Sir I just wanna ask why the face retouching effect on gcam doesn't work on poco f3?I tried using different xml file but it didn't give any changes at all.
Hello Alvin! I just tried it and you're right, no change on the front or rear cameras. I would test out a different GCam port, there are a lot of features in Google Camera and every time these developers release a new version, a particular feature may have not been implemented, or might not work properly on every device. Unfortunately, that's not a feature I've ever tested on any ports, so I don't have any good suggestions for which to try--but maybe look through XDA, or I remember an Arnova port having a lot of features last time I tested with it? I'm sorry this is not a very helpful answer. I might make a video that covers more GCam features and, if so, I'll certainly include face smoothing!
@@phonecomp i prefer on a budget device like poco f3 or something like that. Because on flagship maybe the dev has optimized the software with the sensor. Ur video really helpfull because im new at gcam that has so many port and config. My first gcam was on Xiaomi Mi5 with BSG and didnt have config, now im on poco f3 im so confused lol
I agree, I test out different mid-range and budget phones and the Honor 50 is next (but that's not specifically a GCam comparison-but I will include a camera portion with some GCam pictures) and after that I think I'll try a few other GCam ports maybe specifically for video. @@phonecomp for night photography, i'm using nikita 7.4, i think its much better than stock camera for boost lighting and detail,i prefer use the normal mode with hdr+enchanted than the night mode.

Tried different versions of gcam on my poco f3. When it comes to camera (raw), gcam beats stock camera because gcam took a lot more sharper images and a bit saturated colors. But when it comes to video, portrait, night mode. Poco f3 stock camera blows gcam away
Hello Mr. N! I generally agree with you. I have an Open Camera vs GCam video going live today and the Nikita GCam port I used was very good and it did beat out the stock Poco camera on the F3 in most of the scenarios you mentioned.

I agree, I think it just comes down to the cameras being the weakest component on the device. The SOC, storage, ram, and display are all top tier--so the "just good" cameras end up getting singled out as "bad" in relation to the rest of the smartphone package. That's my theory anyway!

You're right, I have seen that GCam does turn out better shots of people on phones like the Galaxy A03s and OnePlus Nord N200, but I would say it's more even on the Poco F3. Maybe portrait mode looks better with GCam sometimes in good lighting, but I wouldn't say all the time. Can I ask what GCam port you're using?

How about nighttime video stabilization? That’s one thing I really wanted to see because I noticed the stock digital nighttime stabilization looks really wonky and almost like an acid trip! 😄 I was curious to see if GCam did it better
Hey John! I actually included one video sample in the original edit of this video, but I took it out (sorry). I can tell you that GCam DOES do a better job than the stock camera for video at night, but it's not that much better. I was amazed since I rarely ever suggest GCam for video shooting, but the Poco camera does look really bizarre under poor lighting conditions for video. I'll be sure to include a video sample next time!

You are using the wrong Gcam port and config. BSG or Nikita will show you the difference.

With the Gcam that I use on my Poco F3 in 99.99% of cases I have much better photos than with the native camera.

Not sure why people chit on the stock F3 camera, it's really pretty decent, far worse cameras out there even on more expensive phones
