After bagging on the nail I am so glad he pointed out exactly what I was thinking; easy to replace if lost. Thank you Dremmel so very much for not making it some unique piece we would have to buy. No need for greed like that with Dremmel. I am going to buy one of these

There are many uses! But yes, most of my use is inlay work. 👍

I've been thinking about getting one of these to use on some of my custom Victorinox Swiss army knife projects, to route in the tweezer, toothpick, and pen slots in the back of the Sambar stag scales that I have made... definitely looks very doable !

I've had one of these for about a year now, it's a great bit of kit and I've done a lot with it. Although, I must admit, user error on my part.. I never thought about going in "stages" to get a deeper cut. Makes sense really, now I know why my Dremel bits heat up and scores the wood. They say you learn something new every day.. Today I learned common sense with this kit lol. Thank you!

@@KingBespokeCreations I learned from 2 exes who were mechanics that if you have to force something you are doing it wrong. I saw someone reviewing some bits and going so deep and saying the bit was bad and I wanted to scream at them but I just let it go. They will learn because real Dremel bits are worth their weight in gold and expensive to replace.
I own just about every dremel attachment out there except this one. Just done have that much a need for it yet. Got the circle cutter on prime day and getting the 8260 this week. I use a dremel lite a lot but my normal dremel is the 300 series still running great after 20+ years! But I’m hooked on cordless now. I know I’ll get this probably. Lol. Foredom down the road.

Hi! this base works well if there is space. I find it limiting for instance for routing an inlay on a guitar headstock because the base collides with nut or fretboard. for this sth like the stew Mac one is better suited I believe.

I just picked one up recently, and I just put it together and set it up this evening, but I am really impressed with the design and what you get for the price,... and I don't get to say that very often nowadays.
Best of all, it fits the Harbor Freight Dremel knock-off no problem.

I bought a Router from Aldi many years ago and it has served me well. Now I'm retired and only fiddle about making small things for fun. I often use the trusty Dremel for various tasks. The little black one is okay but prone to moving off line and not so stable. Having seen this video I'm going to order one of these plungers for my Dremel as it looks pretty sturdy and a lot lighter than using a more commercial sized one. going to see what other videos you've done as I quite like the way you present them. Looks like a nice router base for the price.
Too big unfortunately for instruments inlay but definitely would have its place in furniture to create inlay channels and edge routings.

I just got one and I'm excited to use it I would recommend somebody who wants one to order the light I didn't realize at the time but they have them specially for these bases.
I made my own out of a small reading light. I'm trying to build guitars so this is a wonderful tool

Perfect for a few larger, and tinier inlays, say on a bass fretboard
Funnily enough, I was thinking the same thing!
I had one of those. Tried using it for an inlay but found the plastic bits a little fiddly. Ended up selling it and getting a Stewmac precision router base instead. To be fair, the Stewmac base costs quite a bit more and it doesn't plunge, so depending on what you need to do and how you use it, the Dremel base may be a useful option.
It took a bit of getting used to, how to set the depth stop etc. but worth it.

Oh I got all excited about this attachment only to realise it is not compatible with my dremel 7760, sad :( Loved the video though, really appreciated the demonstration, as I wouldn't have a clue how to set it up and use it 😅
Thanks for the info….Perhaps next a video to demonstrate more practical use of it, a bit more user detail, tips and techniques that kinda thing. Not that the presentation was bad, however we might like to see those guide bushes in action, inlay work, more sign writing practice and a demonstration of pattern bit use. Plus, how much the tool bogs under load and ease of use etc.
Just got my Dremel plunge router attachment yesterday to specifically cut out a partial circle/square for hinges in bathroom vanity doors. Tried (key word) a couple yesterday and there was so much wood dust that I stopped being able to see the pattern that I had written in ink on the door. Wish it had a vacuum attachment.
I put a flap of masking tape on the cutter shaft. It acts as a little fan, clearing the visible surface as you go 👍

@@KingBespokeCreations I would mostly just do edges on router - either rounding them up or down so thats why I am thinking of getting Router table.
But in your video I saw that you managed to do edges pretty well with plunger so not sure which one to get
@@lukapavlesic7610 because it’s a light package, I’d go with the rougher base rather than the table if I was to have only one. You’ll have more uses out of the base I think.

Mine lasted 2 months. The knob for tightening it and keeping it at the depth you want it at striped and shortly after, the nuts that the knob screwd into came right out of the whole thing.

Free hand. I like to cut around the edge with a knife first, then remove the middle with the Dremel. 👍

I have many Dremel attachments, and I REALLY like them.
Except for the router attachment: If you plunge less than 0.25 mm at the time it's ok. More and you get a bad result.
If I have to buy it now, I will NOT. It was money NOT well spent.
This attachment is in a cabinet for more than 2 years and I certainly will never use it anymore...
It’s certainly one for delicate detail cutting. I use it quite a lot for inlaying. 👍
I gave around $45.00 I think. Just got it today along with some little pieces of wood. Thanks for the tutorial. I have the Dremel 4300 that comes in the big blue box. Bought one for my neighbor, too because the druggies stole all his tools right out of his shop. He's in his 60s. A thing like that could kill a man. You know? I'll share the plunge router. Maybe get him one for his Birthday. I got the multi-vise, too. I have more bits than most guys, probably, and I used to use mine for crafts, but now I have to be careful and just use it to fix things around the house.

Very useful video. I am new to woodworking and this was very handy. Did anybody find a 1/8" flushed trim bit with a ball bearing at the tip? I've been looking for it for a week now and it seems it does not exists!

Hi there. Great review but I would like to know if this will fit the Dremel 3000, as my wife bought me the 3000 and I want to use it for light work such as hifi speaker building and guitar making etc.
It’s the 3000 I currently use. So yes it fits perfectly!

Just bought both of these. The router bits are tiny, with limited applications. Is it possible to buy bigger router bits, or is this it? Oh, great demo by the way.
They do a range of bits but nothing massive 👍

I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
I was thinking, this would be quite useful for trimming worktop laminate, because it's so lightweight. But not sure if they do the correct bit?

Yes I believe it was. But it would do the same on hardwood too.

Will any generic rotary tool fit this jig? I have a few different òff brand tools already I don't want to have to buy another one just to use this?
It attaches using the thread that would normally house the collar.

Can't seem to find an answer. Got the 4300 and trying to mount it into the 335-01. The Dremel website says it's compatible but the shape/threaded nose just does not seem to fit!

can you get a bushing to trace around an inlay template?
It comes with two different sized bushes/collars although that said it might just be one bush with a lock ring.... you can mount them on it to follow a template. I just got mine today and it seems pretty good for the money. Hope this helps.

It uses the thread on the Dremel to attach, so if your tool has the same thread collar it might do

It screws on the large thread at the end. So if another make has that same thread (probably unlikely) it should fit.

For me it's the wand extension. I use it for the occasional lettering and fret polishing. I made my own router base with screws and nuts, but the adjustment is painfully slow, and the nuts tend to vibrate loose. I'll have to pick one of these up soon.

Can this model actually cut a circle in a piece of wood 10-20mm thick or it will struggle? I haven't seen a youtube reviewer put any of these tools to work instead they talk.
Yes it would, but not in one go. But I would cut that thick with a full power router in one pass either.
This isn’t meant to replace your big router, rather add to the capability of your precision Dremel

But it has a area of expertise. You could cut tree branches down with a dovetail saw, but you wouldn’t. It doesn’t make the dovetail saw useless.
@@KingBespokeCreations Answering this simple questions with other analogy especially tools not everybody is familiar with is not right. I'm talking about This particular Dremel 8220 here. Why is a router attachment added in the package when it can't really cut through 10mm-20mm thick softwood and plywood? I've not been able to find any video where this is demonstrated on the world wide web, and if so, can I have the link?
I'm starting to see this Dremel things as a collectioners item almost like an artpiece people brag about but, it can't really do anything other than cut cartons.
So don’t buy one. But may I recommend not trying to cut 20mm thick anything in one pass with any router.

Sorry to hear that, certainly didn’t have those issues with mine. Make sure everything is nipped up, if you think it’s a fault, contact Dremel.
