  • This is a full install and review of the Hedman 79080 hedders and homemade custom exhaust. The mufflers being used are Dynomax bullets. This is a stock 1991 Dodge D150 with 318 TBI. I show the new positioning of the 02 bung and how to plug the 302 head smog ports. For More information view ‪@318willrun‬ channel.

      Thanks brother! I believe the ideal setup would have been dual 2 1/4” pipes into an x pipe, and then ran into mufflers and pipes. The other option would have been into a Y pipe and into a single 3” muffler and single exit pipe. The 318 might have lost a little bottom end the way it is, but the owner wanted an exhaust that he could use with a high performance small block or big block later.

    Never made that mistake.
    I mean that particular mistake. 😂
    On my 66 Volvo wagon I upgraded from a straight 4 speed to one with a Leycock De Normanville J-type overdrive. (Gear Venders units are based on those)
    Somehow I got through the engine build, a B20 block from a boat with car internal parts and went through the transmission and attached OD unit mostly mistake free. I'd never really seen any of that stuff before, so I was feeling smart. When I put the thing in I thought about hooking up the wires before getting the transmission in place, but didn't. Got everything bolted in then went to wire up the OD unit. There's two wires on top of the tanny for the 4th gear switch, that no matter how much I cut my hands trying I couldn't get at! Spent a few hours unbolting crap to tilt the engine back for two damned wires. But every thing worked and the only stain on the floor after the initial run in was my blood. 😂

    I have exactly the same truck - 1991 d150 with 318 tbi and A500 transmission. I will pull out the motor soon and do a refresh - new gaskets, freeze plugs, paint, etc. The truck runs pretty good, small water leak at the intake manifold and one of the freeze plugs.
    I was thinking about converting it to carburetor, delete the emission and computer stuff and do the same long headers. But now I see yours still with tbi and running good....
    Do you think what you did to this truck improved the drivability, power of the motor? Would you do a carb conversion to this one or just go with a 360 la carb all in?

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The carb swap would probably net you more power. The TBI does have decent drivability and is quite responsive in this one. I believe the headers gained some torque. But carb swap,intake, cam, and headers will do the he best. If you’re not worried about mileage, then go 360 all in! Lol
