*SEE THIS IS WHAT WE LOST UNDER 343 INDUSTRIES:* Feeling the stakes, feeling the weight of what is occuring on screen. Being in the dark, desperate, on the backfoot in front of existential threats that we barely understand, that are mysterious, deadly, ancient, noble, majestic and grand, that you owe respect and admiration to for its sheer might, even though you are desperately fighting against it. I've felt more emotion in these four minutes of amateur animation than in the ENTIRETY of 343's artistic works.
The reason we feel that way, is because the old fights had normal humans throwing everything they had, and it still wasn't enough. Nowadays everyone is a spartan and they can easily 1 v 100 everyone
@@jetzul712 Indeed. I've always said it and was always disappointed when the playerbase was happy to see more spartans in-game, and to see them depicted as unbeatable.

i also thank Chokepoint Games for getting involved, SoTP is my favorite mod for quite some time, this makes these videos with your ship assets all the more better.
Halo at its best is about the absolute desperation of the UNSC against the religious alien zealots who think it is their purpose to wipe humanity out as they are "heretics" to their beliefs. They will have lost thousands of sailors, and dozens of ships to save millions of civilians.
I feel like this is sadly realistic of how the space battles between UNSC and Covenant actually would be, Humans got no shields just pure determination to repel the invaders and it takes probably absurd amounts of money, time, effort, and lives every time one of those multibillion dollar ships goes down, awesome job on the animation!
This truly brings the feeling of desperation and hopelessness the Fall of Reach novel had. The UNSC's only tactic of getting a victory in was to use overwhelming numbers and even then they almost always resulted in massive casualties. I always loved how the Covenant was portrayed as a force of nature that always seemed to be two steps ahead of everyone else. Kat said it best in Halo Reach: "I know we're losing. I want to know if we've lost."
Thank you so much for making this. I teared up when the commander said "We are all that stands between these bastards and the 20 million souls below." This franchise is in desperate need of media like this and you can tell it was made with a lot of love.
This was really well done. There's a specific manner to space combat in Halo, as described by Eric Nylund in his novels, and you've captured it very nicely here. One small bit of feedback is that the UNSC had no countermeasures against plasma torpedoes. No known methods to confuse or interfere with their guidance and no way to shoot them down. It's part of what made the Covenant so unstoppable in space.
Actually, it has been found that the radiation from nuclear missiles going off between the plasma and the UNSC ships CAN provide a temporary shield. Admiral Cole used this in the battle of Psi Serpentus, his final battle as far as we know.
@@brussellstudios Oh! I actually didn't know they changed that. Definitely prefer the old canon, that's a big nerf to the Covenant's main armament. It does make for some great shots though!
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem That's true, but it is very much a fringe case. I wouldn't say having to use nukes would make for a feasible counter-measure system!
New to me too. I’m a fan of the old school but the original halo novels, while great on paper, don’t translate to screen as well. Im always working on balancing lore accuracy with what is cinematic
As a sci-fi nerd who also happens to be a naval gunner, this is a Halo fleet battle done right! EPIC! What class of ship was the lead UNSC vessel emerging from slipspace? This was a joy to watch, the overwhelming superiority of the Covenant carrier is on full display against the desperate human defenders. Yet sheer weight of numbers, and heroic sacrifice, manage to drag it down in the end. You can easily imagine how nerve wracking it would be for the crews to watch as the plasma bolts track their ship, the ships captains trying to steer clear as they bring various weapons to bear. Then watching all the ships maneuvering in unison to bring their MAC cannons to bear for a simultaneous strike was just excellent. But it's more than just the technical accuracy, it's the voice actors bringing those ships crews to life as they fight, not just for themselves, but for those who cannot. A++ More please 😀
Thank you! I am working towards better human animations so I can potentially have more scenes of the crew and officers on the ships for the future. The lead UNSC vessel is an Able class destroyer

Incredible depiction of the desperation of the unsc naval situation. To me the biggest theme in halo has been sacrifice. Just as the story of the sacrifice if the 300 spartans on earth the unsc sacrificed its fleet and assets to buy time for the rest of humanity to live a little longer. Great vid
The Halo community is strong, I now know 3 channels that are animating their hearts out to tell the tell of Halo in their own way. And its awesome Keep it up. We await your next amazing Video.
Fantastic animation. This really catches the against all odds feel of UNSC ships going up against covenant ships. Even just this one CAS was a world ending threat and more than these 2 entire unsc task forces could handle. Really loved how you showed the unsc fighting just to survive long enough to fire one more salvo
I'm loving that with the info of halo moving to UE5 I'm seeing a lot of fan shorts in UE5 And my God does it make me excited This was spectacular The lack of sound from the battle with only the radio chatter to hear or the slight *thumping* you hear makes it feel emersive But what really astonished me was the use of the UNSC ships The movement with the thrusters and realigning the nose of the ships to fire the mak rounds Or using thrusters to change positions It really gave the feel of a space battle being a spherical battle Not just a 2D aspect as if the ships were on water Bravo 👏 Bravo I must say
Great Work….. they need to make a “Battlestar Galactica” version of Halo that is focused on the fleet- and its support of planetside operations with cameos of the Spartans at various important points in the story that are consistent with the lore. This show could easily gain success and would go on for at least six seasons.
I just wanna see something similar to The Expanse, using real physics like light lag & thrust vectoring in a 3D combat zone, seeing how UNSC ships fight against Covenant ships that superior in every way.
@@jimmyjim325 That can work in favour with a good cast. Or, you can have a suspension of disbelief and a ship that survives on good leadership and pure luck. Mind you, Adama pulls his moves because he has the history and the knowledge Galactica can survive far past what she's supposed to. He is effectively the human embodiment of what Galactica is. A UNSC captain would have an entirely different mindset, and would operate with a level of shrewdness befitting someone who knows he'll die at the smallest screw up. It'll hit all the more harder that when they do go above and beyond for the self-sacrifice, which is the core of every Halo story; the ability to go above and beyond what is requested of a person.
"Status report." "The entire prow is gone, the humans' use of nuclear warheads is annoying but nothing to write home about." "Very well, we will begin orbital landing and secure a foothold on the human world. How long until reinforcements arrive?" "They are already here." "Good, hopefully the humans send their demons next time."
The CAS *does* canonically have a backup command center somewhere, and the main isn't even in the prow (neither is anything important other than a large plasma beam emitter and the dedicated reactor for it), so this ship more than likely continued like this.
Like Owen Wilson say one time: "Wow" that's absolutily awesome. If only Paramout was half talented than you are, the serie would have been great. 'Can't whait for the next battle.
Agreed, a battle scene like this would've made a fantastic episode intro or season opener for a quality Halo show. That's the first thing that struck me about this sequence - it felt like an intro to something big. Something to show the stakes of what humans face in space during the war that the entire series is about. Paramount should hire this guy and drop whoever decided to show a bunch of UNSC ships jump in against a Covenant fleet and not even put up a fight.
Cried twice rewatching this masterful depiction of humans desperately sacrificing themselves no matter the odds, one sacrificing passing the torch to enable another one over and over again. Please make more, its impactful stuff :)
That final comm and after action report of the commanding officer saying that her task force was lost is probably the most haunting thing ever, if your the fleet commander you here her after action say they won then you hear that the task force e is gone and that those where her last words, and the last of every soul you sent to protect the 20 million in the planet
This is the canon! It's fantastic! The crew of the Covenant ship know that they have missile defense. The UNSC ships look heroic by performing emergency maneuvers and not going on a direct course with the Covenant ship, destroying it with a single hit. No one has plot shields, a real thrilling drama, a tragedy in a 4-minute video. There is no deliberate flirting with human heroism against absolute stupidity. The canon, as it should be, is what the interest in the universe should be based on. It is not based on super cool Spartans taking out thousands of Elites in one shot. This kills any interest in their battles and kills any intrigue in a battle against a really strong and intelligent opponent. Thank you for this video. You have restored my faith in Halo!

amazing work, love the animation, voice chatter and acting, everything. halo's space battles are mostly off-screen or in books but they are some of my favorite parts of the halo lore due to the mismatch in tech between human and covenant fleets. this captures that perfectly
Loved this. Thank you. Heroism, stoicism, hope and sacrifice. (and kick ass large scale combat!) Everything the lore has. None of which the TV show runners understood.
A few dozen UNSC Ships exploding just to stop a single CAS-class assault carrier? Ya me too. UNSC was losing the sky battle, but winning the ground battle. The sky battle glasses the ground battle.
Dude, you had me enraptured THE ENTIRE TIME. I actually bellowed *YES* at the top of my lungs when they got the MAC rounds into the glassing beam, and oh man, the ending… Perfect. One scene from the reach book I would love to see is when the Pillar of Autumn fires it's three MAC burst to open a brief hole in a carriers shield and Cortana flies a Pelican with a Nuke inside through the gap. The Autumn then flies past as the shields close and contain the blast inside, melting the ship but protecting the Autumn. But yeah this was incredible, such a great job.

absolutely wonderful, only criticisms i’d have would be the seeming lack of usage of emergency thrusters beyond a single mention, the late deployment of nukes, the low count of archer missiles, and the seeming ineffectivity of MACs. but these are issues in a lot of space battle animations imo and very few are as quality as this one

Hot DAMN this was amazing. Such attention to detail and audio full of emotion. This really helps puts into perspective just how completely and utterly outmatched humanity was in the space combat side of things.

My brother in the fight. This is absolutely amazing. I - the Able being chased by those 3 plasma torpedoes? BEAUTIFUL shot. I knew what was gonna happen but I was still freaking out a bit 😅 the music, the lighting, the EVERYTHING. thank you for including me in this!
Thank you always for the kind words and for adding your voice to it!
This Battle reminded me of your camera angle style, good to see the Halo community getting more active like this 👍
*SEE THIS IS WHAT WE LOST UNDER 343 INDUSTRIES:* Feeling the stakes, feeling the weight of what is occuring on screen.
Turned out absolutely gorgeous, the visuals, the scenery, the music and damn the voice acting !
What halo fleet battles deserved, alas.
The voice actors deserve a ton of respect. They were doing their part!
Really showed how badly Humanity was losing the war. How it took like nearly a dozen or more ships to take on one Covenant cruiser.
your work makes a grown halo fan cry, this one little story touched my heart, from the acting to your art, you have been doing more then what 343 WISH it could do..........keeping the halo spirit alive through your media, so AS a halo fan for over 18 years i thank you and wish you to keep these up, whether short or long, i will always be a fan!
i also thank Chokepoint Games for getting involved, SoTP is my favorite mod for quite some time, this makes these videos with your ship assets all the more better.
I very much appreciate the kind words and support on the Patreon. I’m doing my best to bring much more Halo content

This is just a downright slaughter.
Welcome to the UNSC Navy. Thousands of Sailors, to save millions of civillians... who have to flee the planet and become refugees..
That's pretty much how the entire war went. The UNSC had no choice but to use overwhelming numbers which...well, yeah. Slaughter.
It's an assault carrier aka the super star destroyer of halo
well, 39 billion lives minus 26 billion lives is certainly a slaughter
Can't be a slaughter without a little laughter
This truly brings the feeling of desperation and hopelessness the Fall of Reach novel had. The UNSC's only tactic of getting a victory in was to use overwhelming numbers and even then they almost always resulted in massive casualties.
I always loved how the Covenant was portrayed as a force of nature that always seemed to be two steps ahead of everyone else.
Kat said it best in Halo Reach:
"I know we're losing. I want to know if we've lost."
Thank you so much for making this. I teared up when the commander said "We are all that stands between these bastards and the 20 million souls below." This franchise is in desperate need of media like this and you can tell it was made with a lot of love.
Reminds me of the line from the Halo 2 trailer: "but down here, it's the g-ddamn apocalypse!"
Thank you! Old canon correct, new canon plasma torps can be. Ive taken bits from both canon since the official halo is a bit messy.
A++ More please 😀
Thank you! I am working towards better human animations so I can potentially have more scenes of the crew and officers on the ships for the future.
The lead UNSC vessel is an Able class destroyer
@@brussellstudios Look forward to seeing your efforts!
fantastic work! Real shame 343 doesn't put any effort for space battles. All we get from them is uncompleted games and power rangers. But that leaves the door open for talented people like you to make great content. keep it up!
Spartans are more or less superheroes and only Infinite was uncompleted.
@@pkyboi937 5 was incomplete at launch and for a few months after. Spartans are by definition super heros, but 343's take on them in 4 and 5 is definitely Power Rangers instead of what every other game has.
Great vid
This was fucking amazing. These are the fleet battles Helo has been missing.
Nevada and Artemis sacrifice will not be forgotten.
The Halo community is strong, I now know 3 channels that are animating their hearts out to tell the tell of Halo in their own way. And its awesome
Keep it up.
I'm loving that with the info of halo moving to UE5
I'm seeing a lot of fan shorts in UE5
And my God does it make me excited
This was spectacular
The lack of sound from the battle with only the radio chatter to hear or the slight *thumping* you hear makes it feel emersive
But what really astonished me was the use of the UNSC ships
The movement with the thrusters and realigning the nose of the ships to fire the mak rounds
Or using thrusters to change positions
It really gave the feel of a space battle being a spherical battle
Not just a 2D aspect as if the ships were on water
Bravo 👏
Bravo I must say
Great Work….. they need to make a “Battlestar Galactica” version of Halo that is focused on the fleet- and its support of planetside operations with cameos of the Spartans at various important points in the story that are consistent with the lore. This show could easily gain success and would go on for at least six seasons.
I think the problem is that with the attrition rate you wouldn't have any time to get to know characters before they got obliterated lol
"Status report."
"The entire prow is gone, the humans' use of nuclear warheads is annoying but nothing to write home about."
"Very well, we will begin orbital landing and secure a foothold on the human world. How long until reinforcements arrive?"
"They are already here."
"Good, hopefully the humans send their demons next time."
The CAS *does* canonically have a backup command center somewhere, and the main isn't even in the prow (neither is anything important other than a large plasma beam emitter and the dedicated reactor for it), so this ship more than likely continued like this.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem much like the CCS?
@@danentakoto2701 Yes.
I LOVED doing the music for this! Nice work, Brussell! ❤
The music makes it! Looking forward to working with you again
You did a awesome job! Music makes the scene.
It was so good I bet people thought it was from one of the good Halo games and haven't noticed it was made specifically for this.
0:34 Crimson 1!? Fantastic job from all of the voice actors! Loved Portsmouth's VA!
Like Owen Wilson say one time: "Wow"
that's absolutily awesome.
Great work, transisitioning to different angles of the battle is an excellent choice of scale!
It was all a ONI inside job all along. I knew it.
Incredible. Love the animation and voice acting. You've managed to capture Halo space combat as it should be.
I love the use of the rampart point defense guns, you hardly see that in battle nor mentioned in any of the books

Beautifully displayed the utter desperation the entire time. Even when the UNSC 'wins', its a pyrrhic victory. Not just the animation but the voice acting too!
A++
This perfectly shows the massive disparity between UNSC and Covenant ships excellent work!
I tip my hat to this masterpiece, accurate to most of the lore and fun to watch. It also gives the real perspective to what truly was the space battles against the covies.
If the UNSC wins is by drowning them on their own blood.
So good! Excellent visualization of the 'no up in space' dilemma that most sci-fi shows seem to ignore. Orientations were awesome!
amazing work, love the animation, voice chatter and acting, everything. halo's space battles are mostly off-screen or in books but they are some of my favorite parts of the halo lore due to the mismatch in tech between human and covenant fleets. this captures that perfectly
Loved this. Thank you.
Heroism, stoicism, hope and sacrifice. (and kick ass large scale combat!)
Everything the lore has. None of which the TV show runners understood.
Exactly how a UNSC battle with the covenant should be. A CCS can take out entire UNSC battlegroups, and the UNSC loses to only a single ship.
When the fans make better scenes than the original creators of HALO.
Definitely better then the halo tv show
Amazing work! Great attention to detail on the Halo ships and weapons.
Man stuff like this takes me back to the good old days of Halo.
Man, I don’t know why but this hit me hard. How they sacrificed themselves for their fellow humans on the surface. That is the UNSC at its finest.
Incredible, it’s just like my imagination
A few dozen UNSC Ships exploding just to stop a single CAS-class assault carrier? Ya me too. UNSC was losing the sky battle, but winning the ground battle. The sky battle glasses the ground battle.
@@Daginni1 Not even. The UNSC lost the majority of ground battles as well (not even counting glassing), it was just closer than in space.

You guys seriously rocked it, that was awesome. You really pulled of how outgunned the UNSC was against the Covenant. Loved the video!
This is essentially what i used to visualise reading the Halo novels. Going to re-read my collection again 🥰👌
Dude, you had me enraptured THE ENTIRE TIME. I actually bellowed *YES* at the top of my lungs when they got the MAC rounds into the glassing beam, and oh man, the ending… Perfect. You nailed the theme of Halo with this: Hope. Bittersweet hope, but *hope* nonetheless. Nobody giving up, all hands on Artemis raging against the dying of the light.
I tip my hat to you sir. Phenomenal.
Halo may be dying but fans like you keep it alive
THIS is what the Halo show should have been. Well done
The space battles in the Human-Covenant War were devastating. Even when the UNSC occasionally won it was at the cost of most of their fleets.
Great animation, but a MAC round on an unshield CAS assault carrier should have been it.
Definitely for the three cruisers firing the frigates I could see just causing massive local damage
Looks like a Space Engineers battle with the point defenses, third person camera follow and the ship/ missile thrusters. Very fun watch!
As a fan of Halo since my childhood and the first game, thank you
This was majestic. You made art that spoke to thousands of Halo fans, and we thank you.
you've upped your game now! The sound design, the cinematography, the dialoge, its above anything you've done before! keep up the good work!
This is so good! This is basically official Halo cutscene quality!
That was incredible. Please MORE :D I would have liked to see the MAC's take out the shields first but I get that it's implied the first fleet did that.
This way better than halo series on Parliament plus. The graphic is epic and voice actors is good.
This is incredible! Brussell, ya'll did an insane job with this! It turned out amazing, the voice acting, the animation, the lighting, setting, all of it is remarkable. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before, this is something of it's own

This felt like something out of the expanse! Amazing
Amazing vid!!❤ Particularly liked the detail of space debris and the orbital manoeuvres. Top marks guys
Wowwww this was seriously cool. I’ve been wanting to see a proper battle between main ships for so long, you did great!
absolutely wonderful, only criticisms i’d have would be the seeming lack of usage of emergency thrusters beyond a single mention, the late deployment of nukes, the low count of archer missiles, and the seeming ineffectivity of MACs. but these are issues in a lot of space battle animations imo and very few are as quality as this one
This was better than anything Hollywood has put out
Felt like a scene out of the Expanse good job
And of course only the UNSC have to work around the limitations of expanse-level ships
Imagine if this is how the Halo TV opened it’d be one of the best pilot episodes ever immediatly drawing the audience in and hooking them for the rest of the season
Dude thats awesome you captured unsc vs covie space combat perfectly
Hot DAMN this was amazing. Such attention to detail and audio full of emotion. This really helps puts into perspective just how completely and utterly outmatched humanity was in the space combat side of things.
This is the second time I've watched this. It's beautiful. It took me to a world other than the one I wanted to be in (it put a smile on my face, in a time of despair.
I can't begin to describe the joy that I felt having come across this work of art. Thank you for bringing some of my favorite aspects of the Halo universe into video reality
Glad you enjoyed it!
You’ve refined these videos very well I think this and the novus massacre are your best ones the lighting and camera angles even the way you’ve implemented score and dialogue was great and it shines in this one, awesome work dude!
I appreciate the space debris, most media ignores how much debris would be everywhere during and after space combat
mission accomplished, 100% casualty rate

This was awesome. Well made, love how quiet it was in space along with lore accurate tactics.
The bravery and "never surrender" of human forces were one of the primary causes of the Covenant Civil War and the ensuing Human-Sangheili victory over the Prophets and their Loyalist. The many books of Halo do a great job tying it all in together.
