- A moving company crew dumped a truckload of furniture and appliances on Los Angeles' blighted Skid Row overnight, giving the items away to anyone who could carry them. KTLA's Rachel Menitoff reports. July 3, 2024.

people didn't pay the removalist company . I've meet people in the industry .. They hold stuff if you don't pay and do this kinda thing ... Any money ....

It’s not like they’re choosing the specific items to donate. They just pulled up and let them take all the stuff off the truck. not everything is a conspiracy theory, man. The homeless are going to try to get some metal out of that refrigerator and sell it.

you pay up front for it most companies take a deposit for the drive you pay the rest for them to take it in your home.

the biggest news story is how can the city allow something like skid row to exist.
Because a lot of people are financially benefiting the longer people are homeless and the more people become homeless.
The affordable housing complex industry is manipulating our society so that there is a huge demand for state-sponsored, taxpayer funded housing.
Nonprofits, partners, and government agencies not only benefit from high salaries and retirements but act as a hub for profitable vendors in the homeless services industry.
Skid Row has been around for decades though, through both Democratic and Republican leadership in the city. It’s just a thing and always will be

Protocol has changed since Covid really unfortunate and YES it is hard to find companies to pick up items.
They probably tried the bait and switch with the owners of the stuff and the owners wouldn't play, so they dumped it all on Skid Row.

Probably when the owner of all this stuff told the movers he wanted to donate all of it he probably assumed they were going to take it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army, not just dump it on Skid Row.

I like that people donate directly because by the time it goes through all these agencies very little of it makes it to the street.
I think this was extremely humane to do so those people could find at least a tiny smidgen amount of comfort within their living on survival level 365 days a year.
They live with hate by the public as profitable organizations create this situation!

@ 1:11 the Owners requested for their items to be Donated and apparently per the Movers Discretion.
It appears this was at the location of the union rescue mission. This just created a nuisance and more blight for them. It appears that their building is very tidy and they are trying to keep the area nice. They don’t deserve this. It was also very rude and undignified. This was not a donation, it was purely a dump. The City Attorney needs to prosecute the moving company.

I know that there are better ways to help, but not all needy folks know about them, where to go, what questions are asked, or most importantly, have no transportation to get there. I kinda like just putting it out there on first come basis. You know California has billions of dollars in surplus money....maybe show the rest of the country soon how to really fight back and win the problem of homelessness in your state.

If you’re homeless and leave all your trash on the sidewalk it’s ok. In fact the city will drop off a portable toilet for you too.

The big question is why if mentally ill and elderly already have paychecks do we consider them homeless?? Homeless resources should be around giving them jobs, not giving them prescriptions and free housing to take advantage of the checks they already get
