsday will be appearing with Lex so it won't be a complete copy paste of the horrible Dark Knight Returns by Shitty Miller. If we go by the supposedly leaked script/synopsis.
I like the New 52 retelling of his encounter with Alan. Alan is now ironically the champion of The Green and therefore powered by plant life like Swap-Thing, and Grundy was the chosen champion of The Rot/Grey.
Now see that would be a great fight. Solomon Grundy versus the Hulk. Some people need to grasp league as one person wanted a fight between Hulk and Doomsday which is obviously nonsensical.
2:59 I adore this logic. “Yeah he was thrown off the top of a building BUT… he doesn’t die… because instead of landing at terminal velocity on the concrete he will land at terminal velocity on top of a metal roofed car that is a maximum of 5 feet shorter than the distance to the concrete.”
In the Justice League series, he wasn't shown as a zombie. I just thought he had white skin and was a little slow. Remember, I was a kid. I didn't know his origins then.
Thug Life Super Gamer Agree. I believe Grundy got bulky after Hulk's appearance, where as he was tall with a human build before. Grundy was also capable of intelligent conversation back in the 40's.
Cyrus Gold was a villain on Arrow. He was injected with a Super Soldier formula called Miracle and became super strong. He "died" in yesterday's episode but I'm sure he'll be back as Solomon Grundy.
I really don't get his origin? Murder is common in the Batman universe. But somehow by being murdered this one guy randomly turns into one of the strongest villains in the DC universe who doesn't even seem inconvenienced by his murder. Some times he seems like he is just trying to make a living. A lot of his crimes do involve the acquisition of money after all. I feel like I'm missing something.
I was just kidding. I'm joking about the similarities between the two characters - both have the same body types and also speak similarly (e.g. "Hulk smaaash!!" and "Now Grundy cruuuush!"). But if it was a contest between the two, no one can deny that HULK IS STRONGEST ONE THERE IS!!!!
there was a green lantern in ancient china abusing his power and the guardians made his ring vulnerable to wood and when he was fatally wounded he didn't use his ring to heal himself to spite them.
watch mojo you forgot to mention that Solomon Grundy is immune to magic, yes you said immune to green lanterns ring, but that's only because of the way he was created, but Grundy also has basically a mutant power immunity to magic! that is why hawk girl could defeat Grundy with her magic deleting mace!
Actually it is: Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday, Christened on a stark and stormy Tuesday, Married on a gray and grisly Wednesday, Took ill on a mild and mellow Thursday, Grew worse on a bright and breezy Friday, Died on a gray and glorious Saturday, Buried on a baking, blistering Sunday. That was the end of Solomon Grundy.
You are absolutely right, but he's always been inconsistent being whatever the writers wanted him to be. And for decades since the Hulk his powers and abilities have settled into a hulkish style.
x2RAW Evicted You're too biased in your statement. Just because you like the hulk better, doesn't mean he could take on Grundy, The hulk can be killed. So can Grundy. But Grundy reanimates. The Hulk doesn't
You guys should watch The Batman TV series that used to play on Saturdays when I was a kid. Solomon and most of the other Batman villains made appearances. Best Batman TV show ever. :D It ran from 2004-2007.

Yes, good idea, but I was thinking Grundy should rampage & be stopped by the JL efforts. At the end of the 1st movie, there should be an end scene where Lex is shown waiting at the edge of the swamp as Grundy revives & then Lex should offer him a spot on
the LEGION OF DOOM (the team for the next movie).
Blackton Obvious! awesome, that's a good entrance for the guy
Blackton Obvious! wow, there, that would be too over powered for supes since magic is his weakness but would be badass tho
do more of this! loved it
I think it would be awesome if it turned out that Solomon Grundy was actually one of the powerhouse villains in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." He probably won't be, but it'd awesome if he was.
Dont expect much from this movie, they adopted the worst comic line (frank miller). Dc are killing themselves with their upcoming movies. Im a hardcore dc fan but their movies sucked since batman begins
Drydon nolan trilogy was silly like hell
q8indy Seems like Doomsday will be appearing with Lex so it won't be a complete copy paste of the horrible Dark Knight Returns by Shitty Miller. If we go by the supposedly leaked script/synopsis.
I certainly enjoyed the film.
I like the New 52 retelling of his encounter with Alan. Alan is now ironically the champion of The Green and therefore powered by plant life like Swap-Thing, and Grundy was the chosen champion of The Rot/Grey.
The power ring is just like sonic screwdriver. Wood causes problems for both.
One of my top 10 favorite villains in the DC Universe.
Hope to see Grundy in upcoming DCEU movies.
He would be the dceu version of the hulk
Grundy from the Justice League series acts like a lame Hulk. "Grundy CRUSH!!!" "Hulk SMASH!!!"
I was introduced to Grundy via the Justice League series. Honestly, as a kid, I thought he was cute. XD
hes not cute he's a zombie that kills things or tries to atleast
In the Justice League series, he wasn't shown as a zombie. I just thought he had white skin and was a little slow. Remember, I was a kid. I didn't know his origins then.
MamaMidnight98
true true
u guys should do John Constantine, oh wait let me log on and submit a request lol love u guys, u keep me company at work
How about professor pyg as a supervillain
So am I to believe that I can defeat Green Lantern by hitting him with a 2 x 4?
that sounds about right lol
Grundy is an pretty awesome villain but I don't think he's a ripoff version of Hulk.
Thug Life Super Gamer Yes, even though he was created first, that makes sense.
A Guy Named Slimpback True.
Thug Life Super Gamer
Agree. I believe Grundy got bulky after Hulk's appearance, where as he was tall with a human build before. Grundy was also capable of intelligent conversation back in the 40's.
TN BN True.
Hulk is a ripoff
Cyrus Gold was a villain on Arrow. He was injected with a Super Soldier formula called Miracle and became super strong. He "died" in yesterday's episode but I'm sure he'll be back as Solomon Grundy.
Solomon grundy vs the thing! make it happen deathbattle!
one of the my favorite characters.and one of my favorites in Injustice.
Solomon Grundy is going to be in season 3 of Gotham
Branden Rangel I'm looking forward to seeing him.
I doubt that. Stan Lee has stated that he took inspiration from Dr. Jerkyll and Mr. Hyde and Frankenstein while creating the Hulk.
Who's here because if tonight's Gotham episode!?
Nothing like that old school watch mojo
Never saw that episode were Adam West/Batman confronted the dead man. Nice. I've been waiting a long time for this Grundy.....................Epic.
It wasn't actually from the 60's Batman TV series. It was from the Legion of Superheros special that aired in '79.
I feel like I'm missing something.
i like him on the injustice gods among us video game!
Wait.. grundy was in the the 1960's batman tv series??
Superfriends special legend of superheroes adam west reprised his role..
you forgot one thing: whenever he dies, he reanimates with new powers replacing his old ones.
hell of a scare to fight him in Arkham City
that's were they say the rhyme
yep it was a scare
Grundy was totally HULKIFIED.
Same thing happened to MR. HYDE in his various incarnations.
WAIT!! The Green Lantern`s weakness was wood?...WTF?!
there was a green lantern in ancient china abusing his power and the guardians made his ring vulnerable to wood and when he was fatally wounded he didn't use his ring to heal himself to spite them.
jrwith ok,thank you for telling me.I had no idea.
watch mojo you forgot to mention that Solomon Grundy is immune to magic, yes you said immune to green lanterns ring, but that's only because of the way he was created, but Grundy also has basically a mutant power immunity to magic! that is why hawk girl could defeat Grundy with her magic deleting mace!
Solomon Grundy vs Undertaker stairway to hell match at wrestlemania 31 lol
First blood casket match followed by a buried alive match
Youngwolf
Actually it is:
Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday,
Christened on a stark and stormy Tuesday,
Married on a gray and grisly Wednesday,
Took ill on a mild and mellow Thursday,
Grew worse on a bright and breezy Friday,
Died on a gray and glorious Saturday,
Buried on a baking, blistering Sunday.
That was the end of Solomon Grundy.
the first green = the great cornholio
Didn't the original Green Lantern's sidekick have a name?
Solomon Grundy, DC's Hulk-wanna-be.
hulks a rip off of him so yeah
+lil mouse gangster n igga Lmao yah sure
trillination he came 20 years before him lol
You are absolutely right, but he's always been inconsistent being whatever the writers wanted him to be. And for decades since the Hulk his powers and abilities have settled into a hulkish style.
that´s like saying hulk is a rip off of superman which is because their strenght is unlimited.
I Got Lego Batman 3 For Christmas And When I Beat The Game I Didn't Know a Who Soloman Grundy Was Besides A Villan And This Video Was Really Helpful
bane vs solomon grumdy i think bane win .-.
bane
Gavin Stephenson Bane is mortal, Grundy is the living dead, it would be a long fight, but I think Grundy would eventually win.
The Viceroy bane has his intelligence you know maybe he will outsmart him somehow
SkeletorsRightHand Possibly
CosmicUndeadElf
Yea but evan batman beat grundy
I'm a sucker for zombies... Films, video games, books... You name it. As long as it's got bloodthirsty reanimated corpses, it gets my approval.
hulk vs solomon grumdy winner solomon grumdy
Kidding me? Hulk wins easily
x2RAW Evicted You're too biased in your statement. Just because you like the hulk better, doesn't mean he could take on Grundy, The hulk can be killed. So can Grundy. But Grundy reanimates. The Hulk doesn't
trust me, im a hardcore dc fan, but hulk can beat him, and grundy is a ripoff hulk
x2RAW Evicted you can't really beat something that keeps reanimating.
x2RAW Evicted although yes,the hulk is way stronger
You guys should watch The Batman TV series that used to play on Saturdays when I was a kid. Solomon and most of the other Batman villains made appearances. Best Batman TV show ever. :D It ran from 2004-2007.
