    The biggest thing is talent targeting. These young mechanical prodigies like Zeus are on the radar by the time they’re 14. They’re reaching out and coaching up these players from a young point. Half the talent NA has gotten has been older players from other regions. Two of NAs best players are Danny and JoJo, two young players thatre developing and performing at a solid level. We need to capitalize on younger talent rather than signing washed up korean star player number 683 and signing veteran aphromoo then expecting that team to perform well internationally

      Not sure if I agree entirely when it comes to players like Aphromoo. Players like him are so well-known and beloved that they bring a lot of viewers and therefore money into the scene. Not to mention experience which can be invaluable to a lot of these newer players.

    • @dranzerkai6051
      @dranzerkai6051 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nguyenn7729 the reason there is not enough talent to find is because they never get a chance so they give up. Shitty bottom tier teams like Immortals would rather recycle old trash like WildTurtle than give some young ADC a chance
      CLGs approach this year was refreshing and more teams need that. However it was a little too late since so many like FireFy for example who dominated amateur scene for so long never got a chance and gave up

Unless you are an absolute world class player like Faker or Deft or Meiko or Xiaohu, it doesnt matter how experienced you are if you are not good enough to compete internationally or adapt with changing times and metas.
      Experience of someone like Vulcan or Jensen is still valuable because they can play at a high level even now but just recycling any old player because of their past fame is what ruins the opportunities for young talent and kills the scene rather than improve it

    Since it's probably impossible to change the existing culture in the pro scene at this point, all lcs can do is just spend more money to bring top tier players and coaches from other 1st & 2nd tier regions and hope teams created from those players win in an international tournament before they also become lcsfied. Otherwise, lcs is probably going to continue its decline.

    I don't think a good performance at worlds will necessarily change the US' perception of playing league. In my opinion, and from what I've seen personally, people look down on League of Legends because of the toxicity of its community. Its perceived as some kind of masochistic venture to play, which honestly isn't completely wrong. I think the main way to improve leagues perception is to improve its community, but Riot doesn't seem to value getting that involved in implementing good behavior / bad behavior system changes that actually make a difference.

      Its NA, people acting like hipster and try their hardest to look down “main stream”. When it is trending up, people wont say crap, as soon as it became mainstream people will look down at it. • @kelex1298
      @kelex1298 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's because they can't. Riot cannot change attitude that is stemmed from society's core cultural values. NA's culture is not one that promotes pushing past your limit to achieve greatness, it is culture that seeks healthier work/life balance and settling down for mediocrity. It is inherently not bad, but when your job is quite literally to attempt to become the best at what you do, it's going to put you behind the people that are born and raised in culture that whips them to become the best they can be. This has been proven many, many times in other esports like Overwatch, CS:GO, Dota2, Starcraft.

      IMO LCS winning worlds matter on changing people's perspective on US league more than most people think. League was booming and everyone loved it back then because the players think their region mattered. It mainly became a shitshow when everyone thinks everyone is bad. If NA teams consistently perform internationally, people would feel less shitty about playing league because playing bad in a good region doesn't feel as shitty. You will think that you are doing okay because the players are that good, rather than feeling so bad losing to players who are shit in the game.

    I believe its whether the country is overpopulated. If a country is overpopulated then people are more likely to search for different avenues of revenue because jobs are much more competitive to get. Here in NA you can go to any solid University and get a job in any STEM field you want without having to furiously compete for a job.
    People in NA don't take league seriously because they are working towards their degrees or have their dream jobs. NA will get much better when jobs start running out and the new generations need to specialize in something else.

    • @stone_pilot
      @stone_pilot ปีที่แล้ว

      how do you know they get outworked? I think the answer is much more obvious. It's a numbers game. Read Malcom Gladwell's book outliers and you find that this statistically is true.
      The top 1% of players out of 1000 people will never compare to the top 1% of players out of 10,000.
      There are more south korean and chinese players of LoL than any other regions. EU is next which is why, surprise, they always have better showings than NA.
      The most apparent case where this is true is the U.S. soccer teams in the olympics. Despite having participated for decades, the U.S. rarely has good showings. I doubt these olympic athletes 'aren't working hard'. We don't care about soccer here so our top 1% talent can't compare.

      @@stone_pilot It's common knowledge that Asians typically work much harder. 10-12 hour work days 6 days a week are pretty normal, sometimes extending up to 16 hours. It's not healthy, but I reckon it's needed when they're trying to become the best in the world at what they do.

      @@stone_pilot You are comparing the top 1% out of 1000 in NA VS top 1% of 10,000 in Asia which are different sample pools with differing variables of which culture is a huge part of it. • @ryancooper3629
    @ryancooper3629 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think as they alude to it is fundamentally cultural, not so much the specific league stigma but just the overall idea of scouting and developing young players in the west is just not culturally accepted. Yeah it happens but most parents still would reject that and won't allow their kids to put in the time at the game to develop.
    In the west the average person does not take gaming seriously as a competitive pursuit. Until that changes the west really will never stand a chance.
    On top of that, numbers also give the east a huge advantage. If you have a pool of players to pick from that is literally 10x bigger then you can be 10x more picky about the quality of player that you bring onto a given team. This applies to ALL competitive sports. There is a reason the small population of Canada tends to dominate hockey. Its because culturally hockey is so popular there that they have the most players playing at a competitive level.

      Mainly because leagues greatest flaw is simply that you put the success of your game in the hands of 4 random strangers, all with different goals from your own.
      Put that flaw into ranked queue and its a recipe for disaster for your personal enjoyment. You can play out of your mind yeah, but even if you win the 50 minute game where bot went 2/14 in the first 10 minutes and you carried the game, next game your team ffs at 20 cuz top gets destroyed and your jg decided to aggressively invade while behind and goes 1/8 by 10.

    It's cultural thing, not just a win lose thing.
    If the region embraces it, naturally, people will fall into a sense of false reality, which makes it become reality.
    For example, in Korea, League games are broadcasted over TV. This is embracement. You may not like League, but the fact that it's broadcasted on TV, there's a false perception that it's popular even if it's not (I mean, it is in Korea, but that's not the point) and people will move towards liking it just to be "cool." When enough people do that, it becomes cool, because now everyone likes it.
    NA and EU simply don't embrace this culture. The fact that NA only declared League to be a sport was just so they can tax the winnings and has not done a thing to promote it is already proof that the culture isn't even close to being supportive.
    At the end of the day, the more people you have playing the game, the bigger the talent pool, the more likely it is you will find good talent. It's just maths. If you have ten people playing the game, then your two best teams are these ten players, they're going to be awful compared to the ten best players selected out of a million players.
