Great review Matt. I don't know why automakers make performance cars these days and don't put much focus on steering feel. Bad steering will ruin a car for me, but the new Mustang GT seems cool outside of that
Because literally 99% of cars have bad steering feel they don't need to spend money on it. Unless you're cross shopping this with Porsche, Civic Type R, you would never notice and no one is cross shopping between those options.
@eurly93 not sure if I fully agree with your statement, but I understand where you're coming from. I would say buyers who would actually notice steering feel is a pretty small percentage so like you said, companies don't see a reason to invest dollars there. Also, the 99% number you threw out was a bit of an exaggeration haha
With the dual TB and inlet/intake setup there’s no way these engines are going to see improvements from aftermarket throttle bodies and cold air. This dual setup definitely flows more cfm than the stock engine can consume.
@@thomasxl200 With cylinder head work, cams, maybe intake porting and E85 it’ll make 600 crank (~520-530 rw)without much trouble. I’m just saying I think it’ll also do that with the stock TBs and air inlets.
@@thomasxl200 Yeah, all the gains from “cold air and tune” packages are going to be from the tune. JLT and others all will probably hate this dual setup.
This looks like a brilliant package, I definitely want one with this spec. I enjoyed the edit too, we're all here to hear your thoughts on the car so at least the audio wasn't lost 😂
Cam file saving is less than stuck in the 90s. Why can't files be saved securely every minute and then neatlessly stitched in post editing? Also, camera overcooling is something I hear way too much. How did 1980s video cams record anything at all, pushing a tape around?
Great video and first drive. Love the looks of the new car, sounds great even in the video, but still disappointed in the ipad dash (Although the fox body option is cool!) One part really stuck out though "Few bits of evidence of cost cutting". When the "everyman's" car like a Mustang or Camaro now has a 5 or 6 as the starting number on price, the last thing I'd ever want when getting into the car is feeling like theres cost cutting going on. I understand the days of $30k sports cars are over, but when Matt says the price will probably be around $60k for this model, "Cost cutting" are not the words I want to hear.
That's the trade off you make. If you want a similar performance/experience with better materials, then you'll pay more. I mean, you can step into M2/3/4 territory but bring your wallet...
Average cost of any new car is almost 50k now so this GT being in that range means it's not that expensive compared to the rest of the industry, just like has always been the case.
@@KyleRohde For sure, but I think accepting inflation is still hard for many. People aren't used to hearing "A mustang GT costs $50k". I just built one out on the Ford site and only added a couple options over base, and before taxes we're right at $48k, so yeah, over $50K for a lower trim Mustang GT. That's a hard pill to swallow for many, especially since it's suppose to be the "affordable" sports car.
As expected Great review love that you separated track folks from your average consumer. Track people complain like manufacturers are selling a race car not a care that can do everything with a warranty! Keep up the great videos and we did miss seeing your glasses in car lol!
Thanks Matt. The Mustang GT is a good, old-fashioned American performance car. It's made for our roads and it suits us normal Americans just fine. I own one so I might be a little biased. ;-)

And it k I l l s me on the inside when I see what these Kids are doing to them. Whereas The Mustang is Not alluring to these young bucks. So this old Cowboy is going to change to a Mustang. 😊
Bigger concern to me would be the leg room. Mustangs have always been woefully short on driver legroom, from my '90GT, to my 03 Terminator that I ended up selling because it was so uncomfortable to drive, to the 2012 PP1/Brembo G1 Coyote powered car I could have bought at $8K off MSRP. I'm about 6'4", and am yet to find a modern Mustang with enough front seat travel to be comfortable...
There's a saying that goes, "One monkey don't stop no show". I don't think I am alone in saying that I would have been fine if you had soldiered on with the review after your GoPro died. I especially enjoyed the interior camera looking out through the windshield over the hood while you were driving and giving your critique.

wish they'd have an option for 2013-2014 s197 gauges :(
Nice to have pov angles back 😃😃
If it costs more than 60 grand you would be crazy not to buy a Corvette instead . I like Ford , but the closest thing they make that Rivals the Corvette is the Ford GT . Not the Mustang , the Mustang compares with the Camaro .
you find a new vette for 60k. Ill wait
I doubt it will be more than 60 grand unless optioned crazily, and if you want a manual then the Corvette isn't an option (well, the C8 anyway).
They're pretty different cars, even if you could get a Corvette around 60 (not possible yet).
I would do C8 but I want a manual and backseats
A C8 for $60,000, LOL
Nice review. Interesting.. but still prefer the looks and sound of the 2022 Mach 1 Perf Pack by a country mile.
Love the new format. My biggest complaint with the previous format was always having to see Matt’s face, but I always loved the light editing touch over some of the more experimental styles in some recent videos. This is the best of both worlds! Jk, you are great, sorry about your GoPro. Insta360 all the way!
Nice Broyhill Brasilia piece under the tv
I just got rid of my overheating GoPro's and am switching to DJI Osmo Action 3's. As good or better than GoPro depending on who you ask. Seen several comparison videos and the DJI comes out on top most of the time. (Action 4 with 4k 120fps and larger sensor coming soon) Can't recommend on experience yet (still waiting for my order to ship) but plenty of positive reviews out there.
Love the road shots vs. looking at your (or any other guy's) face!
Not summer, but will be curious how a GT PP does on a 90 degree on the track. Or is the PP just street mods intended and have to go DH for occasional track? I'd hate to hit the track in a 24 GTPP and have my buddy laugh at me in his boxster s he bought for sub 15K :(. different groups though he rids with the largely cayman boi's crowd.
Awesome Color though I just saw a Video where behind the Front Wheels there is an Opening which collects Rock or moisture and in Winter Snow Condition will Cause Corrosion in the Rocker Panel, because the added panel keeps it from clearing up. The only way to Fix is Replacing the Shroud or adding Mud Guards this is only on the S650
Cool man still a could video, and yes it is a Bonus
I'm happy with my 2022 Roush Mustang
4:16 please excuse my ignorance but what is the 1 to 1 gear?
That car sounds the absolute nuts 👌🏼
Sounds glorious!
Why the '23 mustang in the cover photo?
Great video excited for the new stang.
just got a Hero11 myself and all it did this weekend was overheat after 20minutes, huge bummer
The new format is great!😂
Loving the way this car sounds 🔥
With the dual TB and inlet/intake setup there’s no way these engines are going to see improvements from aftermarket throttle bodies and cold air.
This dual setup definitely flows more cfm than the stock engine can consume.
I mean at this point 480 hp from a naturally aspirated 5 liter, you're not gonna get much more in general
True.
Only hot cams will help here.
@@thomasxl200 With cylinder head work, cams, maybe intake porting and E85 it’ll make 600 crank (~520-530 rw)without much trouble.
I’m just saying I think it’ll also do that with the stock TBs and air inlets.
@@BC08 true but at that point you're making some big changes. It's way past the "box says 10 horsepower" cold air intake by now.
@@thomasxl200 Yeah, all the gains from “cold air and tune” packages are going to be from the tune.
JLT and others all will probably hate this dual setup.
i dont mind this style. I get to see more of the car that Im here for.
This mustang is the one my friend is nicely upgraded
This looks like a brilliant package, I definitely want one with this spec. I enjoyed the edit too, we're all here to hear your thoughts on the car so at least the audio wasn't lost 😂
At that price , better off with Mach 1, or boss 302
@@michaeltabanao8092Agreed!
Curious what the color/type of seats you have in this one? Only lighter color choice for ecoboost model is 'gray'
Cam file saving is less than stuck in the 90s. Why can't files be saved securely every minute and then neatlessly stitched in post editing? Also, camera overcooling is something I hear way too much. How did 1980s video cams record anything at all, pushing a tape around?
video came out just fine
Very hot 94° - I’m in North Texas, it’s about 105°😂
Love the new format!
Great video and first drive. Love the looks of the new car, sounds great even in the video, but still disappointed in the ipad dash (Although the fox body option is cool!)
One part really stuck out though "Few bits of evidence of cost cutting".
@@KawiMark oh I get it. I just built one out at 58K and find it hard to believe too but costs have gone up like crazy on cars, beyond inflation.
@@KawiMark Thanks Joe.
Few people can do it like Matt!
I own one so I might be a little biased. ;-)
I’ve watched this video countless times. This is the Mustang I MUST HAVE. Simply well done Ford. The Dodge I currently have is now “ Played out” everyone has it. And it k I l l s me on the inside when I see what these Kids are doing to them. Whereas The Mustang is Not alluring to these young bucks. So this old Cowboy is going to change to a Mustang. 😊
Good video and great audio. Love to hear a great engine note.
The video came out great .
How is the headroom? Being 6'5" I didn't fit in the S550 but the S197 was perfect. is the S650 better?
Bigger concern to me would be the leg room. Mustangs have always been woefully short on driver legroom, from my '90GT, to my 03 Terminator that I ended up selling because it was so uncomfortable to drive, to the 2012 PP1/Brembo G1 Coyote powered car I could have bought at $8K off MSRP. I'm about 6'4", and am yet to find a modern Mustang with enough front seat travel to be comfortable...
@@BWM135I'm 6'1 and have more than enough room
This looks like the 74 coming out of Palm Desert. I've driven and ridden this road many times.
Thought I saw the gt was a $50k car.. must have seen a different options list
There's a saying that goes, "One monkey don't stop no show". I don't think I am alone in saying that I would have been fine if you had soldiered on with the review after your GoPro died. I especially enjoyed the interior camera looking out through the windshield over the hood while you were driving and giving your critique.
