    As an American, I always wish these brands and cars could be sold in the U.S. I’ve seen Dusters whenever I go to Mexico or Europe and they’re so cool. Everyone in America craves that cheap, capable SUV and this fits that right on point, and would fly off lots probably. This one looks like a nice improvement over the last one.

    • @KNRS927
      @KNRS927 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @ Only thing is I heard they moved it over from body-on-frame construction to unibody which stinks a little. Everyone in NA craves that cheap barebones off roader and the last generation Duster being body-on-frame and priced like a Trax would’ve fit that on the money. Still, it should be plenty capable while being affordable and spacious. This car would sell like hot cakes in the U.S. if Renault came here.

    • @Luka9S9
      @Luka9S9 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

      @@KNRS927 The Duster was never a Body on Frame SUV, it's aways been a Unibody Crossover based on the Sandero, this new one remains the same, being based on the Third Gen Sandero and using the same base as the Hatchback, being the CMF-B LS, a low cost version of the platform used in the Renault Clio, Captur, Nissan Juke & a lot of other subcompact models from Renault-Nissan.

    Affordable, value for money, reduced to the necessary but still comfortable and easy to use. No bullshitting of the customers. What you see is what you get - and that’s a lot. My dad preordered the duster and it was delivered in the first half of June (1.2 petrol 4x4, extreme pack). Before this, he had a first gen duster. I will write a small review for it, because I have put some kilometers on it as well and my dad keeps me updated with the car's condition.
    I am a person who believes that bigger engines are the best and at first I thought the car will be very slow, but when I first drove it, I was very impressed by how well it accelerates and drives for a 1.2 liter. The mild hybrid system helps a lot. The handling is very easy (in my oppinion way too easy for a car, but i heared that all renaults have this) and you can move very well in trafic. The design and technology are really improved. When driving the car, because of the design of the hood, you have a sensation that the car is bigger that it actually is. The interior is improved, but sometimes you feel like there is no space inside.
    The car now has 8k km and it has encountered some problems. The first one is the tablet. There are moments when the touchscreen is not functional and moments when it does not turn on at all. The local dealer told us that it is a known problem and there are working on a fix, so we are waiting on it. The second problem it had was with starting it. At some moments, the car refused to start on the first attempt. It would only start after 4-5, even up to 12 attempts. This was fixed by an update.
    Overall, the car is good, a big upgrade for dacia, but it is still a renault.

    Dyed in mass are only the front and back skid plates (the grey ones).
    The plastics on the sides of the car are made from a recycled plastic called “Starkle” which is actually unpainted - you can see the white dots throughout it - and has nothing to do with the “dyeing in mass” of the front and back skid plates

    • @ktm660smc6

      Maybe it is unique?

    • @ktm660smc6
      @ktm660smc6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Scratches in car interior plastics appear white due to the addition of mineral fillets to increase modulus (stiffness).
      These are often talc as it gives a good performance but is expensive so sometimes calcium carbonate (chalk or marble) is used as an alternative.
      In impact modified plastics the microscopic rubber domains also give an opaque white appearance when subject to damage or stress.
      Painting plastics gives a uniform glossy finish but is another additional costly step in the manufacturing process and there can be problems with colour matching if the plastics are painted off line. Painting online is restricted by the fact that the plastic substrate would melt or distort in the high temperature paint curing ovens. Self coloured plastics are therefore much cheaper and simpler to produce and is this a cost saving for the manufacturer. The flecs of colour visible in some of the exterior plastics used by Dacia are flecs of paint present when recycled painted plastics are granulated and reprocessed.@@jos_t_band3912

    This is a great help, thanks! I have the previous model Dacia Duster Journey 1.3, which I bought around 18 months ago having decided that after 20 years of giving a small fortune in £££ to Audi, I’d had enough and wanted something cheap and cheerful to run. I’ve been delighted with my Duster. It’s been a real workhorse for me, carrying hay, animal feed, fencing materials and even baby animals up and down farm tracks. I stuck a set of Cross Climate tyres on it as it is only the two wheel drive version, and I have to say it’s been the most comfortable car to drive even on longer journeys. I no longer care about scratchy plastics as I’ve saved about £30,000 over the equivalent Audi. For that, I don’t mind a slightly sore arm! 🤣 Seriously, I’m now about to order the new Duster shown here in the Automatic version as following a bad fall I need an auto gearbox going forward. Glad Matt likes it. I think it’s a great car for the money. And I will remember the tip of removing the fuse to get the infotainment screen working again!

    Well done Dacia another great car, clearly, they were paying attention in the late 90's to Skoda. It always shows how people are happy to spend their money on practical (scratchy plastics) family-proof cars when u see driveways to posh houses with a Dacia parked next to BMWs and Merc etc.

      It's not a low end car. The 1.2 turbo version costs 22-24k, the full hybrid version costs 26-27k... That's not low cost by any means.

      I'm not interested in 4x4... 4x4 is useless for normal people with normal driving habits. I don't need to drive on 25-30% mountain gravel paths... I don't need to tow heavy boat/yacht/mobile home either. For everything else normal Duster is capable enough. Just waiting for my 1.2 TCe Journey, which is not a cheap car by any means... The price of my Duster is equal to Seat Ateca Hola 1.0 TSi and Seat Leon Caravan 1.5 TSI 85 kW... But I like the Duster more so I chose Duster 😊

    I ordered the very first Duster in Nov 2012 - customer services sent me loads of gifts but I didn't actually get the car until March 2013. I was disappointed it had electric windows, I had been promised old school wind up ones - much better in my opinion. Had to fit my own stereo, but thats a bonus, you can have a decent old school Sony rather than the bland manufacturer option. Some time later they took it off me, resprayed the whole thing and changed the wings. It smelt of waxoil from then on. Loved the thing, I may well get a 2025 one, before its too late to buy a petrol car at all.

    As a German myself, I can officially say: Our car industry is finished. Way overpriced, shit designs and ever declining quality which reflects in some of the shortest warrenties on the market. It is beyond me how there are still hundred of thousands of VWs sold when they can have a true people's car like a Duster. Dacia demonstrates that cheap cars can look great too and are more reliable than their overpriced competitors.

    • @CoreMaster111
      @CoreMaster111 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Brand loyalty. I know people who swear by VW despite knowing that they have been in decline at every aspect for for a while now.
      Then again if this new Dacia Duster drives like Renault Captur it's based on then even I would go with VW and there is no way I'd buy new VW.

    I am on my second Duster and am thinking of replacing it for a new one. First duster was a 4x4 diesel excellent in the snow, my second also diesel was the twin clutch auto and it is a dream to drive. Best milage I have had is 53.2 MPG. My wife has a Sandero and my eldest lad also has a Sandero. I would recommend them to anyone who isn't to bothered by gadgets.

    3 things need to change 1:more armrest padding 2:mount the battery underneath the floor so you don't lose boot space 3: bi fuel version of the 1.3 because you can't get it on the higher trims (ps: the configurator for this came out later than the spring's configurator which was released later☠️)
