I had an 83 that was similar. Headers with dual flowmater mufflers. Ran a 3.23 rrat I'm hear. Would get by anything on bottom end but midrange she had and won a lot o races with that setup
The painted headers are painted with simple paint to prevent rusting before installation. They should be stripped and painted with header paint or powder coated first, but almost never are.
A set of Porter glass packs would be a real nice addition. You would still have all the noise you wanted at full throttle but at cruising speeds it would take some of the snap out of it.
U still have a choke cool never use them got a w250 with a nasty 360 paid more in building the motor than did for the truck headers with purple horny mufflers and 2.5 inch straight pipes it's in winter storage and only comes out to play on the pipe line trails fuel mileage is about 5-7mpg burns premium with to cans of octane booster I piss everyone off when I fire it up at 4am to go to work sounds good shorten up the exhaust to where it exists in front of the rear tires and put in an xpipe for better exhaust scavenging
Was my grandpas truck he bought new, holds too much sentimental value to just junk it. The box is the worst thing about the entire truck, the interior is like new and the cab and front end of the truck are in great shape. I just had some new fenders and doors painted for it which I will be making a video on soon installing them.
Try some thrush turbo mufflers . They might be a little quieter. Sounds good though

Those pops are crazy coming out of an old small block mopar but I would definitely throw some resonators
Hey thanks for the ride I do think it would sound better with turbo or glass packs.
I would have to change the mufflers. I just got a 90 with duals and I may have to put mufflers on it, haven't driven it enough yet.

As a man who’s rode Harleys with short shots and thunder headers for 35 years it sounds good to me. 😆🤘
Just got my 88
The sound is too hollow, some glasspacks i.e. some good old fasioned cherrybombs as far foreward as you can put them and she wil sound just right👌👌

84 Prospector with the 360...My neighbors hate me as well😂😂😂
Hi. Is Is there any way to get photos from you of the undercarriage showing the entire exhaust work setup?
Did you pull the engine to add the headers?
Nope, I just removed the starter and replaced the big oem one with a mini starter for ease of removal of the headers in the future.
Gotta install them from the bottom-up 👍
Mufflers? Of course!
Sell that one an come to the south and get you another one with no rust.
