1. Fiba rules is a must, it is just so boring to see good players not get credit for their great defensive capabilities (at the point where they won't even try to stop someone so we just see a back and forth 3s shootout) 2. Do something about the length of the game, it has become a chore to see a 1min shot clock game last 20mins of real time adding to it the timeouts, fouls (and the time till they actually start with their FT) 3. Make a VAR style reviewing system like in football where the ref doesn't lose time reviewing and getting the wrong calls plus it'd be much quicker This would actually sky rocket the viewership and not make the games feel like hard to watch
Plus for us international fans it would be great if the weekend games that started early actually start from friday, so a 3 day early game NBA schedule would be really nice
Naahh! The sweet idea would be make maximum 3pt shots 40 per team! Regulated like the time outs a team can have. Each team gets 40 and decides how they distribute them on each Quarter. You are spot on with the travels not being called. The refs not calling the games clear enough and it looks like they are influenced by gambling. It looks bad
A lot of the problems can be attributed to the refs. Either they call bs foul calls or they don't call obvious violations. The league needs to tighten that up
Just like that rule of 3 seconds in the paint, they don't call it all the times it happens. The biggest problems of the refs is the lack of consistence on the calls.
they are influenced by "deep state" running the NBA consisting of quasi Elites (some coaches players agents media...) Fans see that show is run by Mafia caring only to take away money, and that the sport is in second plan, and it is disgusting. Fans are not stupid to waste time and pay for that shit.

The different court to benefit the home teams' playstyle is a genius idea. This will require players to be VERY creative and really use their fringe parts of a roster.
Yea I LOVE that idea! It actually gives home team an advantage for once, you know given that they would tailor the court to what their players are best at. If teams could have control of the 3pt line and the size of the paint, it would be so interesting to watch teams play in different arenas. Teams with defensive shot blocking bigs like gobert and wemby could shrink the painted area so that their defensive anchors are closer to the basket. Teams like the Celtics could stretch the 3pt line to where any other team wouldn't dare shoot
Too chaotic. I've never seen anything like this anywhere. It's one thing to have Denver's elevation consistently, it's another to constantly change random stuff from game to game. Horrible

Move the normal 3 pointer back about 2 feet and eliminate the corner 3. Also get rid of defensive 3 seconds, clean house with the refs, and bring back hand checking

No. Narrow the lane. Get rid of defensive 3 seconds. Do a few things to get the big guys back in the game. 4 pointers and other stuff like that will kill the game that has already been damaged.
No 3 second violation sounds like the worst idea ever I’m sorry, to combat the already abundance of 3’s, you want to mathematically further make the 3 more valuable than the best shot in basketball which is the layup?? Defensive 3 seconds makes no sense, it’ll push more 3’s than ever
0:55 This narrative is totally wrong. Teams dont play modern type of basketball because its better. They play it because they want to avoid their stars from getting injured. Its all about money in the end. And theres a lot of money to be saved and to be made by playing terrible basketball.

Limiting the number of 3-pointers per game would force teams to use them more strategically, focusing on mid-range and paint play early, saving 3s for key moments. It’d also cut down on fast-break players settling for 3s instead of taking easy layups.
@@VinceLyle2161 That's a tough one. The league really needs to consider how the new changes will impact how teams are built and which ones will become stronger or weaker. Take Dallas, for example. They signed Klay Thompson for $50 million, but if the game shifts away from the 3-point heavy style, they could be in trouble since Klay’s primarily a spot-up shooter and there would be less floor spacing. Similarly, teams like the Timberwolves, who will be heavily reliant on players like Rudy Gobert, might see a drop-off. What once looked like a potential conference finalist could easily find themselves struggling to even make the play-in tournament.
@@BestxBelieve Good points. What about twenty? That's ten per half per team. You'd see coaches calling plays for them. They could be rally-killers, nails in the coffin, etc. It would be better if 3 pointers were back to being strategic weapons, the way Larry Bird used them. Or psychological warfare, also like Larry Bird used them.

Give more leniency to defence than it is rn, get rid of goaltending, put the 3 point line further back so the percentages go down, get rid of taunting Techs, get rid of the play in, instead of 5 second violations and give it 7 or 8 seconds. If you score off a steal, two pointers get an extra point, 2) a block subtracts a point 3) a 3 pointer becomes only worth two points unless contested or shootee creates his own separation *uncontested 3s only worth 3 points past 33-35 feet(Call it the Curry Rule) 4) deflections out of bounds gets called as jump ball 5) alley oops in clutch time (last 1.5 minutes in each half woth 3 5) Healthy load managed players have to come off bench the next 2-3 games until 2nd half after return from absence (you screw the fans you disadvantage your teams standings)

I really think better officiating would do wonders. A huge benefit people don’t talk about is the fact when you drive, if you’re a star in the league you’re most likely getting a call so the game stops, you get an and 1 or free throw opportunity. The contact or lack of contact is so freaking frustrating. However, I’m a suns fan and I see Book, Beal, KD (few of the last mid range guys) fight through contact on midrange shots and get no calls. I’m starting to get frustrated at them for taking that shot because they can get hit and throw off the shot with no call
They need to start with getting rid of defensive 3 seconds and also telling refs to call less fouls. Do the obvious stuff before getting crazy with rule changes that just make the game seem like a gimmick.
Get rid of the corner 3. That stops 5 out offenses. Then make the all-star game World vs USA. You can take it a step farther. Make the winning team the NBA all-stars and the losing team is just conference all-stars. Thus the winning team is the only one who qualifies for the supermax.

As a european thats been watching both NBA and european competitions the biggest thing that ruins the NBA is reffere inconsistencies and blatant score fixing to keep matches as close as posible till clutch time, it doesent make regural season games apealing to me at all and its even creeping into the playoffs, no wonder ratings are down people started to realise they are watching reality tv instead of sports.
My ideas are drastic but i think they would work Regular season wins earn points and decide playoff seeding. 4 games against each team in division and 2 against everyone else (with 32 teams that would be 66 games total, more rest for players so they play a higher percentage of games and less filler games that drag out the season for the fans) Each win is 3 points. +1 point against conference opponents. +2 against division opponents. Losses dont add or subtract points. In season tournament is 6 games to decide seeding (2 games vs each team in division, so high points at stake.). Then single elimination playoff of every winner in each division where the nba cup winner gets the “crown”. Crown holder gets +1 extra point for every win and teams that beat the crown holder get an extra point. This incentivizes teams to win the tournament as it affects playoff seeding. They also get the massive cash payout too. This would brew rivalries and put more stakes on games and can be advertised as such (this PLATINUM TIER game has 6 points on the line) All star game should lean into fun rotating formats to experiment with weird rules to see how they work out. 4 pt line. Missed 3s subtract a point. Fiba rules. Every 3 made pushes the line further back with LED court, Defensive stops subtracting a point etc. If not that, then the winner of the game awards their conference +1 extra points per win vs opposing conference which would help decide home court advantage in the finals. Winner of nba finals gets takes the crown and starts next season with it.
The real issue with the NBA is that there are way too many meaningless games. Baseball has a ton of games but only have 12 playoffs teams. Meaningless games = uninterested Players = Load Management = Intentional Ejections. All the problems eventually boils down to players only caring in the playoffs and literally everyone makes the playoffs or play in games in the NBA. Only 6 teams from each conference makes the playoffs, top 2 teams get first round bye...then you'll see real change.
Lmao at the Substitution one. Imagine if Steph is having a beef with somebody, then suddenly he tags Draymond from the bench and he does a clothesline to the the player 💀💀
The problem that is often overlooked with shooting all of these three-pointers is that let's say for example, a team went 14 of 40. Out of those 26 misses 10 to 15. Of them were easy two-point field goals that were passed up for a worse percentage 3 point attempt
What you fail to understand, shooting those less efficient 3s is actually good on a meta game perspective, ie: stretch the floor + conditionning defenses
3 pointers stretch the defense. If ball 5 guys can shoot the three their gravity alone opens up the floor. The math says that 3 pointers provide more points per possession than 2s unless you’re an elite inside scorer
1) let players be more expressive and passionate 2) punish players for losing or performing poorly we have to make the players care about the game and not act like they are just there for a paycheck to start their own podcasts
Reading all the comments just show 90% of "fans" these days are casuals and kids that say dumb stuff. Casey included but he says dumb stuff all the time.
I think the nba needs to do something to speed up the game at the end. I’ve seen waaaay too many games have 1:30 left in the clock that I end up watching for 30 minutes. Easily the worst watching experience. As opposed to those games where both teams have no timeouts and there’s 30 seconds left and nobody wants to foul cause it’s a 1 possession game, it’s absolutely the most exciting thing to watch
No one is mentioning the Majority of Late game situations are killed ever since they Foul up 3 with seconds left, This always Kills the best part of the game, ever since Jj and Lebron mentioned to do this on podcast its become an annoying thing done now this season, It kills what the game lives for those buzzer beater moments
To make the Nba more watchable is easy. Take away power from players and give it to coaches. Make the players sweat for their money instead of missing so many games. more physicality allowed in rules would actually improve perimeter defense and therefore decrease importance of 3s

I don’t know why this hasn’t mentioned yet, but here’s my idea: Cap the amount of 3’s teams can attempt in a game. I don’t know what the right cap would be, but if it were, say, 32 (8 per quarter max) then teams would have to strategize more. That would also bring back actual strategy and team-oriented basketball. I mean, if they aren’t going to play defense, capping 3’s might be the next best bet.
I think it would be better to cap the amount they can make per quarter rather than take. And that the next three made above the cap actually just counts as a 2.
So one of the biggest problems with the game today - according to most people - is that the players are shooting too many threes. And the answer to that is to create a 4pt line? Make it make sense

@ so you want to place a limitation on how many threes you can take per game as an official rule and you want the refs to manage when they can and can’t take them? I don’t think problem solving is your specialty.
@HllywoodNova I know I'm Jesus H. Fcukng Christ and I'm spreading the Gospel of this around the world. See you are now saved you saw the word of the lord. Stay blessed! ✋
The viewership isn’t down. The only problem is that they can’t count viewers that watch the game through streams or other undocumented ways. The solution would be to stop charging people and arm and leg to watch and support their favorite team. Even with the NBA League pass being as expensive as it is…. Your home team games are blocked out.
1. Increase active players to 6 per team instead of 5. 2. Extend the court dimensions with variable min/max sizes to give home teams a strategic advantage, similar to soccer. 3. Reduce playoff spots from 10 to 6 or 8 to increase competition and discourage coasting through the season. 4. Schedule NBA games only on weekends; too many midweek games dilute quality. 5. Hold NBA Cup games separately on weekdays, outside regular-season matches. The NBA should take cues from European soccer's structure and strategy.
People love to claim there's no defense in this era. Funny I don't remember having to guard anyone 40 feet from the basket in the 90s. I think there needs to be a line behind the 3 point line that decreases the value back to 2.

If you change the scoring of 2 and 3 points, then you also have to change the scoring from the line where the first shot is one point and the second shot is two points
The reason why there's so many points is because offense has evolved to the point that the defense cant keep up thanks to the rules. To keep up with the offense, the rules should allow defense to be able to stop said offense. 1. CALL ILLEGAL SCREENS - the amount of illegal screens not being called is stupid. This will help lessen the amount of not just 3pters but points in general 2. Allow more physical off ball and on ball defense - bring back hand checking - If someone wants to get to a good position inside before receiving the ball, they have to fight for position inside by boxing out their opponent. 3. Less Fouls - defenders should be allowed to block a player's path if they do not have the ball. - if your block merely touches the shooter's hand, it's not a foul. Only call it if its the arm or body. - STOP CALLING TECHNICAL FOULS. As a ref, its part of your job to IGNORE/DEAL WITH THE COMPLAINING THE PLAYERS DO. only start calling technicals if they become so aggressive like running at you or if they touch you (holding, blocking your way, etc.) The FIBA rules that allow defenders to camp the paint is also pretty good. Add that with better on -ball and off-ball defense and the nba will be more competitive again.
The way fantasy awards players 3 points for a steal or block should be applied to today’s NBA. It will emphasize defensive natured players and will change the way offences would be executed to avoid interceptions during careless ball movement. Ultimately it would slow the game down and would keep the audiences attention for longer spans. Essentially a team would lose 3 points for having a shot blocked or a possession stolen. The counting stats for steals and blocks would accumulate the same way in the box score.
I think an interesting change would be that teams are only allowed to take a certain number of 3’s per game like 35. Which is plenty but especially in clutch game situations 3’s might need to be conserved for absolutely essential situations instead of being free to chuck up whenever. Another one I heard and found interesting was if your team misses a certain amount of 3’s in a row, like 3-4 and your team actually loses points like 1-2
The interior paint could be smaller but if a player scores inside that paint its 3pointer . Just to counter high volume 3pts. So that we can see more fastbreaks and post seals.
Interesting ideas! Cool video. I like this combo: Draw your own three point lane, put the hand checks back in, and three points for a dunk. I’m not down with the 4-pointer either though.
Add a 1 pt line within 5 ft from the basket for example. Now all shot are worth about the same when you account for percentages. You get your jump shots back, and each team can play a unique style of offense given their team strengths.
Most people get paid by the hour but then get paid by the minute every minute they ain't playing every minute they're losing money see how bad it won't play then😂
Bad idea it would give more power to referees to determine who wins. Hand checking is not allowed in FIBA rules FIBA Official Basketball rules If contact caused by a player in any way restricts the freedom of movement of an opponent, such contact is a foul. Illegal use of the hand(s) or extended arm(s) occurs when the defensive player is in a guarding position and his/her hand(s) or arm(s) is placed upon and remains in contact with an opponent with or without the ball, to impede his/her progress. To repeatedly touch or 'jab' an opponent with or without the ball is a foul, as it may lead to rough play.
1. Allow more physical defense and allow incidental defensive contact if it doesn't affect the shot 2. Aggressive technicals for even minimal flopping 3. Aggressive travel and carry violations 4. Purposeful fouls are also technical fouls (stop prolonging end of games with boring free-throws) And off the court rules: 1. Player contracts must have a per game clause, you don't play you don't get paid, with limited PTO for sick and rest days 2. A referree representative must be interviewed at end of games 3. Contracts have to have a penalty for initiating trades (if the player asks for a trade, part of their salary is non-garanteed. if a team initiated the trade for their player, they have to pay the difference non-garanteed amount to the player)
Dude... A dunk for 3 points is actually the most amazing idea I've ever heard to help change/improve the game. Also, every team having their own unique court like MLB would also be FREAKIN AWESOME!!! That would be insane!
Agree with realistic rules like FIBA. Less realistic : -allow defending teams to get the reboud and counter attack on a missed free throw (at least on the second ft if it's a foul on a 3 point). -Perhaps bring back some more value to midrange by adding bonus points, as 1 extra point for 2 midrange baskets made in a raw.
I've always thought overtime should be like pens in football, starting 5 take three throws and then if both teams make all 5 you start getting subs and reserves taking them until someone misses. Would be so tense
Allow only one corner to have the 3 point line and each team decides which side it is. This makes it much easier to defend that one corner and you can ignore the other corner.
Two rule changes to consider: 1. Ban free throws. Are boring and take too much time. Instead, sideline the fouler and play 5c4 like handball, until a shot is thrown. 2. Sets instead of continued score. The team that wins 4 sets of 25 points or so (best to seven) wins the game.
Get rid of corner 3. Get rid of gather step. Make flopping a technical. Eradicate load management. Limit three pointers to within three feet of the arc.
FIBA style rules and better refs would already be a huuuuge improvement over what we have now. Then we'd may have to find a way to make the game more diverse and less 3pt centered, I guess removing corner 3s are a realistic idea. Extending the line to the sideline is better than widening the floor in my opinion, because making the floor even bigger would make defense even harder.
Here are some rules that would make a difference: 1. No fouling out of games. Who cares if a guy has ten fouls? A foul is a foul is a foul. A guy with 8 fouls isn't suddenly going to start tackling players. He's going to play like he always does. If he fouls, the other team will get free-throws. As it stands, how many times have we been robbed of a huge game when a star player "gets in early foul trouble" and has to go to the bench? Why would we let a ref's whistle determine who plays in the biggest games? Shouldn't the best players be playing all the time? Get rid of fouling out. For that matter, whoever came up with this ridiculous rule? 2. Only the person holding the ball can call a timeout. No more committee of coaches on the sidelines holding clipboards calling timeout. It's up to the player who has the ball to call timeout. This would create more drama, which is a good thing. 3. Which leads to the next rule . . . a timeout can only be called when there is no defensive pressure being applied. Gone are the days of a guy getting trapped in the corner, then calling timeout. We don't let quarterback call timeout when a lineback blitzes. Why penalize an NBA team's good defense by letting a guy call timeout when in trouble? If pressure is being applied, you have to play your way out of the situation. This is equally true when a team is trying to inbound the ball. If the defense is applying full-court defense to steal the inbounds pass, the player passing the ball in can no longer escape by caling timeout. He must get the ball in play. Again, we're letting the players on the court decide the game, not the scholarly coaches. 4. Referees cannot eject a player from the game unless a player commits an act of physical violence (such as an actual punch or an assault). No ejections for back-talking. This way, the refs lose a lot of power. The league is certainly allowed to suspend or discipline a player who abuses this right, but the refs no longer can toss a guy because he says something the ref doesn't like. 5. Technical fouls are eliminated completely, except for violent fouls. A referee cannot give out a technical foul because the coach said something about his momma, or a player makes a snide remark. Gone are the days of Chris Paul getting teed-up by a ref who is overly-sensitive. 6. No timeouts in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter. Let the players figure it out what to do at the end of the game. This prevents the endless sessions of coaches drawing up plays at the end of the game. Also, it allows for continuous play. 7. If a player is fouled in a non-shooting situation, the team can decline the free-throws and select to be given a free inbounds pass, if they choose. In this situation, it would be like a fair-catch. The defense would have to give the player receiving the inbounds pass a five-foot cushion. The 24-second clock would be reset. This causes more time to burn off the clock, and prevents the opposing team fouling the weakest free-throw shooter. It also prevents the end-of-the-game free-throw-a-thon. But what if a team is down by 4 with 12 seconds left? They must steal the ball, or lose. Simple as that.

1. Fiba rules is a must, it is just so boring to see good players not get credit for their great defensive capabilities (at the point where they won't even try to stop someone so we just see a back and forth 3s shootout)
2. Do something about the length of the game, it has become a chore to see a 1min shot clock game last 20mins of real time adding to it the timeouts, fouls (and the time till they actually start with their FT)
3. Make a VAR style reviewing system like in football where the ref doesn't lose time reviewing and getting the wrong calls plus it'd be much quicker
This would actually sky rocket the viewership and not make the games feel like hard to watch
Plus for us international fans it would be great if the weekend games that started early actually start from friday, so a 3 day early game NBA schedule would be really nice

This is the #1 problem. You don’t need to change the entire game of basketball to solve the problem.
Elimínate the damn refs
A lot of the problems can be attributed to the refs. Either they call bs foul calls or they don't call obvious violations. The league needs to tighten that up
Just like that rule of 3 seconds in the paint, they don't call it all the times it happens. The biggest problems of the refs is the lack of consistence on the calls.

Limiting the number of 3-pointers per game would force teams to use them more strategically, focusing on mid-range and paint play early, saving 3s for key moments. It’d also cut down on fast-break players settling for 3s instead of taking easy layups.
I love it. What's your number for 3's per game?
@@VinceLyle2161 That's a tough one. The league really needs to consider how the new changes will impact how teams are built and which ones will become stronger or weaker. Take Dallas, for example. They signed Klay Thompson for $50 million, but if the game shifts away from the 3-point heavy style, they could be in trouble since Klay’s primarily a spot-up shooter and there would be less floor spacing. Similarly, teams like the Timberwolves, who will be heavily reliant on players like Rudy Gobert, might see a drop-off.

My ideas are drastic but i think they would work
Regular season wins earn points and decide playoff seeding.
4 games against each team in division and 2 against everyone else (with 32 teams that would be 66 games total, more rest for players so they play a higher percentage of games and less filler games that drag out the season for the fans)
Each win is 3 points.
This would brew rivalries and put more stakes on games and can be advertised as such (this PLATINUM TIER game has 6 points on the line)
All star game should lean into fun rotating formats to experiment with weird rules to see how they work out.
Interesting idea!
1) let players be more expressive and passionate
2) punish players for losing or performing poorly
we have to make the players care about the game and not act like they are just there for a paycheck to start their own podcasts
Reading all the comments just show 90% of "fans" these days are casuals and kids that say dumb stuff. Casey included but he says dumb stuff all the time.
What about every Miss 3 pointer is a -1
Good idea !!
Kinda like the teams make their own 3 point line idea…..it is somewhat similar to baseball parks
Great video. No one wants to disrupt the game in an extreme way, but something needs to change.
100%
No one is mentioning the Majority of Late game situations are killed ever since they Foul up 3 with seconds left, This always Kills the best part of the game, ever since Jj and Lebron mentioned to do this on podcast its become an annoying thing done now this season, It kills what the game lives for those buzzer beater moments
@ intentional fouls at the end of the game should be a tech in my opinion. automatics free throws and the ball back. I think that might stop it
To make the Nba more watchable is easy. Take away power from players and give it to coaches. Make the players sweat for their money instead of missing so many games. more physicality allowed in rules would actually improve perimeter defense and therefore decrease importance of 3s
About the video:

2. *No to 3pt dunk*
3. *No to one-on-one scrimmage* instead of overtime games.. (although it is _really_ interesting,.. maybe implement it during the in-season tournament, or maybe all-star games, but not during other regular games, and definitely not during playoff games)
On defense:
4. *Reward good defense.* No ridiculous touch foul calls
5. Penalize moving *(illegal) screen*
6. Penalize *defensive 3 sec* violation
On offense:
7. James Harden rule #1. *Penalize flopping* and foul hunting, monetarily and with games suspension
8. James Harden rule #2. *Penalize offensive arm locks,* monetarily and with games suspension
9. Dwayne Wade rule. Penalize offensive player that tries to *undercut a defensive player* after a fake shot
10. *Penalize travelling and double dribbles,* using 80's-90's definition of travelling and double dribbles
11. *Penalize offensive 3 sec* violations
On player accountability:
12. *Retract the supermax..*
→can't retain a good team anymore, bec 1/3 of the roster money is just on few players that more often than not regresses in gameplay
→the Supermax was supposed to reward stars loyal to the teams, yet they leave anyway.
→ all other problems will be solved by retracting the supermax: which are.. luxury tax ceiling and first and second aprons
13. -Supermax- Maximum contract for players should be *guaranteed ONLY if they stay with the team;*
→ -supermax- maximum contract should be non guaranteed, should revert to low contract *if player demands a trade,*
→ Ben Simmons rule. -supermax- maximum contract should be conditional; should be nullified for those who refuse to play.
→ Zion Williamson rule. -supermax- maximum contract should be conditional to force players into competitive form
14. Should be Maximum Bonus instead of supermax. Getting rewarded for winning instead of guarantee for nothing accomplished. 🤷
15. Grant Hill rule. Better player injury diagnosis. Not that players only realize their injuries during mandatory checkups during trades
16. Ja Morant rule. -Penalize players- Penalize 'thugs' or wannabes
17. No politics. Fans pays for players, not players paying the fans. Players should know their place, should respect their viewers, should know how to act like professionals
On officials' accountability:
18. Joe Crawford rule. Penalize power tripping officials. (Always getting away with bad calls)
19. Investigate and penalize gambling officials.. (the way they are calling is too suspicious..) they could gamble if it's not NBA games.
On All Star Weekend:
20. Penalize ridiculousness of slam dunk judges. (Judges ruined the dunk contest since 2000's.)
21. Make all-star games competitive. (80's and 90's style)
22. Bring back East vs. West rivalry

"Whoever shoots the Most 3's is Gay"
That would make Steph shoot more 3s
I don’t know why this hasn’t mentioned yet, but here’s my idea: Cap the amount of 3’s teams can attempt in a game. I don’t know what the right cap would be, but if it were, say, 32 (8 per quarter max) then teams would have to strategize more. That would also bring back actual strategy and team-oriented basketball. I mean, if they aren’t going to play defense, capping 3’s might be the next best bet.
I think it would be better to cap the amount they can make per quarter rather than take. And that the next three made above the cap actually just counts as a 2.
I don't like limiting the game like this
So one of the biggest problems with the game today - according to most people - is that the players are shooting too many threes. And the answer to that is to create a 4pt line? Make it make sense

Love the way you painted a good night gambling with the fam 💯

Well, in the Philippines... 4 point shot is already in action... Analyst says here that it spreads the court more for chances to go inside...
1. CALL ILLEGAL SCREENS
- the amount of illegal screens not being called is stupid. This will help lessen the amount of not just 3pters but points in general
2. Allow more physical off ball and on ball defense
- bring back hand checking
- If someone wants to get to a good position inside before receiving the ball, they have to fight for position inside by boxing out their opponent.
3. Less Fouls
- defenders should be allowed to block a player's path if they do not have the ball.
- if your block merely touches the shooter's hand, it's not a foul. Only call it if its the arm or body.
- STOP CALLING TECHNICAL FOULS. As a ref, its part of your job to IGNORE/DEAL WITH THE COMPLAINING THE PLAYERS DO.
only start calling technicals if they become so aggressive like running at you or if they touch you (holding, blocking your way, etc.)
The FIBA rules that allow defenders to camp the paint is also pretty good. Add that with better on -ball and off-ball defense and the nba will be more competitive again.
Removing the corner 3 sounds good to me, nice video 👍👍
The way fantasy awards players 3 points for a steal or block should be applied to today’s NBA. It will emphasize defensive natured players and will change the way offences would be executed to avoid interceptions during careless ball movement. Ultimately it would slow the game down and would keep the audiences attention for longer spans.
Essentially a team would lose 3 points for having a shot blocked or a possession stolen. The counting stats for steals and blocks would accumulate the same way in the box score.
Interesting ideas! Cool video.
I’m not down with the 4-pointer either though.
I think an interesting change would be that teams are only allowed to take a certain number of 3’s per game like 35. Which is plenty but especially in clutch game situations 3’s might need to be conserved for absolutely essential situations instead of being free to chuck up whenever.
Another one I heard and found interesting was if your team misses a certain amount of 3’s in a row, like 3-4 and your team actually loses points like 1-2
Corner threes are harder to hit because you don't have the backboard to either bounce off, or to use as a reference point when you take the throw.
The interior paint could be smaller but if a player scores inside that paint its 3pointer . Just to counter high volume 3pts. So that we can see more fastbreaks and post seals.
Interesting ideas! Cool video.
I like this combo:
Draw your own three point lane, put the hand checks back in, and three points for a dunk.
I’m not down with the 4-pointer either though.
There is no such thing as an illegal defense and the comparison to outfield walls would make athletes become more valuable. I love these ideas.
Add a 1 pt line within 5 ft from the basket for example. Now all shot are worth about the same when you account for percentages. You get your jump shots back, and each team can play a unique style of offense given their team strengths.
So no more layups and dunks?
1pt is a 50% decrease. Nobody would go for them
Most people get paid by the hour but then get paid by the minute every minute they ain't playing every minute they're losing money see how bad it won't play then😂
4 points for shots in ur own half
Another amazing video thank u for ur amazing content bro it's awesome keep going❤
Great video for great ideas!!
1. Two of the FIBA rules: hand-checking and defensive seconds
2. One or two less timeouts
Bad idea it would give more power to referees to determine who wins.
Hand checking is not allowed in FIBA rules
FIBA Official Basketball rules
If contact caused by a player in any way restricts the freedom of
movement of an opponent, such contact is a foul.
Illegal use of the hand(s) or extended arm(s) occurs when the defensive player is in
a guarding position and his/her hand(s) or arm(s) is placed upon and remains in
contact with an opponent with or without the ball, to impede his/her progress.
To repeatedly touch or 'jab' an opponent with or without the ball is a foul, as it may
lead to rough play.
Do mid range shots even exist anymore?
1. Allow more physical defense and allow incidental defensive contact if it doesn't affect the shot
2. Aggressive technicals for even minimal flopping
3. Aggressive travel and carry violations
4. Purposeful fouls are also technical fouls (stop prolonging end of games with boring free-throws)
And off the court rules:
1. Player contracts must have a per game clause, you don't play you don't get paid, with limited PTO for sick and rest days
2. A referree representative must be interviewed at end of games
3. Contracts have to have a penalty for initiating trades (if the player asks for a trade, part of their salary is non-garanteed. if a team initiated the trade for their player, they have to pay the difference non-garanteed amount to the player)
"So like in San Antionio... they don't even have a 3-Point-Line! Bring it back to the 1960s!" :-D Made my day!!!
You know it’s a good day when A.M Hoops drops 🔥
Dude... A dunk for 3 points is actually the most amazing idea I've ever heard to help change/improve the game. Also, every team having their own unique court like MLB would also be FREAKIN AWESOME!!! That would be insane!
The transition sub would be insane. I’m here for it
Loving the houston rockets snipplets in the edits like fred headbutting alpi
What about no 3 pointer in 4th quarter
Agree with realistic rules like FIBA.
Less realistic :
-allow defending teams to get the reboud and counter attack on a missed free throw (at least on the second ft if it's a foul on a 3 point).
These are some really great ideas NGL!
Allow only one corner to have the 3 point line and each team decides which side it is. This makes it much easier to defend that one corner and you can ignore the other corner.
Two rule changes to consider:
1. Ban free throws. Are boring and take too much time. Instead, sideline the fouler and play 5c4 like handball, until a shot is thrown.
2. Sets instead of continued score. The team that wins 4 sets of 25 points or so (best to seven) wins the game.
I’ll save y’all 9 minutes that ain’t gonna be a new rule.
Extending the line to the sideline is better than widening the floor in my opinion, because making the floor even bigger would make defense even harder.
coach tech free-throw would be kinda cool 😂
They need to show the games on TH-cam.. it’s hard to find one subscription, app, or channel that includes all the games
Call Travel, bring back hand checking, No soft fouls, remove 3 sec violation and call the damn illegal screens.
Here are some rules that would make a difference:
I haven't heard of these suggestions but I like them alot
1v1 free throws and overtime = highest ratings ever
The duncan robinson shot at 5:04 is 100 percent legal on all levels and is not a travel
nice vid man
