    I believe the 2017 Porsche Macan S is one of the best used SUVs one can buy. The performance and refinement of the Macan is uncanny among the competition. If you own a Macan S, please let us know how it has aged over the years.

    I bought a 2016 blue Macan S about 5 months ago (CPO). The thing is freaking amazing. I almost feel like I'm in a tall sports car instead of a performance SUV. Considered GTS/Turbo as well but the S is an absolutely incredible value for the ~$30-40K range.

    • @captainkaiii
      @captainkaiii หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@4ndrew-Elysium It's been decent but it's no Lexus. (My Lexus and Acura have literally had no problems for their entire lifetime). The only major problem I've encountered hasn't been a mechanical 'issue' per se, but I had to replace my radiator due to a large rock hitting it and causing a coolant leak. Parts + labor at an independent shop was about $1500 (in California) so it's certainly not cheap if something major goes south. Other than that, I've only paid for routine oil changes and maintenance costs at the normal service intervals. However, 3 other somewhat annoying items were covered by my CPO warranty in the first 2 years of ownership: 1. The window switch broke off (apparently a common problem) so I had to have the entire assembly replaced since they don't sell the individual switches, through luckily it was covered by CPO. 2. A mechanism in one of my headlights that levels the light when the car is turned on completely broke. Once again, they don't repair the headlight - they just replaced it. And 3. The seat cooler for the driver's side stopped working, and had to be fixed.
      These aren't really mechanical issues but pretty typical of German cars - at this point (a few years after I bought mine in 2020), I'd recommend getting a 2019 or later (after the minor facelift), and CPO if possible, though not necessary. I hear there are less of these little issues and it has a better infotainment system. Hope that helps!

      @@unclebob4964 @Uncle Bob49 I actually went to see another Macan S today opportunistically. It was a fully loaded (apart from Reverse Cam and Adaptive Cruise) 2014 with 60k miles. The guy was an enthusiast and the condition inside and out was absolutely unbelievable. However, the colours weren't my first choice. White on outside (not keen on this) and Red inside (not bad). The car drove amazing, the 18 way seats are so comfortable. The suspension just tackled all bumps at mid to higher speeds so impressively. However, here's the negatives that put me off. 1. The car is on the claustrophic side due to the high front console. The black headliner combined with sunroof (which is tinted and doesn't let much light in) and rear privacy glass (also tinted), means that the back of the car is very dark. The central tunnel is big and difficult to climb over. My girls love reading books in the car and they wouldn't be able to do this. The worst part is that the car wasn't specced with rear ventilation! So the thought of my kids being in a dark, cramp space with no air was a big turn off. The boot is on the small side for what we are used to. Aside from the amazing driving dynamics, it's not the most practical family car. Really has me looking at Cayennes now! I'll probably cancel the Friday appointment as I prefer more space to extreme driving dynamics. I'm sure the Cayenne will be plenty capable enough, especially as my wife will be driving it most of the time.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea my friend Macan is certainly a bit cramped. Cayenne would fit your needs much better especially a more loaded one with ventilated rear seats. Plug in hybrid variant would be nice to save on some fuel as well

    • @unclebob4964
      @unclebob4964 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@aerotus888 I think you’re on the right track. I ordered my 2017 and was able to customize it a bit. ( and boy is THAT ever expensive !!! )
      The missing options you mentioned would bother me too !
      My other thought is the fact it is a “first year” Macan. That alone shouldn’t be a deal breaker…..that’s just MY hang-up.
      The Cayenne has been around for ever…..and roomier for the kids.
      At the end of the day, I do think you will be happier with the Cayenne……or a bit better optioned and newer Macan.
      Good hunting…..

  • @aerotus888
    @aerotus888 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've driven an SQ5 (2016) and it was below expectations. Most notably the suspension stiff and unbefitting of a family cruiser. It just wasn't enough to get me excited over a standard 3L diesel Q5 which I ended up getting years ago. Sold that as it felt too clinical and the 4 wheel drive forward bias was unexciting and felt like a driving a box.

    The Porsche Macan shares its platform and wheelbase with the first generation Audi Q5 (2008-2017). The suspension configuration is based on, and heavily modified from the Audi, but the engine, transfer case, suspension tuning, interior and exterior body are unique to the Macan. in other words this is not a Q5, it is a Porsche on an audi platform which isn't bad. that is pretty much were the similarities stop

Nothing wrong with it (and it’s engineering is near perfect) but for some reason I’d never be motivated to fork over the cash. Whereas, I look at something like the Velar and start making excuses for all it’s shortcomings.

    Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. The transfer case on my 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.
