  • Here we are again, having survived the seasons celebrations, checking on a few comments from the Vlog, then braving the snow again whilst catching up, and finish in the garden on a steam train.
Home to the adventurous subscriber. As well as films we have a bi-weekly Vlog to keep up to date on the previous and next week’s videos, and a chance for all to air their views on a variety of subjects, why not join in.
My passion has been walking, a while ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and walking does not come naturally any more, however the more I walk the easier it gets, for now anyway. I hope these videos will inspire others to keep going and hanging on in there. I try to cover variety of subjects, such as old abandoned railways, and canals. I love the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, with its rich history and I usually take my camera whenever we holiday in the southwest and Cornwall. The rugged coastal paths are a magnet for anyone who loves dramatic scenery. I live close to the Cotswolds Hills and have done quite a lot of walking around there, recently, following some of the lovely rivers. Hill walking on the Malvern’s is a challenge but worth the effort. I try not to let Parkinson’s get me down and take every opportunity to get out with my camera and film, I hope you enjoy watching. P.W.

Happy 2024, Ron. Another enjoyable ‘matters arising’ , and that garden railway, what an absolute delight to behold. Beautifully filmed, as well. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Ron.

I can see why this video got so many views, Ron. What a wonderful little railway, and the birdsong! That song " birdsong at Eventide" is a particular favourite of my singing teacher! What a wonderful day out that must have been! Thanks for that, and a happy new year to you and family!

Good morning Ron! Another lovely vlog.
    Thank you for the mention.
Do you know I don't recall seeing your garden railway video before. Wow! A lot of views. Yes, with TH-cam it is always the ones you least expect that do the best - that's what I have found anyway.
Lovely music to accompany the tour of the garden railway - what a delight! Some fabulous scenes it.
Thanks so much and hope you have a great week.

I suspect that if you reviewed your various video offerings, the videos that rank up in the top with your viewers probably all include your wife! Everyone enjoys when your Missus joins the adventure. God Bless Her. Even though that 0-4-2T is a small engine, it is still extremely impressive. It is a fully operable boiler and those require extensive maintenance to keep them running. Those are the real deal. I suspect replacement parts are hard to come by. I do feel for the Driver. Although he is most likely the Owner, at his advanced age, it is no easy task squeezing into that small and low cab. My back was aching every time he got out and back in. More Power to Him! Thank You for the video, Ron.

Hello Ron - greetings from Poland.
There's nothing like a bit of nostalgia. I loved this video the first time I saw it on your channel. I'm sure all your contributors enjoy seeing Pauline in your different adventures. This steam visit must have been a real pleasure for you too I guess.
Back to matters arising, I'm always intrigued by all those photographs on the wall of your office, I bet every time you sit at your desk and look at them, memories come flooding back.

Fabulous Garden . Trust Ron to find, not just a garden Railway, but a Cornish themed Garden Railway😊 That looked like a lovely Few Hours well spent tho I couldn’t help wondering what type of Mower is used to to keep those Acres Tamed. Looking Forward to hearing the Summertime Birdsong again Soon. Many thanks 🙏🏻

Hi Ron. Nothing makes me happier than seeing you have a chuckle. I'll do my best...a bit difficult now though, back to reality on Monday. Still no snow here but we did get a partly sunny day after three weeks of cloud. I hope things are okay at your end, the Gloucestershire floods were covered on the news here tonight...hopefully some interesting videos might result? Take care Ron and have a good week.

Good morning Ron. It's easy to see why that film got thousands of views. Expertly shot and superb composition. I reckon you had more than one ride that day, judging by the fact that you were both on and off the train. I quite like these little garden or woodland railways. The one we travelled on in Beer and another at Exbury Gardens . Certain subjects appeal to the viewers and on of them is a train. (I've learnt that). My best performing video was of a local ploughing match, which had 111k views, plus another one I made at Newbury a few weeks previously. This one picked up 4.4K views. Another safe option are canals. Your correspondent whom you recommended for transport Secretary mentioned one or two things I hate on a train. People who have drunk too much. (Why is alcohol consumption allowed on a train anyway)? Those who have loud conversations on the mobile phone and worst of all, the ones who insist on putting their feet on the seats

Mornin' Ron, firstly, of course, Happy New Year!!
Wow, that is really is a garden railway ... It must be a vicarage surely!! The production on this was absolutely superb so many shots from different angles, Pauline looked like she was really enjoying herself too. No surprise to me that this one is so popular. I did enjoy the birdsong at the start too!!
I know you'll all be preparing to take down decorations tomorrow but down here the excitement is almost palpable for the children as they queue up to send their letters to the Three Kings. This evening there is the traditional procession of the Kings, a tradition observed from the smallest village to the largest city, sometimes you will see them on camels but often on elaborately decorated floats with lots of assistants throwing sweets out to the crowds lining the streets. It is a lot of fun. Then tomorrow, the 6th, is the day of the Kings when people exchange gifts. I've had a look at our tree and I can see that Nuria has been a good girl. We have a baffle plate over our chimney I expect mine are stuck up there somehow!!
Evesham revisited? .... I think you must be doing a feature length film for the BBC .....
    All the best!!

      @ParkinsonsWalks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hi David, thanks for the peek into local customs over there, sounds good and hopefully warmer than here to entice folk out. I don't think the baffle plate excuse is a runner, but it might turn you into one. Keep safe. Ron

@@ParkinsonsWalks Well Ron, if my pressies are behind the baffle plate they are well and truly toast now. Quite literally in fact, I've had the fire lit since first thing as winter arrives with vengeance. I can't remember the last time I did that. We've had a bit of sleet, the snow has laid very low down but still some way off us at the moment. So we are watching the procession on the telly the one in the city has been shortened. Not sure what happened with the one in our village I saw it leave but then it started raining!!
To cap it all Nuria has just tested positive for COVID but with cold like symptoms.
I've seen on the news the floods in the UK, I see the level at Haw Bridge is very high 5.75m. Hope you are alright

Oh what absolute joy this morning to watch this happy beautifully filmed video after hearing on the news about the misery of all these poor people flooded at the moment and the last four nights on tv with the emotional drama of Mr Bates v The Post Office and the people still fighting for their rightful restitution. Thank you so much for making me smile and jiggle to the Seekers in my chair. The cat was looking at me very askance. Long live Parkinson’s Walks and Christine too. And all supportive wives!
