I was so happy to see a video from you pop up on my feed! You're looking fabulous! Hope you're feeling as good! Love the soap and the delicate swirls on the water and sky!! Congrats on your new counter 👍💕
Thank you!! Yes, my energy level is coming up and I'm so grateful to be able to do something like this large batch of soap! The countertop is a huge blessing also. 🤗
@@AmyWarden YES! I haven't been soaping for long but one thing I have learned the more that I prepare the better the outcome! Although it never turns out exactly like I see it in my head lol! ~jc
What a feat doing 4 long loaves! And you did it without getting flustered! They are just lovely. My question is about adding your colorants in powder form. Do you have a preference to adding micas this way as opposed to mixing them with oils ahead of time? I’d rather not mix mine with oils but I worry as to whether or not they will mix well in the batch. Thanks for all your amazing videos!
If you know the quality of your micas and how your soap batter behaves, you can add them dry. Other pigments will definitely need to be pre-mixed or you will get spots of colorant. I think the only reason I didn't get specks of TD in the sky was because it was mostly mixed with the mica and I used the stick blender to incorporate.
Love the colors, came out great! Definitely a tropical beach soap with that pretty turquoise blue water. 👍🏼 I was wondering what your lye concentration was to avoid/minimize glycerin rivers and still insulate? That was a huge batch, great job!
How long does it take for that bottom layer to harden before you have time to work with and pour the second layer or does it even matter if the bottom layer hardens?
If you're making a large batch, (and depending on the fragrance and how long you blend) it will usually set up by the time you get the next batch made for the next layer.
@@AmyWarden All this time, I have been protecting my laminate countertop and ruining my wood kitchen table! 😆 Thank you for answering! Have a great day!
The big batches actuallly trace slower as there are more molecules to bump into one another to form the soap. Increase a little at a time - no need to fear!

Thank you, Susan! I believe it was my usual 33% (2 parts water to 1 part lye).
Very lovely Amy! I was you 100th like. :D
Yay!! Thank you, Sherry! 😄
Awesome
Thank you, Sheryl!
Hola, muy bonito el jabon.

Lovely soap! And I have a question. What kind of table top is not damaged by lye or fragrance oils?!! 😁
It's laminate like a kitchen countertop! 😄

@@loriearendt695 Oh no!!!!!
Congratulations on beating Cancer. I too am a breast cancer survivor - 8 years cancer free.
Yay!!! That's so awesome!
what is the volume of your soap molds?
I believe they each hold about 8 lbs of soap. It's been awhile since I've used them! 😄
thats really a huge batch not to mention backbreaking. I have a huge order but I am so afraid of big batches. I am doing bit by bit...sigh
The big batches actuallly trace slower as there are more molecules to bump into one another to form the soap. Increase a little at a time - no need to fear!
@@AmyWarden Thank you Amy. Thats what I have started doing.
