Many have addictions and would rather live on the street because they can’t follow the rules that the government sets for them if they decide to get government services like staying clean etc.
Yeah, their incredibly abrasive take on this speaks volumes about Fox 11. This is my first impression of LA's reporting and it seems like they are very Anti-American. Is all LA reporting on the homeless this disgusting?
Yes!!! Their attitude towards this man is ridiculous, like it’s effecting them! and it’s the very reason why the world is like it is today! One would have thought their attitudes would have been, “wow, how can I help?” Not, “how despicable!” A SHAME!!!! 🤦🏽♀️

The scumbag reporter said "he" called to Police to see if something can be done? Nothing worse than someone who has a Home complaining about people who have nothing! Unbelievable.

@@roodick85 ohhhhh how I wish it were that easy. You are right too. Don't get me started on the treatment or lack therefore from some of the staff who works for the VA facilities. Not all of them, but I know Veterans who have had terrible experiences and I have personally witnessed rude/disrespectful staff. 💔😩🙏🏾
The administration has to do a better job with our veteran population/ the effort has to be reciprocated from the veteran population as well.. I have seen first hand how veterans act when they are getting all of their desires given to them and it’s reprehensible… There is so much funding available to assist the veteran population.. Some work the program and successful attain their erstwhile desires and then there are those whom let their addictions control them and it’s so very sad…

The VA actually does find services and housing for you. If you are on low to no income while in the military, the VA offers you free housing and a federal job to get you on your feet, the housing is temporary until a nearby military installation has housing available or whenever you feel ready to take a VA house loan. The only rules you must follow while spieling with the VA is that you must not be on any form of federal illegal drugs or prescriptions. Normal homeless housing is terrible and is worse than living on the streets, VA homelessness housing is a lot better and actually treats you as a human being.
The fact that he called the police on him is sick. He's homeless, and doesn't want to be surrounded by hundreds of other people in homeless "housing". They really want a homeless man with a generator to pay a LIGHT BILL and PROPERTY TAX?

They actually called the cops, the other guy asked if he was paying property tax and that lady asked if he’s paying a utility bill by using the city’s electricity? This is a perfect example of how heartless and cold this society is we live in 7:37
He's also extremely talented at working on people's bikes without their permission. I live in that area. I had my high-end racing bike stolen so I put up flyers all over the neighborhood. The eatery across the street called me saying that they saw him with my bike. I met the police there. I was so lucky that I got it back before he stripped it apart. It took me 2 years to save up for that bike! He also had 11 other expensive bikes stuffed in that "house".
As a 10 year Army veteran myself, one thing I can tell you is that the Army does a good job teaching you how to survive as a homeless person. Kudos to my fellow veteran brother. "Improvise, adapt, and overcome."
The thing is , this guy doesn't sound like or act like some homeless person on drugs or the like . He's got potential and needs the encouragement to move forward.
They totally ignored the facts that he's an army vet. That's the thanks you get for serving this country for these ungrateful people. No compassion, no sympathy, not a helpful or wishful thought is really sad.
How shameful is this news station is to treat this man in such a judgemental way. He's obviously doing his best to hold onto to his dignity in hard circumstances.
Right, the news report was realt shady. The reporter acted like he almost hurt him to say he was a Veteran. Unfortunately, here in our Veterans aren’t treated the best.. Hell the average citizen is treated with respect
Guy seems coherent, constructive, and has a desire to work. I hope his plans to start a business pan out. He didn't trash the area like so many others do, even had decorative plants outside his home.
I don’t agree. I’m skeptical that he built it in such a busy spot. If hundreds of people do this it’s going to drive down the beauty of the local area. He could build that place in a more remote location and do fine. I slept out in the woods with homeless people and am a military vet myself.
The flower plant on the outside of his home made me emotional. This guy deserves a good life, I hope someone in La can hire him so he can show the world his gifts. God bless
He doesn’t want to be hired. He wants to start his own business. That’s the problem. We’re so far gone that people get mad when others try to live for themselves. Like “Whaaaatt??? You’re not giving all your money to corporations and the government? You’re not sacrificing your life to make wealthy corporations even wealthier so their kids can also be wealthy while yours stay poor? You’re not feeding a machine that will eat you alive when it has nothing else to take from you? Thats not fair! I do it, you should have to, too!” The reality is what has become our norm is extremely fucked up and corrupt, it’s a disgusting perversion of what human life should be like. We’re treated like objects, not living beings. And people want to put all the nice faces on all these different monsters we’ve incorporated as normal but they’re not nice, they’re not pretty, they’re not good. We have become soulless. We need to get back to a lifestyle where we can have small communities where you can do something good for yourself and take care of yourself and your loved ones without anyone else feeling like they deserve part of your income for nothing, really. The government is supposed to serve us. But it hasn’t in hundreds of years. We have been enslaved to it. It’s proven that it’s a bad system. It’s time to move on and come up with something better. Something healthier, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, in every sense. This isn’t it. We can do much better.
He doesn't want to work he said that in the video. It has nothing to do with him not having things available. He wants to live how he wants with no rules or thoughts of his neighbors.
Why does he deserve a good life? You have no ideal who he is or what his background is. You don't know if he's hurt people, killed, robbed. You don't know anything about him. But some flowers hanging tells you automatically he deserves something.
He stands straight, kept his language clean. And its amazing that he still had ambition and selfworth that he’s planning to pick himself up instead of expecting assistance from others. He doesnt come off as a bad person. Just a victim of bad situations and consequence.. And why is that woman so condescending to the guy??
He's not bothering anyone, plus he doesn't seem to be a drug addict or have a mental illness. He looks like a great guy who fell in hard times. I really dislike how the female from channel 11 was attacking him. I hope things work out for this young man. God bless him!

It can't keep happening. This isn't helping anyone. This kills neighborhoods and isn't helping the man himself. All we are doing is enabling homelessness by not doing anything about it. I have no issue with this man personally but why are we allowing this?
I like how Phil ignored Marla’s irritating question about the electricity and ignored it a 2nd after he said “I’m listening” 😂 I respect Phil for respecting Q
Marla is rude and prejudiced. You can see and hear how badly she wanted to demean and "catch" him trying to abuse the system or commit a crime. Terrible behavior when he's clearly one of the few that are trying to do something with themselves.
But he is abusing the system. As the reporter noted, all the businesses in that area are paying high fees to maintain their structures while he just set up his own camp.
@laurenell1112 what fees should he be paying? He built the domicile/shelter himself and provides his own electricity with generators and moves the entire thing when necessary, like cleaning and other reasons. To be honest, it's essentially an RV. Edited for spelling/grammar.
@@ShinM. RVs are on the street, he is on the sidewalk. I view it as a structure, other people are paying high costs to be in structures in that area, he is paying nothing. It becomes more of an issue when other people start doing the same as him.
@laurenell1112 so he can just put it on the street and you're okay with it? I'm sure he can do that. It's completely mobile and is on wheels. And what do you mean he pays nothing? He pays all the taxes he is supposed to. He pays state sales tax, he doesn't have a job to be taxed on and he doesn't own land so he doesn't pay any of those either. Do you complain about corporations or business owners defrauding the government on their taxes as well? I mean, companies and their owners avoid billions in taxes every year. He has lots of friends that would love to build a shanty where you live. Please post your address so they can enjoy your kindness and virtue signaling.
If he is self employed, then he can find some roommates, and pay rent. And if he is able to build that, he can hold a job. Remember he chose to live in this expensive state. Pay your taxes.
4:58 the woman accuses him of stealing electricity when he just said a few sentences earlier that he has his own generator! It baffles me how people can make such a big deal about this beautiful, artistic, well-built construction, rather than dealing with the eyesore trash of other homeless encampments. We really need to designate empty lots to be for anyone willing to put effort into an organized and well-built living place.
Imagine every homeless person builds a “house” like this on the streets. Do you know how unsanitary and chaotic that would make things. People like you think this utopian world exists where homeless people can do nothing for society but give them rights to build shacks on public sidewalks. California will soon be a socialist state.
Ikr & the reporter interviewing seemed irritated when she kept interrupting to say he was stealing electric & milking off the city. I thought he was going to tell her it's a generator run by gas & I was thinking "oh nooooo they're going to freak about the gas, thank God he didn't say anything
Which also gets to one of the cores of this issue..Part of the hatred for the homeless is due to the fact that many who have mortgages and property work extemely hard to afford it or cannot afford it. Instead of admitting that they hate someone who is not slaving away to debt due to jealousy, they trash the homeless and call the police guns. F*** this reporter. Bank should take his money and his house until he gets his shit right.
Not really. Just the fact that if your day to day person would built something like this on their own property city inspector will force you to tear it down. Everyone has to follow the rules. But I do believe this guy carry himself with a positive attitude. He deserves to be given a chance to get a job.

They're refusing city services because people don't understand that shelters and public housing treat you like criminals. Theyre so strict in what you can bring, cerfews, etc.. Then there's theft from other homeless as well. Don't rely on the government to help you, because they won't. It's so sad what this country and big cities have come to. I feel for these people, I was homeless many times and lived in a tent. People need to treat each other with dignity and respect.
People have no idea what housing shelters are like, or the fact that theyre extremely crowded and often don’t even have a bed available for those willing to endure the dehumanizing experience. Including for the sick, those fleeing domestic violence, kids, etc. People have been trained for the last hundred years to view those down on their luck as parasitic, so they have little qualms about looking down on people that might even need to stay in a shelter.

I did 4 years in shelters to get housing, and yes I did eventually get housed with a subsidy program in LA. Shelter is the only way to get subsidized and the subsidy is the only way to realistically afford rent. Anywhere at this point. The inflation is rising so quickly, not just for LA or Cali. Best thing I ever did was get that subsidy. But the things you endure psychologically and physically in the shelter, will leave you changed forever. From the confinement, to overcrowding, to the bad food, the daily violence. People who talk sht about the homeless refusing services haven't lived that life. It's easy for them to imagine the shelter is a nice place and homeless just hate following rules. We like doing things that are easy and we don't like facing realities which are hard to stomach.

Lowkey you could tell the male reporter was trying to not give the female reporter any ammo with the stealing power from the city line. Dude even covered for him and said "No the generator isn't taking power from the city", didn't even ask the dude cause didn't want dude to incriminate himself. Big respect to him for not trying to ruin the homeless man's setup. The US government used to actually do that .Should start it back up.

She doesn’t know what a generator does.
The fact the reporters called the cops on him during the interview. 💀
Absolutely ridiculous he should be kicked in rear for building his house on sidewalk 😂
Does she not understand how a generator works…..
People have no idea what housing shelters are like, or the fact that theyre extremely crowded and often don’t even have a bed available for those willing to endure the dehumanizing experience. I did 4 years in shelters to get housing, and yes I did eventually get housed with a subsidy program in LA. @@Bidenfriend homelessness is a mental effect don't speak bout what you don't know what ur talking about
@@ghostfaceluis so are you saying it's OK to steal just because some business is doing well that's why so many are smashing and grabbing its not right you don't have a right to take what's not yours.. you work and buy or you seek help
I can’t help but to respect this man! He works hard and has outsmarted the system
I don’t know if the reporter is trying to help or not. Calling the police and asking questions like that. Doesn’t seem like it. Much love and respect to this man for building this home with his bare hands and more importantly, EMPOWERING HIMSELF!!
Agreed. I didn't like any of the reporters.
The world would be a wonfderful place if we the good people took control of things. It's totally obvious that those who are the richest on the planet control everything and has done nothing for anyone else outside of their own family, friends and others who are as heartless and uncivilized as them. These news reporters are employed by the low life's I speak of and are put in the front to do the dirty work for the rich. It'exists
Since you such a righteous man, why don't you help the man move to your driveway.
@@thorrrr1962 You got to be stupid for a living hes not in a driveway wierdo
Considering this is Fox, where most of the reporters are held regardless of political affiliation... I would say he's probably not trying to help, but rather "expose" him. And that's annoying me. People love to mind other people's business, but only if it's a "problem" for them and not to offer any actual help to them.
I see a home. This man isn't homeless. He's just resourceful. Stop putting him down like you people are better than him. We are all just a set of bad circumstances away from being in the same boat. Difference is this man isn't putting up with it and just giving up. I am honestly proud as hell of him.
exactly
The news station is out here malding though
@@ideal2334 for real. Chick was like so he is just taking power from the city; he doesn’t pay a bill. Guy literally said he has generator.
Where do you think he shi*s?
He shouldn’t build it on a busy sidewalk though. There’s a bunch of other places he coulda built that
The news lady and the man with her think they humiliated him, when reality they made themselves look heartless. What a way to treat a veteran. I pray for him. The only acceptable comment she made was “he’s resourceful”
She even said that Condescending way
Fox repoters are so disgusting 🤮
way better than someone living in a tent where they can get hurt or they're exposed to the public and elements. dude has the right idea for his problem
That house is now worth $3.5M due to it’s location.
He probably AirBnB's it out.
No way it's that much. Probably 1.5 million at most.
@@lulub1433sad that this probably not far off 😂😂
🤣
Big brain move.
I like how he just ignores his co workers stupid questions
Exactly!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣!! Exactly. Does she know how a generator works..highly educated!??
They are all saying stupid stuff even him lol..
But he still called the police on the man. He is still a bad person.
she seemed obnoxious lol
Marla is a rude newscaster to say he was milking the city with his generator. I would be amazing if they hired newscasters that didn’t sound like they should be on a bad sitcom.
It’s people like you Marla that made me and so many of my fellow crew members to leave the film industry and Los Angeles. You and your Cali Government let this happen to Los Angeles. It’s a terrible thing what you allowed to happen to one of the coolest places to live and visit. It breaks our heart for these people that truly have no where or no one but to let it keep growing year after year and now everyone is addressing it. Sorry to sound like the Holiday Grinch but the media is part of the problem
What was your job in the film industry?
Masterfully put.
yes thet news team dont care there will be one check or medical bill or devorce and them news jounalist can also be homeless theres many people who were rich that are homeless
It doesn't even make sense. A generator makes electricity from fuel. Has nothing to do with power from the city
Well she hates the guy and doesn't even know him she's so disgusted for some reason
He's a vet give this man a piece of land he can fight for this country but can get a help
