It's been a long minute since I've read the original trilogy (need to correct that), but I think by the time the Empire actually came to blows with the Foundation, the former had forgotten even how most of its systems worked. Foundation ships were advanced, but what won the day was the fact that the Empire had stagnated and hadn't fought an actual war in nearly forever. And was so intellectually backward that the Foundation was able to start a Cult Mechanicus.
I wouldn't say the Empire had "forgot how its systems worked", rather there was a dearth of trained engineers, so the designs of the newer ships was far worse than the older ones, and they had a lot of trouble keeping them in service. Simply because of its immense scale, the Empire's fleet still had far greater firepower than that of the Federation, and Bel Riose had superior grasp of strategy and tactics compared to the inexperienced Foundation navy.
The thing that defeated Bel Riose wasn't The Foundation and their technology, it was the forces of sociology and politics, with the Emperor back on Trantor being unable to tolerate a strong and capable underling who could potentially supplant him and take the throne for himself. Bel Rios, was rolling over the Foundation navy, carving a path to Terminus, until the Emperor yanks his chain and has him executed for treason.

If he brought an entire Imperial navy, he would lose due to internal strife and questioning, why he wasted resources on such an insignificant mini-Empire made out of a handful of planets, when there are Imperial systems rebeling against the Emperor's will. Elites were ripping what powers they could or themselves and a competent, strong, to their will unbending admiral, be it a loyal patriot, was too much to be left unrestrained.
@@petrpinc7695 I loved the book version of this conflict. While the show looks cool I feel like it's missing the "weight of history" that psychohistory in the books was based on. In the show they rely so much on individuals that psychohistory feels really flimsy at best.
@@Luthies well, if we consider the overall "individualism", which Americans get for breakfast, lunch and double portion for dinner as they grow up, then I am not surprised US adaptation story characters are more important, than overall galactic society's circumstances, that play a mayor role in psychohistory.
Has there ever been an air battle where both sides fly directly at eachother? I am under the impression that this kind of engagement is always avoided, because it is much less favorable than disengaging and looking to surprise the enemy another time.
Did you actually read the books? Because fights between the Foundation and Empire did happen, so i have no clue what you are upset about here. Also, “Master Asimov”? Are you one of those weirdos that think an adaptation needs to follow the original text to the letter? How unimaginitive.
This “adaptation” fucking sucked. And NO, it’s not like the book at all other than the same name used for some characters. The dialogue is laughably stupid 😂
This is THE DUMBEST space battle in the history of the film making. Period. Lame replica of the worst battles in star wars. All foundation ships were able to jump, but they never did. Neither side had any merit in their tactics. Well, actually, no tactics whatsoever to speak of. Just a dumb collision of brute force. The whole lot on Terminus was supposed to be smarter, than the emperor, but there was not a single second in this show, when this was evident. Overall the foundation bunch on Terminus is represented in this series like a bunch of idiots without slightest hints of agency. Regardless of the fact, that they are supposed to be the brightest minds of the galaxy. Writers of this scenario have no fantasy and no tactical merit whatsoever. They just copy things that they have seen elsewhere and pack it into a weird costume drama. Without understanding, what the original writings were about. An insult to the story created by Isaac Asimov.
The ships look like they are made out of hobby store plexiglass. I guess when you're a space ferring world you need big windows to see everything around you. Lol... Nevermind the coldness of deep space and the radiation.
actualy if we ever did space battles with small fighters it will be back to the dog fighting style because in space the only way to actually land a hit on a small fast target is at very very close range, the only reliable long range weapon would be missiles but they cant be too fast or they will overshot their targets all the time so a simple point defense system will render those useless. only big space ships can do long range combat and even then it would take insane calculations to land a hit, and the further the target is the less chance u have to hit it even with the best computers running the numbers. even energy-based weapons would be hard put to land hits in space on moving tagets because lasers are just stupid and easy to defend against (reflective surfaces come to mind) and plasma moves slower than light speed and these are the only energy based weapons we can actually create in reality.
What's the point of wearing flight suits when Imperial officers can jump to and from planets, and have and nanobots in their blood that are shown to keep them alive from falling from space or their craft exploding? This is Foundation-era tech. Flight suits would have been EXTREMELY silly.
Nice looking spacecraft, dynamic battle scene, but totaly unrealistic no space battle is ever going to be fought like a WW11 fighter battle. See the space battles in The Expanse for an idea of what it might actualy be like.

They are wining in the book. Its the living will of the general agents the dead hands of Seldon (who are dead of old age, no AI or something like that, only per-recorded message)
It's interesting to see how much the story has changed between the books and the series. It has gone into a completely different direction. In the books, the empire becomes nearly irrelevant. When they do show up again, they are by far technologically inferior to the Foundation. It isn't the Empire or an army, really, that challenges the Foundation. It doesn't look like the Mule is part of the series anymore, nor anything to do with a Second Foundation. I wonder if any part of the other books of the Asimov universe will make it to the series, or if this is original content here on out.
You miss the whole story line of "the General" or "dead hands" then the imperium do a final attempt to regain control over the periphery, and stop the decay, and send out its best General with a fleet of imperial battleship. The General smash all opposition, and closing in on Terminus.
For great designs of the ships we sure don't get to see a decent space battle. They are saying the invictus didn't maneuver, didn't close and engage the deliverance. And that the envelopment ships didn't come in to engage the invictus. I like foundation but the military shown in it are so silly.

@@petrpinc7695 I loved the book version of this conflict. While the show looks cool I feel like it's missing the "weight of history" that psychohistory in the books was based on. In the show they rely so much on individuals that psychohistory feels really flimsy at best.
@@Luthies well, if we consider the overall "individualism", which Americans get for breakfast, lunch and double portion for dinner as they grow up, then I am not surprised US adaptation story characters are more important, than overall galactic society's circumstances, that play a mayor role in psychohistory.
what show is this and what is it on
i almost finishe with the expanse season 6 , this looks promising for my new series to watch.
Is there a reason the pilots have no protective gear at all?
New generations would know nothing about Asimov's true legacy.
Have his books disappeared or what?
I read the books because of the series, so no.
Asimov was kinda stinky. Just a technophobe hiding in a scifi body
I feel like Gundam is more faithful to the source material when they rip off Foundation.
What Series is This? Name Please?
This is looks Awesome!!!
Foundation on Apple TV
Either space fighters move at car speed of pilot experience 1000's of G.
Has there ever been an air battle where both sides fly directly at eachother? I am under the impression that this kind of engagement is always avoided, because it is much less favorable than disengaging and looking to surprise the enemy another time.
Have the creators ever read Master Asimov's masterpieces? Because this has nothing to do with the Foundation...
It’s not exactly like the book but I personally enjoy the series better
@@Vim-eo2zythey’re different
A dogfight??? This is so dumb. They should have looked at the expanse
no mask, no belt ?
Pull over let's see your pilot license
Man this looks nice... Though it is rather boring. Worst part is, however, this just has nothing much to do with the books really...
To be fair, the original books were dumber than soup.
This is reminiscent of a Star Wars dogfight
This fighter design looks like a straight rip from the 1999 Lost in Space movie. Even the way the fighter body rotates around the cockpit.
what show is this ??
What show is this?
“Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.”
― Isaac Asimov, Foundation
Yet they concluded s1 with big dakka. The insult was great, will never watch the s2 ever
There was plenty of violence in the books, despite Hardin’s sayings.
This is just as Asimov didn’t describe…
building for a fight with empire for like 150 years and they have like 8 fighters and a ship they got 150 years ago, wow, impressed
my guy this show is on a budget of 45m $
I mean, they kinda explain it in the final episode.
@@selor8151 Even star wars did large scale battles decides ago. CGI isn't real. Not sure why your making excuses for ball dropping.

I am so excited! I will be uploading more important scenes from the finale.
como se llama la serie
is that... lost in space?
Nice Star Wars...Just a question...Where is Asimov?
still questioning how the foundation managed to manufacture their own ship design
Even the fucking empire had flight suits
There are many things you can criticize the Galactic Empire (Star Wars) for. Having their pilots wear space suits isn't one of them.
Це серіал ?
Feel like another version of Backstreet Boy MV 😐
the Evil ships look like TIE Reapers mixed up with TIE Silencers!
А где скафандры на случай пробития кабины? То есть из-за маленькой, некритической пробоины пилот умирает и боевая машина становится космическим мусором.
What is this show called?
Foundation
Where those sound of fire coming form 🧐
i really wish they didn't like, make space combat so dull in probably one of the greatest sci fi epics out there
The Gay Fleet 😂😂😂
Will humans fly in future space fighters?
In some probably
I wish the empire wasnt always losing. Just because something is an empire doesnt make it bad. When are we gonna say the cool guys win for once
They are wining in the book. Its the living will of the general agents the dead hands of Seldon (who are dead of old age, no AI or something like that, only per-recorded message)
There is no sound in space😅
No, but how is it going to be enjoyable for viewers if there is a space battle with zero sound effects?
Reliant ships? 0:08
“I thought these arseholes were supposed to be merchants?”
- clearly someone has never done business in the outer rim territories.
Взорвать боеприпасы с шрапнелью и сразу решить незначительную помеху в виде мелких целей .?
.......... I don't remember this part of the book.
at least fighters are dogfighting, not huge starships :)
For great designs of the ships we sure don't get to see a decent space battle. They are saying the invictus didn't maneuver, didn't close and engage the deliverance. And that the envelopment ships didn't come in to engage the invictus. I like foundation but the military shown in it are so silly.
They have all this technology, but assisted aiming isn't a thing.
Weird they wouldn't wear some kind of space suit incase of a breach
If there was a breach they'd die anyways so why have the suit
Lol and people criticize Star Wars for having sound in space
Yep, well that's because Star Wars ain't woke.
These dynamic dogfight scenes are refreshing to see & feel more like Star Wars than that in the recent movies
if you dont add the sound effects its rather boring now isnt it, never mind the pilots in those fighters having no G Forces oh wait they have inertia dampeners thats why
Mass Effect solution: Sound emulators!
I read all the Foundation books a few times. This doesn't happen.
Range of weapons: 100 meters or so?
Stupid and boring, WW2 replay.
There is no sound in vacuum, Fail.
Combat pilots in the future don't need seat belts or helmets. Nice.

This battle was anti climatic. They lost so badly and they had over a century to prepare for it and still end up defeated when the empire didn't even improve on anything.

Star Comflict?! Do you play that too?
Or do you mean that as a generic-ized or knockoff title?
@@adamofblastworks1517 I mean its like the Empire and Jericho skirmish , I would say Federation but the Empire's enemy are using drones ( unmanned fighters, more like interceptors) but the Jericho were like Space Cyberpunk and the Federations were aristocrats-like
Sadly a super generic star wars style space battle. With these advanced technologies no shot would miss. Lasers dont travel slow, they are instant beams.
Yea, WWII style fighter space battle may looked cool in 1970's scifi, but today ? We are entering drone age now, this thing just look stupid.
Which is why Star Wars was garbage from the beginning but nobody will admit that.

Ohne Helm und Druckanzug im Weltall alles klar.
"Star Wars" was copied from "Foundation" so "Foundation" copied from "Star Wars".
But only the bad parts
Prior Art issue so convoluted to consider how Asimov in of 1940s "Astounding" had Korelian filmed as Corelian, hyperdrive jumps dangerously close to a planet, hyperdrive motivators, Trantor filmed as Coruscant, Avakim filmed as Anakin, Hober Mallow filmed as Han Solo, same uniforms of Galactic Imperialium, deleted galactic maps, etc.
Even director of Apple TV + production and "Locus" have noticed how "Star Wars" was plagiarized from Asimov's "Foundation"
"Princess Leia" was plagiarized from Arthur C. Clarke's "Cosmic Casanova".
Other sci fi plagiarized by "Star Wars" could be a whole book to remember how Vogt was able to prove Prior Art on Riddley Scott over "Alien"{(1979) since even Trekkie episodes were plagiarized from Heinlein and Kipling.
Lol.. imagine thinking this trash is better

By your same dumb logic many people have never heard of, nor read the Foundation book series - the most acclaimed and decorated works of science fiction literature ever created.
So does it mean that because of that (that many people have never read not heard of them) that they are therefore bad books?
