Nice idea, thanks. I need to do one quick lightweight routing job and don’t really want to spend money on the Dremel routing table. This could be the answer.

I've never been 1st to watch anybody's YT video, much less one that is relavent to my need!
    Thanks for posting this!

Ingenious using the collar to pinch the mounting plate! Made mine with plexiglass instead of steel because I just had some and it was easier to cut than metal, works perfect for what I need. Cheers

Nice ! Love it when you see common sense being shared. Looking at making model 18th century naval frigate from scratch and this will make tiny mouldings possible.

    👏👏👏 parabens, uma idéia brilhante.
Prática e simples e acima de tudo com otima funcionalidade.
Sem pompom e frescura, pratico e simple e de facil acesso a todos. Parabéns.

Good idea. But I would never, never ever fix a thing steel plate to that little plastic knob near the top. I know. Small tool, small torque. But still, this thing is not designed for that. I was thinking of using some kind of epoxi 2 component modeling paste to make a mold for the device and glue or screw that to some wooden bars and fix that to the wood plate. Seems more sturdy imo. But nevermind. Love that you implemented this :)

Good idea to mount the tool on a plate. Would the wiggle improve 1) with a thicker plate, 1/8", for example, 2) secured to the table closer to the center hole? Thank you.

if I remember right, the reason I used that size plate was that was what was handy, and it was thick enough to give support but not so thick that the threads on the collar could still get enough grip on themselves.

Nice implementation... However can't help but wonder, what will happen if the collar on the Dremel securing it to the metal plate cracks or simply gets loose from the vibration. 20000 rpms, is no joke regardless of the size of tool. There's potential for the Dremel to spin and detach from the plastic collar, and/or shred the collar ro pieces sending shrapnel all around. If I were making this, I would make sure to add a vertical 4x4 perpendicular to the top, and using clamps to secure the Dremel to it. Shroud over the spinning bit or some sort. Still, kudos, much sturdier than the plastic one they sell.

Adding a vertical post and a bit of imagination can make it both safer, and add plunging vertical adjustment to it - win-win

      Something along this idea: th-cam.com/video/Zh95WSOrilk/w-d-xo.html

Another thing to consider - pulling the bit out to adjust height is a recipe for disaster. You exponentially decrease clamping force by the collar, making it wobbly on an already wobbly tool, decrease life span of the collar insert by making it out of round with the first occurrence of a slippage. Just a bad idea. Please rethink that part. Look up regular router usage and treat any similar tool with respect so you don't get hurt.

thank you for your concern. dremels may have high rpm, but they have very little torque. i think that if that collar were to crack or come loose, the dremel motor would simply drop to the floor. the sort of plastic that the collar is made out of doesnt really shatter or send very sharp pieces of shrapnel, it just sort of gets mangled. also bear in mind that with the way i am using it, there is only a small portion of the tool that is above the wood surrounding the collar and shaft of the tool, perhaps 1/4" at most and the cuts are very light. even if the cutter gets loose, or something goes wrong, you simply jam your workpiece on top of the bit, and pull the cord or hit the switch and the bit is completely covered from all sides while it stops.

I use that setup every time that I make a batch of tie on slingshots, and it works very well
