I just ordered a 75' roll of vvivvid ultra gloss combat green. I was torn between what company to go with, now I'm glad I chose vvivvid. Thanks for the comparison!
I wrapped my 350z completely with matte vivvid. It was my first time with no experience and it came out super good. Watching your videos inspired me lmao and I wanna start a little side job with this. Thanks man
Honestly 3M is one of the films I began learning with and disagree that’s its difficult to use. The 3 I began with are 3M, Avery Denison, and KPMF at my friends shop here in Vegas , KPMF easily has some of the best colors but is the hardest to work with (but the quality is extremely good once installed, it’s just very very sticky when trying to apply which gets annoying ). Avery I’ve noticed is the easiest to lay and can be done with no heat at all but 3M is definitely a good starter wrap that has the best quality (This is not me trying to disqualify what CK believes or that I think he’s wrong, I support him and and his channel)
You're right, I'd put KPMF up there in difficulty but the quality is worth the effort. Most beginners end up stretching over smaller areas which tends to lead to discoloration until their techniques improve. Having a film with less discoloration makes the install look better because it's easier to maintain the finish. Again this is subject to finish types. For example chrome is difficult no matter what
Ive trained with 3M and found it really nice to use, but I used KPMF to wrap my own car which was the first car I ever wrapped, and jesus christ it was hard. It was very sticky, and needed a LOT of heat to stretch, then lost heat very quickly. Also, I noticed KPMF is very brittle when cold, and rips very very easily, but when my car was finished it looked amazing. The colour is fantastic, and even on the stretched parts, there was no discolouration.
what do you expect? lol CK Wraps owns VViViD. no matter what the comparisons are, he's going to say his vinyl is the best. Just like the rest of his other comparison videos.
@@redding4540 true, but that big of a finish and color change? I would be pretty mad... and you should be able to stretch it at least a little without any discoloration
Excellent demonstration. I personally find 3M to be very aggressive when it comes to their glue. I have had 3M remove paint from 2 bumpers when trying to readjust a film. Plus the glue lines in 3m seam to be worse
First off I've watched you for a couple years and love the knowledge you pass down even to people who are dok g it for them selfs .. second I love the fkn suit you rock

I am going to wrap my Motorhome. For now just the flat fiberglass panels. CK your videos are why I am even going to attempt this job. I got some samples of 3m, Avery and Vivid and they are all totally different. I wanted to test colors and ease of use. All seem to have pros and cons. The 3m seemed the most willing to rework until I tried reworking the hell out of a section of Vivid. Avery just stretches like crazy but seemed the easiest to wrinkle. Vivid is stiff as hell until you heat then it just goes like a noodle. The stiffness makes it less easy to wrinkle I think. So for my flat panels I think it is probably the best. Especially for the price. They all surprise me in their willingness to rework. Like if it sucks just peel it up and start over. Thanks for the info!
Finding balance with adding heat is the key ingredient. Each film requires a different amount of heat in order to become pliable while Avery is mostly pliable in room temperature.
I’m currently using Avery with the company I work for and haven’t quiet dealt with any hazing issues that are bad, but personally have had plenty of issues with 3m and for what they charge I’m surprised
Has anyone used or heard of Vinyl Frog? it's a China film I used for my first wrap and I thought it was fairly easy to work with I found it a little more flexible than some vvivid films but can give you some funky glue marks when you stretch and squeegee while it's still hot and is pretty sticky and can be hard to pull off, truck is only 30% wrapped but I think it's looking good for my first attempt
I wrapped my own car as my first time using Vinyl frogs matte Russian Violet,it was easy to work with and honestly happy how it all came out,but yes i definitely relate to the glue lines experience as well.
I would have loved to have seen this with black vinyls. The results I know for a fact would have been the same but black is so unforgiving it illustrates the results well.
I used vvivid vinyl once and it didn't act like yours at all. Once it touched the paint there was no adjustment, it stuck too hard and couldn't be lifted again, I had to carefully squeegee the bubbles out as I laid it down and if I missed a bubble it was immediately locked in and I had to poke a hole in it
Been curious about your favorite films, or favorites for certain applications, repositionability. 3M, Arlon, Vivid, Avery, Oracal? Had a bad experience with avery on a boat wrap. Print through in the adhesive, so I removed it and used oracal. I have avoided avery ever since. Vivid chrome was inexpensive for a small job on a truck doing accents but challenging to work with. Orafol has been my preference for the best gloss and color depth and ability to stretch without discoloration or lifting. Haven't used vivid on anything else but maybe I need to look.
I just tried to use vivid on my 750i gloss black to black out the chrome and holy crap that stuff doesn’t stick for some reason so I switched over to the 3m and it stuck so much better and didn’t bubble like the vivid did
I own a shop in Denver, we do mostly commercial fleets, but when we do color changes, we have to use 3M.. AVery fails in our weather in a few months, and every other Chinese vinyl including vivid just shrinks in the sun quickly.
Have you guys ever used Oracle? I'm curious because the two color choices I've narrowed down for my car are either Oracle fir tree metallic green or 3m gloss charcoal metallic. I'm in Albuquerque so we don't get quite as cold as you guys do there in Denver

Hi there. Im about to do a wrap job using vvivid gloss film with the additional protectiv film on top that comes with it. My question to you is when do you remove that protectov film. I have seen people removing it before squeege, some after. Thanks.
Remove that clear film before you install. That stuff wont stretch like the vinyl does. So i would remove it after you cut off the piece you're about to install.
Those lines/white haze/blotches are annoyingly common in gloss 3M 1080 gloss colors. Here and there, so inconsistent. Those areas can be post heated after install and should minimize those imperfections. Slow and high heat but keep moving to avoid frying. That 2080 series is 👍🏼 so far( I only used gloss black) what do you think of it CK?

Does every vinyl have to be stretched? Can it just be laid down with a smoother? Does it always have to be yanked on to go around corners if it's on a basic flat surface like a door?
Hi man, I would like to start a business wrap in my country (there's just one but doesn't work full wraps, just chrome deletes and carbon fibre hoods), but because of the currency exchange and economic situation it has to be super cheap. Around 500 USD for a simple glossy color, this means that my only option for vinyls is no name brands. People here are not willing to spend 2K on a wrap, not even a paint job. The supercar community here is very small also (they are more likely to pay for a wrap with better materials). I would like to get your opinion on the situation, anyone's opinion actually helps! Thank you so much! Love the videos and wraps! Edit: Merry Christmas!
What country are you from? Ive used to install no name wraps, it depends on the techniques. They are all same quality when installed on customers view, but for installer, avery is much easier. For business side, if you know how to install no name brand, its good
Mario Restaura i wrap cars in the philippines for usd250 that includes all the materials and my profit. I use chinese wraps. Once properly installed. Appearance is just the same. But i am now living in the u.k and most company here, uses avery. I applied in yiannimize but i was not given a chance to have a trial because the manager said that my last experience is 1 year ago. They are wrapping luxury cars and they are afraid to gamble. In my mind, its ok, they are afraid of the risk considering ive used the worlds hrdest to instsll materials and they only used avery and yet they told me that my last experience is a year ago.😂
@@nasigeo2790 I'm From Guatemala, we don't have public mail here so everything has to come through DHL or a Courier, that means extra cost. Also people here are super ultra cheap, they are not willing to pay for good quality. On top of that Supercar community is super small, like 10 Ferraris, 2 Lambos, 2 Mclarens, 2 or 3 GT-R, some AMGs, that leaves me targeting the civics and lancers who are own by people awfully cheap! That's why I need to keep it under like 500 USD with installation. Also, what film did you use? and was it somewhere good?
Wow awesome tutorial buddy ... 3m sucks . and a WIN for vvivid ... love the outfit christian . coolio. ... 😇 have a great Christmas and new year 2020 bro 🎄🎈🎉✨
Where i live chinese vinyl is in most cases , the only option, because the main brands (3m , vivid , etc). Are crazy expensive... So .. what we do to avoid no name brands we use oracal 651.. but is a vinyl with no air release.. so it's quite dificult to wrap a car with it... ( And oracal hasn't have a lot of finishes ,so if you want a brushed metal vinyl for example, you 100% will have to buy a chinese film).
Agree, i'm living in indonesia and as far as i know branded vinyl such as 3m, vivid, and hexis, is crazy expensive because i need to import the stuff.. even ppf are rarely to find in here... my prediction ppf will be booming in 2020, replacing nano coating..
I was taught by a 3M trainer to never heat a small area and stretch too far. If you need to stretch, heat over a large area and try not to stretch more than 15-20%. As we know, different brands need different install techniques, and this is why people think 3M is hard to use. If you know how to use it, its not hard at all.
You're absolutely right. Never stretch over small areas. But in the title, this is more geared towards beginners and showing that another brand is more forgiving when learning
@@CKWraps Yes you're right. I used cheap ebay vinyl to learn the basics with, as 3M and Avery is quite expensive in the UK, and its money wasted when you just need to learn. I noticed KPMF is quite cheap over here, and although its hard to use, its a good learning material, because if you learn with hard material then it can only get easier with the good stuff 👍
Honestly man, I got Vvivid's Nardo Grey or their version of it and it was terrible material. I prefer 3M or Avery much better. It was so bad to work with that we actually ended up eating the cost and switching brands. They're tint is pretty good, but as far as vinyl, terrible.

Vvivid is fine on flat surfaces, but sux at sticking on curves. It also scratches from the slightest touch so looks shitty after a few weeks. It has a nice finish but is way too stiff. 3m is much easier to work with and doesnt scratch like vvivid. U have to blast the hell out of vvivid with heat over and over, 3m you dont. I did my window trim on my grand cherokee and didnt have to use heat at all to get it to bend.
I fucking love your blazer. Absolutely love it. I’ve always wanted a similar blazer. I want to drive my car all the way from Florida, all the way up to you and wrap my car with you, but that would be a very very expensive wrap. I mean unless if I pay for all the material and I’ll do 99% of the work, I would just love your help. But that would never happen sadly. 😢😢😢 I’ve wrapped little things like car interior things, I put my own graphics kit on my drz400sm. Which I wanna wrap all in carbon fiber. So I have the cone crept. I do and cut all of my own vinyl stickers and place my vinyl cuts off of my plotter so I have the general concept of it. But it would me an awesome thing, I would feel so honored.
You cant test that bro from a small piece and stretch them, if you want to compare them and test. Try with large panel like hood or doors. Youll see chinese wraps easily creates adhesive lines and bubbles for large areas. One problem is that uou cannot stretch chinese wraps like what you are doing in mirrors or door handles. Youll end up failing after few weeks
@@jsdzx all the Wrapped cars in on my TH-cam channel are with Avery. Unless someone wants a crazy color. Matte or Gloss Black I'll just keep using what I'm used to. Good luck with the removal.
strange test, alot of stretch in a small area, doesnt really give a good test, i did my training recently and they talked about not doing this very thing. vvivid being more forgiving is good for people without training but wont help when they change brands for colors and effects
Strickly talking about what makes a film harder to install for beginners. You're absolutely right, and as I said in the video you shouldn't be stretching over small areas. What's interesting about this is that even with 3m when you stretch over a larger area it still changes color for example doing a bumper or hood with compound curves. Also, on a mirror how do you avoid the discoloration since a mirror needs quite a bit of stretch over a very small area

Bro how much % would u consider those stretches to be? More then the 10% u talk about?
so for my first project, is a satin finish safer to work with over a gloss? Looking to wrap a Miata hard top
Depends
What if you use 3m primer with the no name vinyl
plz do a bmw m4 headlight tint, its super tricky
Do a review over techwrap "yellow gold chrome "
Does every vinyl have to be stretched? Can it just be laid down with a smoother? Does it always have to be yanked on to go around corners if it's on a basic flat surface like a door?
Good question...would like to know that myself
Were I can buy a GOOD quality vinil
I'm sorry I know you were talking about the comments you would get about the color difference but that light blue was definitely hiding alot
Where can I find some good cheap vinyl for beginners
“if you have this” *looks at bright jacket
“When you guys try” *looks at bright jacket
“Can you see the line” *i can see the bright jacket
Which one is the best
I’m currently doing my first wrap with HEXIS. I do not recommend it. They have great color options but it’s not easy to work with.
Hey man, I live in Australia where day temp is 105f will vvivid pro still work ? Or will it break with the heat
going into 2020 still roasting 3m! *clap*
can you make a video window wrap pls
Dat jacket doe
Great content as always! Thanks for all your knowledge. Cant wait to have my car wrapped!
You can get a roll of VViViD for less than 500 USD
@@CKWraps Yes, I know. I meant full wrap job, including material and installation.
Avery D has been my goto for years. Most of all my full wrap projects are done with Avery.
@@FadeToBlackLLC Agreed. Can't go wrong with Avery!
@@MiguelGutierrez just did racing and side strips on a Challenger.. Avery Matte Black and the customer was happy. I was happy because the Avery almost went down by itself 🤣🤣🤣
@@FadeToBlackLLC yeah doesn't surprise me, I'm sure you killed it too!
I did wrap my car bumper with vivid. It wasn’t really hard as first timer
I've been watching you're video's all week.
Bit of a dissapoinment that Chinese wrap is not good.
But i wonder, if i can find one with good tackyness, is that ok then??
I found a really cool cameleon colour i really want.
But don't want to spend to much sins it will be my first time wrapping🤔
love the festive jacket ahahaha
Its really charm
Wow! Thanks for this awesome fricken review man!
Are you sponsored by Vvivid? I only ask because a lot of what I’ve heard is vvivid is hard to apply and especially hard for beginners since it doesn’t stretch as much
Yes
just ordered a little slice of Avery from Amazon as they dont sell rolls to the public
Don Cherry said " You people should not buy anything else but Vvivid"
Why you didnt you a different blue for the test just like the others 🤔🤔
Oh wow, what I told my coworker is, if we can get good at wrapping with the Chinese carbon fiber wrap, then we can wrap with anything 😆 5'x100' for $100, can't not buy the roll lol
SRT_LYF i have techniques how to wrap chinese wraps. Im used to using chinese wraps and they ate very hard t install on large panel and very small panel. They are good at an average panel like door
@@nasigeo2790 I wrapped my front bumper insert, rear side skirts and a portion of my license plates with the stuff and its holding up pretty good. I used the Chinese carbon as a test and the second try it came out so good I left it on instead of the original black shadow I was going to use. I tried doing a Honda odyssey hood with it and it's so frustrating. The super tackiness, brittleness and thinness makes it hard to pull up to position.
SRT_LYF did you use heatgun? Pm me i will message you my technique. I cannot make it public as there were also some from my hometown watching this, the one who taught me that never wants me to publicly post it because so much competition in the philippines that everyone wants to do business there.. geovannigutierrez@icloud.com
I did my window trim on my grand cherokee and didnt have to use heat at all to get it to bend.
in Christmas mood
I would usually agree but this time it actually is the color. If you use the same color it would of been better. Not those 2 but any 2 you might have.
Merry Christmas man🎅🏻
Need to add cheetah wrap. That shit is a nightmare to remove. I’m sticking to Avery
I've been seeing so many use Cheetah. I'd like to try some but I'm still an Avery goto for my installs.
Fade To Black LLC , I have removed both. It’s night and day. I still have more to remove I will update the results with a different method
Vvivid 50ft for $249 was best bang for buck for me.
Helluva jacket dude!
Woah, snazzy jacket. Merry xmas.
I was concentrated on the jacked the whole video
I can’t believe you even wrapped a jacket
If CK wasnt in Canadurrr id be all over there getting my E82 wrapped. was in Ohio, (In Germany now)
He's got a work shop in Romania in January.
Great content!
Did someone pay you to wear that jacket?
Put red or purple instead blue abd let's see.
Isn't fair this comparison at least you try to beat up 3m brand because some cudos
Should’ve used the same colors
