The whole Dream thing always makes me laugh, because the luck required reaches literal theoretical levels of statistics, but because its technically NOT ZERO and because how our brains work (We can't imagine anything over like 20k or something?) you had people going "Well its TECHNICALLY possible"
Seeing Dream with a woman of legal age technically isn't impossible either, but...
I'll admit my kneejerk reaction to someone using statistics to prove someone is cheating is to assume they're lying, because statistics are usually used to fool and beguile people. It was a novel experience to discover statistics being used properly for change. :P

As someone who mods Minecraft a lot, I find it very unlikely that Dream didn't know he had loaded a mod to increase pearl drops. Not only would he have to open the Minecraft profile that specifically is labeled as modded, but there's also a big old button that says "Mods" so you can see which mods you have loaded.

100%. I watched another speedrunner (SmallAnt I think?) play a modded version that copied the drop rates Dream was using. He said it was a completely different experience, and just stupid how easy it was with the extra blaze rods and pearls. And he's not even a big Minecraft speedrunner either, he only plays casually. A top-tier speedrunner like Dream, with 1000's of hours of time in game, would absolutely notice the difference. One run may be lucky, two would start to be suspicious, but six? He would've had alarm bells going off in his head.
I don’t know about bedrock but on Java, you get an annoying ⚠️ mark next to any modded version you play, including Optifine. It’s very noticeable.

A thing that no one talks about is that he ran offline too during his cheated streams, and he was adamant that his offline runs had normal luck. So he happened to have the mod active on his online runs but somehow never had it in his offline runs? Or he didn't notice for 6 streams and many hours of offline running that he had the mod. Sure.
I don't think there's anything about Dream's general behaviour online that would make me think he wouldn't lie about all these things while knowing he cheated. At the very least the guy has a massive ego, so it's not out of line for him to protect that at all costs.
Yeah, to me its - He was struggling with drop rates, so he used a mod to improve his drop rates, got called out, figured he could get away with it since there werent any solid proof, cherry picked information for his side of the arguement, and then when it still didnt turn around for him and go away, he figured he'd just say "ohhhh, well, I didn't realise, i didnt install it, excuses excuses".
Also like.... This guy does work for Dream's minecraft servers, but is unaware of the massive Dream Minecraft scandal thats happening over the course of months?
exactly, nevermind the fact that even in his apology, he's blaming the developer he hired for adding "illegal" mods on his client-side when its very unlikely that they'd do that without him knowing. the fact that initially his mod folder was conveniently deleted so it couldn't be handed in to the moderators for investigation means he had to have known he had client-side stuff that was affecting drop rates
Also, the behavior as he got accused was incredibly suspicious as well. Him refusing to do standard investigation protocol despite the fact that it would easily exonerate him and all that

Love that tnt bit at the beginning. I legit thought my speakers died. I don't usually care about speedruns, but any video from you, or any video of someone roasting Dream, I will gladly stick around for. Combining the two should make for a masterpiece, and I wasn't disappointed. It sucks that the guy that blew the whistle on Dream turned out to be a cheater too. It's always the those who seem the most noble who turn out to be the biggest hypocrites.

Speedrunning is cool in concept but glitched runs aren’t impressive or interesting imo. Just an outsider perspective.
Not really a fan of the way Dream handled his scandal. He threw most of his critics under the bus (especially Geosquare & the rest of the mod team). He said that he wasn't aware his Luck Mod was active, but I don't really buy that. Dream has a history of telling others he wasn't aware of something, only for there to be concrete evidence to the contrary.
To his credit, he did answer most questions ppl had & even told content creators who the astrophysicist was (myself included)--but that was really only part of his façade and doesn't begin to make up for the rest of the situation.
I do genuinely believe the he thought he wasn't cheating for a good chunk of this ordeal, for me the real conspiracy is at what point did he realise he had the mod installed and whether or not he doubled down. Like I mentioned in the video (and Karl mentioned in his), there would be psychopathic levels of delusion to believe you could get away with lying about not cheating while knowing you were. The Astrophysicist even told Dream that he would publish the findings of their report even if it proved Dream was cheating, and he still went along with it. Again, he might've believed he could outsmart the astrophysicist but idk Minecraft TH-camr vs Harvard PHD is like coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb. But yes, I agree wither way, the way he handled the situation was exceptionally poor.
@@ManyKudos I believe Dream submitted his minecraft folder to speedrun moderators for inspection. Having a modding developer work on your stuff would be natural for a content creator like him, but submitting the clean version twice? He must have known almost immediately.
My main problem is the way he handled the accusations. If he had simply remained calm and amicable it would be likely that the issue would be resolved pretty quickly. The mod would be discovered, dream could explain he didn't know about it because of content creator shenanigans, and he'd likely be let off with a slap on the wrist at most. Instead he was immediately aggressive and weaponised his fan base against the mods, who despite having power over his run submission were much less powerful when it comes to internet popularity.
It's a running issue with dream from what I've seen, he's not good at staying calm or reasonable in the face of accusations. He almost always goes on the offensive which is almost always the wrong move in these situations, rewarding accusations that were quickly made up for attention or encouraging harassment towards well meaning people.
He reacts first and thinks much later and it creates so many unnecessary issues and conflicts.

I don't like him either and im not caught up on all the drama and allegations, but with some stuff it does seem like the pressure is too much and hes well... not that smart so he just digs himself deeper and deeper into a hole.

Dream's reaction to the cheating accusation (lie, double down, gaslight, take absolutely no responsibility, get his fans to harass everyone) doesn't bode well. It is textbook narcissism and manipulative behaviour. If he's ever accused of a serious crime (grooming, SA, etc), that will be his same playbook. If he can't even admit to cheating in something so insignificant in the face of immeasurable proof, do you really think he wouldnt do the same if people spoke out against him doing something actually morally evil or illegal? He wouldn't ever take responsibility or admit fault and his rabid fans would believe him to death.

12:45 I am sure that someone already said about it, but in order to play with mods you need to:
1. Install specific forge(or fabric) version.
2. Open the modified version in the launcher, so it will be fully installed.
3. Download the mod.
4. Put the mod into the mod folder.
5. Open the modified version in the launcher again.
And even then, forge has a *loading screen* , where you can see *progress of loading* .
And even if you somehow missed *ALL* of that, main menu has mods button if you're playing modded version.

The astrophysicist said that there was strong evidence that dream had cheated, I think the person he hired must’ve been mostly legit but was embarrassed. The astrophysicist did also say it was theoretically possible he didn’t cheat but that’s kinda a technicality

There are seeds that can spawn completed end portals, but theyre all outside of the pool that the random seed generator can call from.

I think in general whats bad about this kind of stuff is that cheating in these kinds of things only encourages behavior like this more to happen, and people with actual merit who spent years actually devoting their time to working hard on their runs dont get enough attention as a result, it will get to the point where its more interesting to call out cheated speedruns then it is to watch actual speedruns

4:10 there has actually been one seed found where the end portal spawned with all 12 eyes in it but That was in an earlier update I think caves and cliffs so the world that has the full portal is gone now. Multiple Minecraft TH-camrs actually tried the world and confirmed it was true before the new update broke it
Flowbees case is still one of the most interesting ones as he faked a run because he wanted to impress a girl he liked

It's not full of scandals but you should do a video on Hitman speedrunning. Its full of insane and funny strategies, from using one bomb's explosion to send another bomb flying onto a roof to using blueberry muffins to get to places they normally shouldn't.
