I have been following your channel for some time now because I was interested in trying it for myself, but, I just found this video 2 years after you uploaded it. I quickly learned that the reason I was having a difficult time wrapping something, was because I had bought some of this fake VVIVID vinyl. I ordered up some real VVIVID from VVIVID and WOW........what an amazing difference. This should be a must see video for anyone even thinking about attempting to wrap something.
I wrapped my car using eBay vinyl a year ago....Looked good for a few months, now its peeling and cracking. It was a test on a cheap car to see if I could wrap. I learned that yes I can wrap, and I also learned that I will never use eBay vinyl again. I was told afterward that the vinyl I used was cast vinyl and is not meant for cars, so that might be one reason why it looks so bad today. The color still looks the same and its been in the sun every day for a year.
The reason any of you are getting cheap knock-off rolls of this film is because Vivvid is made in China and rebranded for the U.S. As far as laying it down on the first go it's got some benefits that other films don't, but in the longevity dept. is where you'll regret using it. I'm sure with time vivvid will catch up to the leading brands though.
Nothing wrong with the vinyl from ebay, that just not for wrapping... but perfect for sign making or a decor stripe where you don't have to stretch it. The problem is if he bought the vinyl as a 3d wrapping foil
Just buy direct from VVIVID during their Black Friday sale 40% off as I did for 500 square foot rolls brushed aluminum, charcoal gray and brushed gunmetal. I am about to apply and stretch the gunmetal to some 20" spoked wheels tomorrow and fully expect it to perform flawlessly. I made the mistake 8 years ago of buying 3D carbon fiber vinyl pn Ebay with black backing, clear adhesive and air release however it doesn't hardly stretch near as easily and it gets BRITTLE after years in the environment and cracks like hell. It also doesn't at all look like the realistic carbon fiber vinyls offered nowadays and required 1 or 2 coats of clearcoat to have the sheen of the real material. Keep up the great work Christian.
Hey Chris, would love to see a material cost breakout for self installation and how to properly estimate the amount of film that one will need for given car, I have no clue how much i need and how much $ it is going to run me on my Tesla Model 3 when it arrives.
Basically, the cost of the product and labor combined cost almost as much as getting the whole car itself repainted. I'm sure a shop would charge about $3000 for the project, the the vinyl may run them about half that. A lot of skill and time are involved in applying vinyl and your original paint is protected. If you have the money and a nice car, it may be a good investment to get your car wrapped and do it with style. Also look into knifeless tape for cutting vinyl on your car.
I'm thinking of Wrapping my 2002 ford explorer with vivivid, i have been looking for a video on wrapping the roof of it, because it has a lot of ridges for added support for the roof rack. I am wondering about how to do all the ridges. I know i have to take off the roof rack. i am either going to do it in a matte blue or gun metal grey or a possible 2 tone of both. maybe top half in the gun metal grey and the bottom in the blue or a rally stripe in the gun metal.. i have seen several videos on wrapping the roof but none of them have the ridges for the roof rack.
I am wrapping my 1966 VW splitty bus lower half with VVIVID brushed gunmetal while the top half is painted gray charcoal next spring. I am so very excited!!!
Good info. They should ban these a-holes selling crap on eBay & Amazon, etc. So irritating! Not just vinyl either! Fake and knock off items are getting really good imitations but performance is less than worthless! The first time I tried wrapping I used ebay junk and didn’t try it again until years later bcuz it was a miserable experience. This channel is required learning material for wrapping! Thank you for your content!
I’m new to vinyl wrapping but thought I did my home work before I purchased the vinyl. I bought Vvivid blue carbon fiber wrap from Amazon and it would not stretch or adhere to my clean car interior surface. I then bought DIYAH yellow carbon fiber from Amazon and had the same problems with it. Now I see this video and I’m thinking it wasn’t me it was Amazon. I just bought some blue ghost vinyl straight from Vvivid and can”t wait to try it out. I will update this post once I try it.
Like I said before I’m new to vinyl wrapping but thought I did my home work before I purchased the vinyl. I bought Vvivid blue carbon fiber wrap from Amazon and it would not stretch or adhere to my clean car interior surface. I then bought DIYAH yellow carbon fiber from Amazon and had the same problems with it. I saw a CKwraps video about knockoff vinyl and as it turned out it wasn’t knockoff vinyl. It is just carbon fiber vinyl is a lot harder to stretch than solid colors. I bought some blue ghost vinyl straight from Vvivid and it stretched further and adhered to the surface better than the carbon fiber vinyl. Thanks for your videos and help.
Great video... I learned my lesson after buying a pearl white wrap off ebay for 300$ only to trash it. Couldn't even wrap a single panel with it and decided to save someone else the headache and trash it
I've literally been ripping my hair out because the rose gold stuff I got wouldnt stretch at all and I noticed yours was always clear adhesive and mine was white adhesive. So now I know I just waisted $500... fml thanks
I had a bad experience with the cheap ebay version and I bought the real one and bam wrapped my table with ease. With the cheap version I got rips and with the new one none at all.
All the Ck wraps videos I been watching and I never thought to look at this on nor did it ever pop up until I get the knockoff wrap. well thankfully I only bought a 1ft by 5 ft piece to wrap some xbox controllers. guess I will use it for very flat things that don't need heating or stretching.
Nice man definitely see the difference but how is it on durability? What if I order more then needed so I don't got to stretch it so much?? I would buy quality but it would be my first time and I don't want to spend good money on trial and error
I've only used Ebay carbon films and such, and now looking for a high quality gloss black for a "chrome delete" on my '14 A3. Is there a big difference in ease of install with a high end product vs a cheap china film?
I've used both Avery and 3M gloss black. Both are great and forgiving. They adhere and stretch more easily with little issue. The cheap Ebay stuff is ok, but the adhesive does have issues with the clearcoat and doesn't adhere as well. Also had issues conforming around bends and curves with cheaper vinyl. Also the primer pen is absolutely needed on the cheap vinyl edging.
Used some cheap ebay wrap and it will not form/stretch to form over curves. Its very thick and stiff if u do get it to strech with alota heat the colour dulls. The cheap chrome stuff are the worst
I hate when I give a customer a quote and they bring in some cheap ebay bullshit to try and cut cost. Quit being cheap and let us use quality products. It costs more and takes more time in the long run.
You can buy the one with white adhesive from Vvivid's official store on amazon. I don't think it's fake, just old maybe. I've used the one with the white adhesive, and it's actually pretty good. I honestly can't afford to use the updated chrome gold (50ft x 5ft= $864). The "outdated chrome is only $300 for 50ft. Wish their new vinyl wasn't so expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. How much do you normally pay for 50ft of vinyl?
I remember when i used to work with vvivid which i do not recommend at all til this day. The xpo chrome that has white adhesive is just the regular chrome for flat surfaces such as refrigerators and tables etc. the chrome with clear adhesive is called "supercast chrome" which is meant for vehicle wraps... they are basically trying to run away from their crappy material in the past. Either way vvivid is terrible , i have used the supercast and within a week it faded to be more yellow. And yes i purschased directly from vvivid. 3M , Avery , KPMF , Orafal are best. Not worth the money. Check us @customcarkings fb and IG we do it all right.
XPO film is definitely Vvivid's automotive wrap film. Their interior craft film is called "DECO". What CK is showing us is clearly a counterfeit product or ancient stock that someone is dumping. I am using the same exact Vvivid metallic gold XPO film and it has grayish/silver adhesive. I have had this on my wheels for more than a week without fading.
I'm looking to purchase for my Ford edge. Can you point me in the right direction with shipping to Toronto? Also, do you know if 5ft x 75ft is enough to wrap my car?
Can you recommend a burl woodgrain product I can get to do a tricky project; my Pontiac Solstice dashboard. I have many years experience with vinyl but this will be a great challenge. I am in Vancouver, Canada.
SO do you ever have people wanting trucks wrapped? if so, please show videos, i want to wrap my 2002 dodge dakota. Your doing a great job thanks for the vids.
I Bought a roll on ebay of black carbon fibre and it just won't go around curves, I just ordered some direct from Avery Denison, i hope this works! also a question for you, is carbon fibre vinyl harder to use than a normal colour?
Im wrapping a Cherokee and im having that same problem. I thought cheap vinyl from ebay would be fine. Im having a hard time trying to wrap a military green color with ebay "premium film". Do you sell military green color film?
Breaking rc its because the one on Amazon is the older version of their chrome. You won't be able to use that for a full car wrap. It's literally only useful for flat surfaces. It does not bend. You have to make sure that it's XPO Supercast Chrome
CK Wraps oh ok thanks, I'm thinking about wrapping my entire car, it's a 2006 Toyota Avalon, should I use vivid or Avery? Becuase from using that chrome I wasn't to happy with it after applying heat, but I have used a vivid gloss white which I think is the new one, seemed pretty god!

I need help getting vinyl I like Chinese satin matt chrome brown...color but I know that vinyl is not good material I dont know wat is a good brand that make that color or close to it...
Thanks for this on the morning you posted the video I was just setup to do my car in chrome purchased on eBay which has now been returned😝. In your option which is the best silver chrome to buy on a budget? Great videos keep them coming ✔
Iv just ordered eBay wrap. It’s ultra gloss 4D black carbon fibre 1000x1500 to try do my rx8 roof cost £17. See how it goes and let you know. I do see other wraps that have backing tape and when in place you pull the clear off is that better stuff
So both products are Vivid, one is outdated or old product and the other is the new product. Both are Vivid?? Or is one a fake product?? Link to Vivid New Product??
brandon hood put out a review of avery vs vvivid left outdoors in the sun. it shows the vvivid to be shrinking. any input on this? i'd really appreciate it chris.
Yes Vvivid does shrink about 1/64th of an inch which appears to be terrible but actually isn't that bad. Other brands like Avery also shrink, it just takes a little longer for it to happen. Perhaps I'll do a video on how each wrap looks over time. With any film you should always be leaving extra around edges or doing your seams with some overlap to compensate for any shrinking
Well that kinda sucks. I just ordered 3x5ft roll off Amazon. They have a whole Vivvid store on Amazon so if I get old crap from Vvivid (seems official) store on Amazon. That's kinda messed up. Hopefully not but if it its im getting full refund.
The problem is with the same with all products, if you don't lower your prices then you'll get copies from China, where it's probably made anyway 🙄, that are available for cheaper
+Erick Castro the white adhesive doesn't mean it's fake. But when it comes to chrome it's either fake or out dated. White backing is used on a few of the premium + colours.
Thanks. I bought some black chrome to experiment with and it had the white backing. Just like in your video, it was like trying to stretch leather and the film got discolored extremely easily. I bought it from an eBay store (Tidal Graphics) that sells Vvivid. So on regular, non-chrome films, do the genuine Vvivid films have a light grey adhesive? From that same site I bought the black chrome, i bought a 50ft roll of Vvivid matte blue metallic and 10ft roll of gloss black to wrap my whole car. Both had light grey adhesive, had the Vvivid logo on the paper, and the roll was taped together with tape that had the Vvivid logo on it to. Hoping that was legit Vvivid film; seemed like it because those films were pretty easy to work with; not quite as nice as Avery or 3m, but way better than that black chrome with white adhesive or generic cheap Chinese stuff.
damn. I got duped again. The first small roll was crap from China. Then I bought another small roll advertised as Vvivid. It was in a Vvivid tube with Vvivid tape on the roll itself and Vvivid backing paper. It still had white glue and it doesn't stretch either. Next time I order it for bigger stuff that has to be heated, I'm going straight to Vvivid. It costs twice as much, but probably best in the long run. What I need is gold chrome. What is their name for it? All I see is one called yellow conform chrome
I found Supercast on eBay. I ordered a sample from them and a sample from Vvivid. they are the exact same. If you don't get Supercast, then you get the junk. And it's cheaper
I have been following your channel for some time now because I was interested in trying it for myself, but, I just found this video 2 years after you uploaded it. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of vinyl do you use for decals?
Ebay vinyl will fuck up your clear coat, I have first hand experience with it. Its not worth it.
Thanks, glad I went straight to vvivid rather than ebay
I'm glad I didn't buy more than I did. You're right about it hardly stretching at all. It feels like real metal almost
Nothing wrong with the vinyl from ebay, that just not for wrapping... but perfect for sign making or a decor stripe where you don't have to stretch it. The problem is if he bought the vinyl as a 3d wrapping foil
Wow did not know there was such a quality difference, this will help thanks ck wraps.....
Great video! Thanks for the extremely valuable info! Amazing content on your page!
Can you wrap a car where half of the car's paint is damaged from the sun? Any sanding necessary?

😂😂😂 Why on earth would he do that exactly? That's like selling his profits for free just because someone asked 🙄 he isn't daft!

Thanks Jason. Great lesson seems they counterfeit everything nowadays
Thanks for the heads up bro!!
thanks for your time, love the channel!!!

Man I had the EXACT problem with the exact vinyl from eBay. You can’t even stretch that vinyl
CARDBOARD like he said. LOL.
I hate when I give a customer a quote and they bring in some cheap ebay bullshit to try and cut cost. Quit being cheap and let us use quality products. It costs more and takes more time in the long run.

I was just going to buy a large side graphic for my Mini made of Karlor film from China, just saved me some money, thanks!
Did you hear about a brand call Casking using some material called KK? They sell sticker stripes on AliExpress...
I’m looking to wrap the roof of my Mustang. (Gloss black) I have never use wrap before. What product should I buy.
Thanks for the video
..I ordered that mess and realized I couldn't do anything with it...ebay got me i wish I could get the real deal for my money
I remember when i used to work with vvivid which i do not recommend at all til this day. What's the best recommendation need to fix my trucks chrome parts but don't want to waste a lot it's probably only the grill Cadillac escalade
Well damn. I just bought some to do a table and it has a white backing from “vvivid"
would you recommend hexis over vvivid? what was your experience using the product?
Can you recommend a burl woodgrain product I can get to do a tricky project; my Pontiac Solstice dashboard. I have many years experience with vinyl but this will be a great challenge. I am in Vancouver, Canada.
SO do you ever have people wanting trucks wrapped? if so, please show videos, i want to wrap my 2002 dodge dakota. Your doing a great job thanks for the vids.
thank you for doing this video!!
So no one is talking about that sexy Camaro in the back? Going to be buying Vvivid , thanks!
Damn I sure am glad you are exposing the imposters, great info bro
Wow.. thanks 4 the heads up!!!
On Amazon the vivid chrome vinyl is $338 in 55ft. X 5ft, on civics website it's $957 for same price, why is this so? Boy appear to be sold by vivid
Awesome vid!
Are you getting paid from Vvivid or is it just your honest gain free opinion?
this is no joke. i ordered 1'x5' pink chrome "vvivid" to make a banner for a friends windshield. fucking TERRIBLE. Order from Vvivid.
I might’ve bought a fake vivid product 🤦🏽♂️ thanks for this video I will be buying some from the website
I was excited about the color and price on eBay. Thank you so much for saving me the frustration of buying crap! :) Is it safe to buy Vvivid on Amazon?
not safe
Why not
Thank u so much for posting this vid. I was about to buy some from eBay. It says Brand New - KAKASinlee Brand. Im not sure if this is good or not but now I’m Skeptical and I would be pissed if my wrap rips like that.
So is this why Vvivid gets a bad wrap? lolol
Youngman lee they are shitty trust me.
Hallucinogenichusky this company has similar vinyl and air release just like chinese wrap. The so called "fake chrome" is called xpo regular film. The clear film is called supercast both made by vvivid.
Paul Nguyen uu
your response honestly feels like when parents tell their kids "because I said so!". It doesn't help anyone with anything... if they're really so shitty, why not elaborate and share your experience?
Maybe it's a case of
Mumble wrap....
I know
I had to say it........

Iv just ordered eBay wrap. It’s ultra gloss 4D black carbon fibre 1000x1500 to try do my rx8 roof cost £17. See how it goes and let you know. I do see other wraps that have backing tape and when in place you pull the clear off is that better stuff
Nothing on eBay is good for vinyl wrap. This is why it's so cheap
I’ll let you know how it goes
Are there any good 4D/5D cf wraps or are they all junk?
I buy regular matte vinyl from eBay from EZAutoWrap. (For personal use) and I gotta say, it's pretty decent and very workable and looks great.
hello i have just bye a satin chrome blue in just 150$ is it cool or not. thanks
order direct from Vvivid we did and had no issues

How much u charge to wrap a 50cc honda elite?
thank you for this video. so helpfull. can you someone give links where to order in europe?
How about carbon fiber film , mine the back it’s black ? N can I use my hair dryer ?
So both products are Vivid, one is outdated or old product and the other is the new product. Both are Vivid?? Or is one a fake product?? Link to Vivid New Product??
It looks like he was implying the crappy one could be a fake. It's like fake money....it looks real but it's not.
thanks dude have a good one

19DESERTFOX91 was the Vvivid vinyl wrap from Amazon any good?
Keep up the education program. Most people have no idea.
Appreciate it, going to vvivid now,
how hot can it get b4 it melts ( i puting it on my motorcycle frame in az )
Ok so not from eBay But Amazon is okay right?
The problem is with the same with all products, if you don't lower your prices then you'll get copies from China, where it's probably made anyway 🙄, that are available for cheaper
damn good Advice!
Thank you for this
For a bmw 650I 2010 how much vinyl should I get
HI CK, do you still doing business with Vvivid? They doing business so un- honesty .
on the vvivid website the 60' roll I want is $350.. is that not a good vinyl? it's called snow camo matte
+3many15 if you order from their website it will be good
Good to know. Thanks
Thanks for the heads up! What is your site?
ebay wraps: the only vvivid competitor.
So if any Vvivid film, chrome or not, has the white colored adhesive when you peel it off the backing paper, is it fake stuff?
How can you tell for vvivids tail light tint ?
Wow, yeah I hear Vvivid wasn't good wrap. Think the fake stuff on Ebay is why. Thanks.
so sir how could we find good wrap materials any idea which site is real Vivide 😊
Kamal Maan in the video he said to order straight from vvivid or even order it through his company which is CKWraps
So way about it been blk on the sticky side?
What about matt/Gloss vinyl?
All I see is one called yellow conform chrome
yes, get it direct from Vvivid its worth it
I found Supercast on eBay. I ordered a sample from them and a sample from Vvivid. they are the exact same. If you don't get Supercast, then you get the junk. And it's cheaper
