I’m genuinely curious how? They might let you drive around but eventually you’ll have to update it. I was just a month late with mine and it nearly added up to 400$ so be careful because the cops might not do anything but the price to renew it might be ugly 😖

so you can break a law (i.e. not renewing your tag on time; yes I know it's ridiculously expensive in CA) without a consequence but can't purchase a firearm without paying overall 20% in taxes?
I think their should be a law that limits the amount of homes a person can own. Too many landlords controlling rent prices has helped create the homeless population.
thats a illegal 11% tax. as it is a penalty tax on top of all other taxes. next will be the poll tax. then a tax if you do not vote correctly as per the state. but as per the wording of the illegal tax. the money can and will be spent on “other” projects.
yeah, actually 11% + 11% + all the other BS fees. All illegal. Since they are the State, they get to make the laws. I have two properties and leave them vacant. The cost to (inevitably) evict tenants every few years negates any income made. Los Angeles is just plain hostile to landlords so I just keep them vacant and let them build equity without the headaches of being a landlord. I also don't give a flock about the homeless issue because Los Angeles will still punish you when even when you attempt a justifiable eviction! I remember back in the day (around Y2k), deposits used to be less than half the rent usually around $450-500 for an $1,100 apartment. They need to revert to that standard, but it's still progress.
Been apartment shopping recently… found out for people who may already be less fortunate and likely have a lower credit score.. some places have been requiring 2x months rent as just the security deposit! That’s in addition to first month/last month payments! And we wonder why more and more people cant afford basic housing!
It's a two pronged attack, coordinated by landlords. If you can't afford to move out, they can raise the rent high enough to make you choose between buying food to eat or gas for your car.

Yeah, my spouse got roofied at a concert, we think the drink was meant for me, though. That's the craziest I've ever seen him behave, and he had no memory of any of it the next morning. Just trying to get him home was an ordeal. He kept trying to get out of the car while it was moving. And yes, he felt like he'd been run over by a truck. I'm very glad they passed that law.

@beardoodle9835 dude, so we had to take the b.a.r.t. train home (it's like the subway train in the S.F. Bay area) and I split the drink w/ my manager. Whats the point of drug testing kits if crime is legal in California?
California law don’t make sense. The laws that make sense they do not enforce those.
Why do you sound so stupid? The point is so that people can make sure they aren’t being roofied
Crime is not legal. California literally has the highest incarceration rate? wtf do yall be talking about. When I was growing up there were 1000s of murders a year. There not even half of that now. The real criminals wear suits and ties

The one that got my attention is cops not pulling you over for expired reg tags if the month are due hasn’t passed. I’ve been riding dirty since 2022 lol.
I’m genuinely curious how? They might let you drive around but eventually you’ll have to update it. I was just a month late with mine and it nearly added up to 400$ so be careful because the cops might not do anything but the price to renew it might be ugly 😖
@@nostalgiataxi I'm mindful of keeping the fee paid. I haven't been able to get the tags updated due to the check engine light being on. Haven't been able to get the funds together to make the required repairs.

so you can break a law (i.e. not renewing your tag on time; yes I know it's ridiculously expensive in CA) without a consequence but can't purchase a firearm without paying overall 20% in taxes?
No, you get one month to fix it before it becomes a problem. What's wrong with that? Some people need a little extra time to save up and update it.
It’s 30😂
yeah, actually 11% + 11% + all the other BS fees. All illegal. Since they are the State, they get to make the laws. Then they are challenged, they lose in court over and over and over again, and they just appeal and appeal and appeal and appeal, forever. They can just write a new law every 5 minutes, but it takes 5-10 years to appeal.
You buy a $900 tool and you have to pay a $100 tax. There sure seems to be a LOT to profit off of violence…
Funny how the majority of our money is being directed on immeasurable and intangible things… we are getting so little actual goods and services for our taxes.

The only thing I have come to agree with in California is the month deposit law congratulations California. You finally got something right
I remember back in the day (around Y2k), deposits used to be less than half the rent usually around $450-500 for an $1,100 apartment. They need to revert to that standard, but it's still progress.
Does anyone know if the law regarding 1month security deposit has anything to do with the asking for income 3x the rent amount??
Two different issues and nothing to do with each other
That is another law they need. 3xs rent should be illegal. Should be twice the rent. 2.5 maximum like the standard 15 years ago.
