You are an individual who makes your own strings and for your own reasons twist them counter clockwise, but you are right that bows that are not made in the United States could come twisted counterclockwise instead of clockwise and it is good to check.
@@seansoutdoors here's the thing, I've seen PSEs come from the factory with a left twist on their strings. Currently, America's Best Bowstrings come with a left twist. I've been making mine with a left twist for almost 8 years now, and here's why - when you wind center serving on a bow with a right twist, you're going to wind that serving so those twists tighten up as the serving goes on - in the opposite direction of the string twist. This serving will naturally clock your arrows to the left as it leaves the bowstring. With a left twist string, the serving goes on in the opposite way, clocking your arrows naturally to the right as it leaves the bowstring. Most arrows sold at shops have right helical or offset on the vanes. The first 6 feet of flight off the string, you can see the arrow starting to clock left and then "correct" itself to start spinning right, thus fighting the natural rotation of the arrow. I'm struggling to understand why the rest is fitted to the "inside" of the bow. Would it not add more stability to the arrow as it is released to mount it on the side furthest from the string?
Sorry, I didn't explain myself well. The pin sight is positioned as far forward as the bow will allow, as that gives the maximum distance between the peep sight and the pin sight, which increases accuracy. So why is the rest not also fitted to the front of the riser, furthest away from the archer, so that the arrow is supported nearer to the tip?
Because the arrows would have to be even longer, and some people have a draw length so long that the arrow would be too long. Additionally, the longer the arrow is, the more it will flex in the shot process. When shooting with a mechanical release, the arrow bends straight down in the shot process. If the rest was that far forward, the arrow could flex into the shelf of the riser and prevent you from getting good arrow flight. God bless you.
Hello Sean. I realize this is an older video now, but we bought my son the dragon x8. He's been growing into it and his draw length has increased a lot. We've adjusted the length multiple times without issue. On this latest adjustment he shot several arrows, and then when he shot the arrow didn't move and the bow dry fired. I thought for sure that he didn't nock the arrow right until it happened again. I watched him nock the arrows and this happened about 4 times before we stopped shooting suspecting a bow issue. Have you ever heard of an issue like this? Sometimes the arrow shot fine, other times the arrow stayed like a dry fire. Thanks.
So do you just max the bolts all the way down on the limbs where you can’t see any threads to put it at max draw weight? I’m assuming you do but I want to be sure lol
What kind of drop away rest would be good for this bow? Also what kind of sight. I want to upgrade both. But don't know what is good? Thank you and God bless.
Pretty much any drop away rest will do the job. I have a QAD Ultrarest HDX on mine and it works well. I have a Limbdriver V-pro on my other Sanlida bow. Limb Diver rests tend to be more reliable after a few years of use. Maybe look into the Limbdriver V-pro as an option. It is one of the less expensive limb driven rests. For a sight, I have been using trophy ridge sights for the past five years. Some of them have had the level fall out because the manufacturer wasn't putting strong enough glue in them, but they have mailed out replacement levels each time it happened. I especially like the sights that have three pins but the bottom pin can adjust out to 100 yards. While I mainly only shoot to 40 yards, it is nice to have that feature. Hope that helps. God bless you.
Hi Sean, do you by6 any chance list of all of the thread diameters on the riser itself, ie the extra one next to the arrow rest etc. I'm in a metric country and I'll need to go to a specialist bolt shop in order to get any spares etc. I thought I'd ask here before asking Sanlida. Apologies if u have already posted this info somewhere else.
the cams are fine. I did weatch that video and you explain it really well but it'ds too dark to see where the string actualle gets placed. . I will call Sanlida and ask what they can do. thanks. I'll have to retune all over again tho.
Sean I bought a dragon x8 and I didn’t get an instruction manual. Do you think I could just take the bow to a good bow shop and they could tune it for me? I don’t know how to adjust draw weight.
There is a download owners manual on the Sanlida website. You turn the limb bolts to adjust weight but you should probably take it to a bow shop to let them do it if you are not sure. It's a standard double cam bow so any pro shop should be able to work on it.
I'm not at home right now. When I get home I could measure the width and let you know what it is and you can compare that with the measurements of the bowmaster. Also, if you needed to, you can loosen the limb bolts so far on this that the strings and cables pop right off so you could technically work on it even if you didn't have a press.
Sean, do you have any tips on how to get the cams in timing? Since I am new I am assuming that I would need a bow press for this and if this is the case I might be best off going in to get it done by a shop.
Hi Sean, i received the X8 but it came with a 1/32 peep sight. As beginner i suppose it is recommended to have hole on hole for peep and sight rather than centering the pin in the peep right?
Hi Sean I have purchased a Sanlida Emperor X8 it has a 30inch draw with 60lb and have been slowly turning it off your videos thanks for the great info only problem is the manual is in Chinese any suggestion?
I have this bow, it is great so far. But I made a stupid mistake an killed the string (it is still on, but it is not safe to use) Do you know what is the actual string length? The bow and manual say 58.13". Not a valid AMO length. Should I just get a 58" (AMO 62?) or do I need it custom made?
Gday mate I brought the sanlidax8 can’t seem to get it as tuned as I would like what bow would you recommend as I would like a bow that is built with a fine tolerance as I’m a bit OCD I’ve played and tuned my x8 sanlidax8 I just want more
All bows require quite a bit of tinkering with to get them to tune right. If you're having vertical nock travel issues try loosening one limb bolt a half turn, reset the draw stop timing and try again. If your having trouble with the draw stop timing, put a half twist in only one side of the yoke a d check the timing again etc.
BTW - I recommend replacing the D-Loop. Just had the one that was on pre-installed on the Dragon X8 rip off the bow and causing a misfire. I'm inspecting the bow as if it was a dry fire even though I got about 15 yards of flight out of the arrow that was nocked. Then I'm going to put a new D-Loop on and see how things for from there.
Hi Sean. I have a question for you. I dont have the x8 yet but I read the manual. setting #2 is for a 30 inch draw and 69.5 ibs. My question is that with my 30 inch draw can I lower the draw weight to like 55/60 ibs and still have my 30 inch draw? the manual says that if you lower the the draw weight to say 60, then that sets the length to 25.5, or am I reading it wrong. thanks and God Bless.
It depends. It won't be optimal spine for every draw weight possible for the bow. You'd have to email them and ask what draw weight the arrow spine is optimized for. God bless
Hi I received one of the bow today but did not receive a manual can you please post up pictures or give me the details for the draw length and would love to see a detailed video showing how to adjust draw length
I'm not on a computer right now but will try to upload a PDF of the owner's manual to my website. I'll get a link for you when I do. I also emailed the manufacturer and ask them to put one on their website. I'm not sure if they have one up already.
Hey Sean would you suggest this bow or would you suggest the Bear Archery Vast RTH Compound-Bow. And also are their any other quality bows you would suggest for $250 dollars or less?
I have not tried the Bear you mentioned. I think the Dragon is a nice bow for the price. I imagine both will work for your needs but like I said, I haven't tried the Bear. God bless.
It depends on the draw weight. Once you know your draw weight, put that into the specs of an arrow manufacturer's website and they will tell you what spine arrow you should shoot and the models they have in that spine.
Hmmm. I thought this company was from China. When I go to their website and click the contact us button it has a China address. I'd say it's a China based company, but I don't know if they have any production in the United States.
I personally think the Dragon X8 has advantages. There is one draw mod to go through all the different draw lengths, and it is metal not plastic. The bear cruzer G2 is a plastic draw mod, and you have to take it off and put a different one on every time you want to change a draw length by a half inch, which gets to be a bit of a pain. Those details give the edge to the dragon x8. Most of the other components are very comparable. Both use a double yoke system, etc.
Ok thank you. I'm new to archery a ND want to get into hunting with a bow. Would this be a good bow to start with? Also would I be able to take bow the x8 to a bow shop to get tuned? Because I know that bear is a U.S. brand. And many archery shops carry them. But the x8 does come out on top due to that it comes with what you need to get started. Thank you
Take it apart and take out the little clear disk that is preventing the batteries to engage so that the batteries don't die before you got it by being turned in by accident. God bless you
Sean, your video was helpful on tuning my Sanlida Dragon X8 compound bow; it's brand new. I did a draw and release of the string to see if I was going to need a forearm guard. The string came off. Can you send me a link on restringing the bow on my own, without the aid of a bow vise? I love your witness and your site logo. God bless you, Bro!
Wow you should never ever draw a bow back without an arrow on it and let go. That's called dry firing a bow and as you experienced it can ruin a bow. You need to loosen the limb bolts out far enough to put the strings back on and tighten the limb bolts back up. Only tighten two full turns on one side at a time.
I talked to them about the 60 pound option and it is made with some different parts so I think you'd be better off getting the 70 pound one and just lowering the draw weight to 60.
Hello! I really appreciate your TH-cam channel, I found a lot of very useful information. I have a Salinda Dragon 8x bow, bought recently and I would ask you, if possible, to send me some information.. I would like to change it for 70 lbs, but I don't know what components should be changed and if the expense is justified. Thanks antivipat for any information!
I took mine shot through the chronograph at 70 pounds, 31 inch draw, 350 grain arrow and it was 320 fps on the dot. In my opinion this bow is definitely my top pick for this price range and worth the $200.
@@seansoutdoors is ok bat you recommend this bow o and model bow y want some middle price no to spenders oto cheap..Can you recommend one..I ready subscrib with you like 10 months thanks from CALIFORNIA
They are similar but with this one being so much less of a cost there are a lot of people who will probably pick this one over the SB1. I personally can't shoot an SB 1 because it doesn't go to my draw length whereas this one does so that detail along with the price savings I'd personally get one of these if I was looking to buy a bow for myself.
Hi Sean. My string came off my x8. It wasn't dry fired. I had the weight set at 40 lbs for my nephew and after a few shots the string popped off. I searched online to no avail, and even emailed Sanlida. Could you email me a drawing ( doesn't have to be pretty) of the string routing? I would be very greatful to you. Thanks and God Bless.
Also, if the string came off without being dry fired then check the amount of cam lean the bow has before shooting it again. If one or both cams are leaning, remove lean by adding twist to the yoke on the side that the cam is closest to one of the yokes. This means you look at the side of the cam that is between the two yokes attached to the limbs. Add twist (twist it counter clockwise to add twist to Sanlida strings and cables) to the yoke that the cam is closest to.
@@seansoutdoors thanks . All my compound bow knowledge I got from your videos. I emailed Sanlida again for the string routing. just got to wait it out.
I know I can always upgrade but anyone else having issues with the arrow rest? When I have it “squared”, the arrows point slightly downward so I have to adjust the the entire rest at an angle... I’m pretty positive my D-loop is centered so I don’t think it’s the D-loop placement
@@seansoutdoors I believe so. Granted I’m brand new to archery and tried my best to follow your set up instructions, including your sighting in video with the Dragon X8. I’ll try working on it again today.
It would have been helpful if you would have shown close ups of the parts as you put them on. Your camera was to far away to tell exactly how to put them on. All the you tube videos have this same problem from the ones I have seen

I'm struggling to understand why the rest is fitted to the "inside" of the bow. Would it not add more stability to the arrow as it is released to mount it on the side furthest from the string?
The arrow rest is bolted on the opposite side of the riser from where the arrow is shot off of the shelf for clearance reasons.
Thanks.
No I have not. Make sure the nick of the arrow isn't cracked. Sounds to me like it could be a faulty nock. I can't imagine another scenario.
So do you just max the bolts all the way down on the limbs where you can’t see any threads to put it at max draw weight? I’m assuming you do but I want to be sure lol
That is correct.
Hi, How did you synchronize the pulleys? My pulleys are not the same as the string.
Add twist to the cable on the cam that is coming in contact first.
@@seansoutdoorsThank you very much
What kind of drop away rest would be good for this bow?
Thanks for this. Very helpful…. Subscribing now.
You bet. Thanks for watching and subscribing
How were you able to reach the module screws when adjusting the draw length? I cant reach the ones in between the limbs.
There is an allen wrench that comes with the bow that just has a tiny hook on the end that fits in that space
@@seansoutdoors I thought that was the piece, it was still kind of hard to reach but I’ll give it another try, thank you for the quick reply!
@@seansoutdoors it worked thank you!
Hi Sean, can you adjust the module for draw length without putting the bow in a press? Thank you!
Yes.
i have a question regarding the blue loctite, is it okay to put bluelocktite on screws? it will not ruined the screw thread?
It is good to use and does not mess up the threads

Hi Sean, do you by6 any chance list of all of the thread diameters on the riser itself, ie the extra one next to the arrow rest etc. I'm in a metric country and I'll need to go to a specialist bolt shop in order to get any spares etc. I thought I'd ask here before asking Sanlida. Apologies if u have already posted this info somewhere else.
Sorry, I'm not sure the exact sizing.
@@seansoutdoors Ok no probs! I'll ask Sanlida for the thread diameters
Okay. God bless you.
Any idea how to oriant the batteries in the sight light?
Face then down. Remove the clear plastic piece when first installing the light in order to get he batteries to engage
the cams are fine. I did weatch that video and you explain it really well but it'ds too dark to see where the string actualle gets placed. . I will call Sanlida and ask what they can do. thanks. I'll have to retune all over again tho.
The string attaches on the post on the cam and goes directly around the center of the cam to the other side.
Ty for your review n testing
You're welcome!
What hunting arrow would you recommend for the bow set to a 28 inch draw and max weight?
You'll probably want something with a 300 spine. I usually get GoldTip or Easton.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures awesome thank you!!!
Sean, if I were to buy a bowmaster press to adjust this bow, would the standard limb bracket be correct or the wide? Thanks
I'm not at home right now. When I get home I could measure the width and let you know what it is and you can compare that with the measurements of the bowmaster. Also, if you needed to, you can loosen the limb bolts so far on this that the strings and cables pop right off so you could technically work on it even if you didn't have a press.
@@seansoutdoors awesome, thank you sir
@@jb_1167 The outside edge of one limb to the outside edge of the other is 2.5 inches
Sean, do you have any tips on how to get the cams in timing? Since I am new I am assuming that I would need a bow press for this and if this is the case I might be best off going in to get it done by a shop.
Bow press is easiest way. You can loosen the limb bolts far enough to take the cable off and add twist though too
Hi Sean, i received the X8 but it came with a 1/32 peep sight. As beginner i suppose it is recommended to have hole on hole for peep and sight rather than centering the pin in the peep right?
I like a larger peep myself.
Hi Sean I have purchased a Sanlida Emperor X8 it has a 30inch draw with 60lb and have been slowly turning it off your videos thanks for the great info only problem is the manual is in Chinese any suggestion?
Write to them and ask if they have one in English they could send you. That's about all I can think of.
I have this bow, it is great so far. But I made a stupid mistake an killed the string (it is still on, but it is not safe to use)
Do you know what is the actual string length? The bow and manual say 58.13". Not a valid AMO length. Should I just get a 58" (AMO 62?) or do I need it custom made?
It is actually .125 rounded up and .125 is 1/8th inch. Do get a string 58 an 1/8 inches long.
@@seansoutdoors Ok, I'll do that, thanks for your quick response.
There was indeed some fraying on the string so I immediately let all the tension out of the bow and am looking to get a new string for it.
I have the string off and I measured it at 58" - does that sound right? :)
Wow sorry to hear that
Sorry to hear that
Yes it is also labeled on the bottom limb.
It will actually get a little longer as you lower the weight and yes you can. Lower it that low
Mine is shooting way left. I am out of adjustment on my sight. I'm only shooting at like 10 yards and it's off that bad. What could be the issue?
th-cam.com/video/mspoKFX4oxM/w-d-xo.html
This X8 is a good idea for the 1st compound bow?
Yes
I have a question for you. I assume that the arrows that came with my x8 pro are the proper spline. is that right?
God bless.
Hey Sean, at what draw weight and length does this bow come with?
It goes to 70 pound weight and as low as zero. Draw length goes from around 18 to 31 inches.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures at what draw length is it set at out of the box? Can you adjust the draw length easily from the cam using allen key?
@@morethanthrills1616 Draw length is easily adjusted. I do not know if they have a set draw length that they ship every bow at.
What is the best arrows to shoot with Sanlida Dragon X8 bow
It depends on the draw weight. Once you know your draw weight, put that into the specs of an arrow manufacturer's website and they will tell you what spine arrow you should shoot and the models they have in that spine.
Alwayz good stuff 🎯
Thanks!
It says on your Amazon Link that this bow is made in the USA. Who/what is Sanlida Archery and is it a USA made bow?
Hmmm. I thought this company was from China. When I go to their website and click the contact us button it has a China address. I'd say it's a China based company, but I don't know if they have any production in the United States.
Ty Sean!
You're welcome
Another great vid.. if God bless me I hope someday im gonna buy compound bow😢😢😢...

What bow is better to get the dragon x8 or the bear cruzer g2?
Thank you
Yes a shop will work on the x8. You can also just get a Bear if you prefer. Either will work. God bless you.
Got mine in today can’t get the sight light to turn on ?
Only tighten two full turns on one side at a time.
is this usable for bow fishing?
Yes, you would need to get a bow fishing arrow and reel though.
I was going to order a dragon with 60lb limbs... I couldn’t find that option in the sanlida website.
I talked to them about the 60 pound option and it is made with some different parts so I think you'd be better off getting the 70 pound one and just lowering the draw weight to 60.
Hello Sean, what is this bow fps? Can it reach 300fps?
Only at the longest draw lengths. I think I showed it in this video if I remember correctly th-cam.com/video/S-KhoE4RHJA/w-d-xo.html
Tighten the limb bolts all the way in to reach 70 pounds
Did u check speed?? My daughters 24. Thinks she wants to try archery in your opinion is it worth 200$
I took mine shot through the chronograph at 70 pounds, 31 inch draw, 350 grain arrow and it was 320 fps on the dot. In my opinion this bow is definitely my top pick for this price range and worth the $200.

What is the peak weight at a 28in draw length?
Check the reviews page of my website. I am pretty sure I put it on the chart I posted there.
Better than the Diamond Edge SB-1?

Try watching this video and let me know if that provides the info you need. God bless th-cam.com/video/Pz7riB3PIzE/w-d-xo.html
