@@sivx17 I know that paying 72 thousand euros for a hybrid SUV from Hyundai, even though it is the brand's best car, is a lot and the hybrid SUV options for 72 thousand euros are much better in terms of engine and construction material, but it is to compete with Volkswagen , BMW, Mercedes and Audi
I mean except for the back there's little to dislike. It's a big spacious car with GENERALLY good looks and an improved BMW dash, may with lower quality but yeah, for the price amazing value one's getting out of this. I just wish they had some stronger engines, if you load up 5 people in this car and their baggage to go on a holiday, like I would imagine one might buy a car like this for, this thing will rly struggle to accelerate.
@@부먹찍먹-q3oThats not available to UK market. For some reason Hyundai thought a small 1.6 4 cylinder engine is enough for a vehicle this big. At least they should maintain the 2.2 crdi option for this.
That was funny. Right before the verdict I thought to myself "did he ever say go right ahead and buy it" I don't think so. And 1 minute later he said it here. Impressive
Wait a second, did he just say it was legitimate to compare it to an Audi Q7? Lol. These things go for $50k in Canada and the Q7s get up over $100k. The Audis are built like a luxury tank and weigh up to 800lbs more than these.
I think the car looks really good, including the rear. A shame the punny towing capacity which would be expected given the engine - this is important for many buyers in this segment. It probably isn't any good carrying 7 people either for the same reason.
I got a 2024 Santafe 2.5 turbo and it does 0-60mph in about 6.2 seconds i dont why they didn't sell the 2.5 or the 2.5T as it comes with over 430nm and 290hp Also it tows 2.1Tons
As a 2024 owner, that back is the best! Incredible entry on the opening and can provide great cover in the rain. Like the look or not, the function has been incredible
I’ve had 2 Santa Fe. Great cars, never let me down. Brilliant family load luggers. Shame this one doesn’t have 40/20/20 split in the middle row. I’d have to go for the 6 seat version for driving to the alps with skis and kids (first world problem!). PHEV needs much more range to drop into lower BIK band to be a good company car choice.
you got the issue right there, taking the windows donw, it did not wipe at all any droplet...pb with Kia and Hyunday, there windows join is not tight enough...so it gets moldy green after one winter/season of rain vs a BMW where you can wipe your windows by just taking it down
It is quite cool looking car in a way, especially the rear , it's not bad I see it more like a retro design and the interior looks so good with he white panels and white steering wheel even though it look like a Defender steering wheel.
Thanks for the thorough review. It’s so nice inside. Definitely a big change from the Hyundais I looked at years ago. I guess things must be different in the UK because I have NEVER seen the latch adapters for child seats in the front seat of any car in the US. Child seats aren’t even supposed to be in the front seat unless there is no where else they can go in the vehicle. We even have warnings printed on the visors about not putting kids in the front seat because of the risk of severe injury from the airbag. I was shocked to hear you were expecting there to be a latch point for them in the front seat.
From the thumbnail I thought it was a knockoff defender 💀. Also yh this powertrain is somewhat quick but at full load on the highway it’s pretty gutless compared to the previously offered 2.2 crdi with 200 ish hp. I mean for the price it’s alright but long term reliability of that 1.6 petrol with such load is questionable to me. Also yh the rear end…what da heil is that?!
According to the designer, they started with the large boot opening and then went forward. Sorta design in reverse. Apparently, it was to allow for large items to be stored/hauled. They claim it has the largest opening in its class.
I was between this and a Renault Espace as my new car, and last week I just made the payment for the Espace. Don't get me wrong, that's a really good car, but I feel like Hyundai is out of its depth with this one. Here in Spain the top trim is more than 65k € (against the 52k € for the Espace as an example) and the specs on the car hardly justify its price. To put an example, despite all the tech and stuff, front matrix LEDs are lacking, it only has 2 climate zones or the fact that the plug-in hybrid doesn't even allow you to include a glass roof because it exceeds the maximum allowed weight get you thrown back. And a key disadvantage for me is the incomprehensible motorization that Hyundai has chosen for this car, at least in Europe. This is a 2.040kg SUV that at its best, it can offer you 250 hp. Also, compared to other SUVs on the market, the Santa Fe has a poor recharging protocol for the battery while driving, so don't expect to get more than 60 to 80km of full electric power. The weight has a crucial impact on the range and the consumption, which can hardly get close to 7l/100km. It is obviously a big-sized SUV, but the steering diameter is another concerning feature (more than 12 meters). Overall, the interior quality is clearly up to par with BMW or Audi, you can even get Nappa leather on the callygraphy trim, but comparing the general features it has to offer, it seems to be slightly overpriced, taking into account other options with similar characteristics on the market. For being Hyundai's first attempt to get into the "premium" SUV range it's not a fatal try, but clearly far from being a good one. They need to offer something more before claiming their right to be in that premium market. Very expectant to see how do they develop their upcoming models to try and fill the gap between those 120k € Range Rovers, Audis, BMWs or Mercedes and the entry level SUVs.

@@sivx17 In North America you're not getting a South Korean built car. You're getting an American built one. The South Korean built cars are exceptionally reliable. In Ireland where I'm from they are statistically ranked in the top 3. Top sold car here in 2024 so far is the Tuscon
I saw one of these on the M60 a couple of days ago and it looked interesting. The rear design looked better than it does in the review here. It certainly had a presence on the road.
I bought my first detached four bedroom house with an acre of land in Surrey for £52,000 in 1978. It's now worth £1.8 million WTF are people paying this sort of money for a plastic box for that'll be worth £200 in 10 years. Don't waste your money.
45 years of inflation does that to a property, that there really is no comparison.
And someone needs to buy new to get a secondhand one, just dont buy it as an investment, it will be worth less and you know that when buying.
I have arrived due to a carwow notification. Must watch.
Carwow, I'm from Portugal and the most expensive Hyundai Santa Fé for sale in Portugal is the Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid 1.6 T-GDI PHEV Calligraphy Pack which costs 72 950€
R u richer than English or something?
Power?
Lmao i aint paying 70K for a hyundai. Thats just stupid especially witht he engine reliability issues theyre having.
Her it cost 76 k
2.5L tgdi 290hp
@@부먹찍먹-q3oThats not available to UK market. For some reason Hyundai thought a small 1.6 4 cylinder engine is enough for a vehicle this big. At least they should maintain the 2.2 crdi option for this.
That was funny. Right before the verdict I thought to myself "did he ever say go right ahead and buy it" I don't think so. And 1 minute later he said it here. Impressive
I used to own an '03 Santa Fé and it really did everything I wanted, this is square body SOOOO much better! I think it's safe to say: I like this.
Wait a second, did he just say it was legitimate to compare it to an Audi Q7? Lol. These things go for $50k in Canada and the Q7s get up over $100k. The Audis are built like a luxury tank and weigh up to 800lbs more than these.
I saw one yesterday and it looks amazing from both rear and front
what happened to the rear 😭
The Koreans always f up something. Every model has some weird shite.
snoop dogg designed it
Getting used to the back now ,liking it the more I see it
I have had a Disco 3 and a Disco 4 - and this has the be the closest alternative - until you see that rear end!!
Are you going to review the major facelift of the Sorento? Due to being in the same family there are many features that cross over between them.
Love these….they’re selling a bunch over here in the US
Where is the Skoda Kodiaq video?
Ikr
I think the car looks really good, including the rear. A shame the punny towing capacity which would be expected given the engine - this is important for many buyers in this segment. It probably isn't any good carrying 7 people either for the same reason.
Love the fact that old good X5 e53 is still on duty for the filming :) what a legendary car!
It looks like it was made in Minecraft
🤣🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
People at the design department are playing Minecraft all day?
I wonder how many Creepers you can get in the trunk? 😁
@Carwow Is there a list of cars that "we should go right ahead and buy"?
bring lamborghini sian in drag race and ferrari 296 battle please and laferrari too
Gotta wait for N version! 😂
Kia/Hyundai are just smashing it at the moment. I have a new model Kia and absolutely love it
Be prepared for big repare bills, or get rid before 60k miles that's when the problems happen with Korean cars. They are not well built vehicles
I got a 2024 Santafe 2.5 turbo and it does 0-60mph in about 6.2 seconds i dont why they didn't sell the 2.5 or the 2.5T as it comes with over 430nm and 290hp
Also it tows 2.1Tons
I can binge these videos all day!
I could slap you an entire week
As a 2024 owner, that back is the best! Incredible entry on the opening and can provide great cover in the rain. Like the look or not, the function has been incredible
I think it is just the low positioning of the rear lights that put most people off.
there a 2.5 i4 and a 2.0 i4 also, please mention other engine versions that are not availble in uk cause not all of us are brits
But it's a review for Brits to buy cars in Britain and drive them 'in Britain.'
My favourite part of this car is the rear, interestingly. I think it gives off the vibes of older american SUVs such as Cherokee
I love it already ❤❤
What the hell is that
They say it’s a car. I say it’s a coffin
Is there a larger gap between the A at the end of the”Santa” and the F?? Or am I seeing things 2:45
Yea the gap is intentional.... coz it's 2 words santa fe
@@leslinchacko357 oh, thank you. The more You know
you got the issue right there, taking the windows donw, it did not wipe at all any droplet...pb with Kia and Hyunday, there windows join is not tight enough...so it gets moldy green after one winter/season of rain vs a BMW where you can wipe your windows by just taking it down
It is quite cool looking car in a way, especially the rear , it's not bad I see it more like a retro design and the interior looks so good with he white panels and white steering wheel even though it look like a Defender steering wheel.
All Hyundai designer move to Genesis and Ioniq. So they didnt finished hyundai design
12:38 you can see rear air vents on the B pillars 😊
I want one for the school run, if only it were bigger!
Sorry Mat I really love the back of this car, for me this is like an old design up to new standards and I absolutely love it !❤
0:33 a huge SUV powered by an anemic 4-cylinder engine. What could possibly go wrong?
I mean, I drive a 2011 model which also has 4 cyl, still running smooth to this day.
0 - 60 mph in 8,5 sec. ! Is that anemic ? And despite its size, it still weighs at least a tonnes less than an average/small sized electric car !
Not true...
its faster then skoda kodiaq tdi 150 HP.
Eginge works very good
Same engine in my Tucson. It's quick.
That rear end is unforgivable 😂💔
From the thumbnail I thought it was a knockoff defender 💀.
Also yh this powertrain is somewhat quick but at full load on the highway it’s pretty gutless compared to the previously offered 2.2 crdi with 200 ish hp.
I mean for the price it’s alright but long term reliability of that 1.6 petrol with such load is questionable to me.
Also yh the rear end…what da heil is that?!
VW Vanagon ahh rear
You are just negative to the max
The engine will be ok, have bateries and million gadgets, whatever will broke bfore the engine. Is a luxury car
@@kfx3907 ?
They gave EU the weak engine choice here in Dubai I got a 2.5T with 290hp and 430nm
Lego finally has got round to making an SUV.
I think the gap is intentional and also present in other cars. You can access the trunk. Quite useful.
Amazing video, will watch it later
😂😂
4:10
Did he just said the location of the gear selector is handy while reaching his hand to the place were it should be?😂
the rear is HURRENDOUS in my opinion
Yeah it's a bit rotten
So im considering buying one but i genuinely hate how the rear looks
According to the designer, they started with the large boot opening and then went forward. Sorta design in reverse. Apparently, it was to allow for large items to be stored/hauled. They claim it has the largest opening in its class.
This literally looks like the ULTIMATE family car!
I feel like I Wana buy one
Same
Idk man I'd probably take the Sorento or the Kodiaq over this car, mainly because they're offered with diesels
i really like the rear of this car. it's a timeless look!
Ive imported the Calligraphy version from the US to Bulgaria and it has the 2.5 Turbo with 281hp :) no hybrid BS for me
I was between this and a Renault Espace as my new car, and last week I just made the payment for the Espace.
Game changer in ugliness competition... Ioniq 6 and this 🤮
1.6L for this big of a car should be an illegal engine size
I saw one of these in real life the other day.. absolutely disgusting 💀😂
The interior is nice though 😊
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is like next gen Hyundai Tucson.
