Solomon Grundy is at once one of the most silly DC villains and one of the most interesting.
His powers vary tremendously every time he gets resurrected from Slaughter Swamp.
Usually, he's dim-witted but huge and powerful. But sometimes, he's much less powerful, slender, but is downright cunning and patient. Which makes him even more dangerous.
Sometimes Batman can take him down, but rarely they've shown him fighting toe to toe with Superman. I actually like the fact that the DC heroes don't know what to expect from his next manifestation when he once again returns from the swamp.
Guys stop saying Solomon is a ripoff of the Hulk try to read dates he came from the 1940s and hulk came in the 1960s
The Hulk is another obvious ripoff, so-much-so that the Hulk was originally-- you guessed it, "GRAY" colored and sporting Grundy's "torn clothing and unintelligible dialect." No way to dispute this, you can't change history or Marvel's extensive pattern of underhanded stealing.

Every time Grundy is "killed" his body is regenerated at the swamp. Every time he regenerates, his power and his personality are different from before. Sometimes he's weaker, sometimes he's stronger. Sometimes he's dumb as a rock, other times he's quite intelligent. Also, every time he comes back, he has no memory of his previous life, so he doesn't know who anybody is.
I always liked Solomon Grundy in the Justice League animated series. Hawkgirl always trying to find the humanity in him was one of the reasons I kept watching the series.
Solomon Grundy is like the Hulk in some ways, one of them being he's a misunderstood person with incredible strength and a big heart, at least to his friends. I once heard that a version of Solomon Grundy actually HELPED the Justice League.
That's because Marvel made the Hulk from DC's Solomon Grundy. Even the original Hulk was grey and not green.
Samuel Ketner But when Grundy first appeared he was just a zombie in later additions he began looking and acting like the Hulk so at a certain point Grundy took elements from the Hulk.
Hulk was grey because of a printing error thats why it was the first issue, it was later added into his story but he wasn't grey because of grundy.

They heavily implied later, with the third GL that his weakness of wood was because he was attacked by a wood plank and thought the power did not affect wood and by that thinking, the ring made exist.
Originally he couldn't affect wood but they changed it because they wanted GL to not have the yellow handicap anymore.
He probably thought having wood wasn't good for the ring's powers and told everyone it was actual wood 😂

you and me both. when i played arkham asylum, killer croc scared the shit outta me, soon as he came outta the elevator in the beginning, all i said was "really, thats big....i gotta fight that later on?!" don't get me wrong, croc is a favorite of mine next to joker, but still, scared the hell outta me in the sewers. then i played arkham city and was like "grunde?!! killer croc was big and scary enough.now i gotta fight a zombie thats twice as big as croc and bane combined?!!" lol
There are many retelling's of Grundy's origin but, my favorite is the story of how he used to be a mob boss but, was betrayed by his own men. At least I think that's how it went down. Well what matters right now is I think it's a better version and that's my opinion.

A fight between the two would be titanic, and probably devastating to whatever city it took place in. Hulk couldn't hurt Grundy physically, as you can't harm that which does not feel. It would probably end with an agitated Hulk throwing his opponent across several States. Grundy would eventually land, rise, and shamble off in some random direction.

Laughable ypu can see in this video grundy origin looks nothing like hulk, justice league grundy is a rip off of hulk, if you look up Wikipedia you will see where Stan Lee got the idea for hulk from, jekyll and Hyde and frankenstiens monster, still a rip off but not from dc. Frankenstien was a grey monster. Dc changed grundys appearance so it will be Frankenstien who will be taking them to court. Did you know superman wasn't the first man of steel.

Bill Finger also co-created Green Lantern, who first appeared in All American Comics #16, which was published in July of 1940.
Therefore it is highly likely that Green Lantern (Alan Scott) was Gotham's protector before Batman, simply because the city wasn't named in Batman comics until after Green Lantern appeared.

yes that was solomon grundy, i really hope he'll return in the 2nd or third season. during the last fight where green arrow defeated him, the serum spilled on his face, giving him a more accurate look towards the comic books. So I hope thats a sign he's coming back

Well, Marvel/Disney has more recently given Hulk more of a personality actually. I think this happened most recently after the PLANET/WORLD WAR HULK stories. And the Avengers movies has helped flesh out his character more & made him more popular.
He has better catch phases like: "Hulk Smash", "the madder Hulk gets the stronger Hulk ges", "puny (insert name or species", as well as "hulk is strongest there is".
Yes, good idea, but I was thinking Grundy should rampage & be stopped by the JL efforts. At the end of the 1st movie, there should be an end scene where Lex is shown waiting at the edge of the swamp as Grundy revives & then Lex should offer him a spot on

I loved that JL ep entitled "Wake the Dead" where Grundy was supercharged with chaos magic. That's what I want to see happen. Then @ the end he's revived with his normal power levels (hopefully as strong, if not stronger than Supes). Lex should be like Marvel's Nick Fury @ the ends of DC's movies & recruits villains for his Legion of Doom.

I like the New 52 retelling of his encounter with Alan. Alan is now ironically the champion of The Green and therefore powered by plant life like Swap-Thing, and Grundy was the chosen champion of The Rot/Grey.
I think it would be awesome if it turned out that Solomon Grundy was actually one of the powerhouse villains in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." He probably won't be, but it'd awesome if he was.

It wasn't actually from the 60's Batman TV series. It was from the Legion of Superheros special that aired in '79.
I was just kidding. I'm joking about the similarities between the two characters - both have the same body types and also speak similarly (e.g. "Hulk smaaash!!" and "Now Grundy cruuuush!").

I really don't get his origin? Murder is common in the Batman universe. But somehow by being murdered this one guy randomly turns into one of the strongest villains in the DC universe who doesn't even seem inconvenienced by his murder. Some times he seems like he is just trying to make a living. A lot of his crimes do involve the acquisition of money after all. I feel like I'm missing something.

Cyrus Gold was a villain on Arrow. He was injected with a Super Soldier formula called Miracle and became super strong. He "died" in yesterday's episode but I'm sure he'll be back as Solomon Grundy.

Maybe it was just in the Arkam-verse but I heard he was reanimated because the swamp water contained traces of the Lazarus Pit which another Batman villain, Ra's Al Ghul uses to keep himself young but with Solomon Grundy it fused with him making him practically immortal. The strength thing is unexplained but could be chalked up to a mutation when he was reanimated.
