I remember in '82 thinking we may have our guy here. Then it kept getting better and better. I'm old now and still remember every # and man playing on that team. They'll be going down in history forever.
Amazing to watch the young, prime, healthy Jim McMahon of 82-83....before all the injuries. His mobility, arm strength, and accuracy were just amazing. If he’d stayed healthy, he could have had a Hall of Fame Career.
"I wanted to be a professional athlete, I accomplished that. I wanted to win a championship, I accomplished that. I didn't want to have a job, I accomplished that. All I wanted was to sit around, and watch my kids grow up. I'm doing that." Jim McMahon
My old man was a Vikings fan, and like a lot of kids in the early 80's I was a Chicago fan in Indiana. To this day I'd take McMahon as my dream QB. Along with all of the Bears defense, and most of the Bears offense in the mid 80's. It was magical.
Great channel. I read his autobiography as a teen in the 80's. I remember in the '90s discovering that the person I was talking to was Jim McMahon's cousin. I instantly turned fan-boy and begged for any stories she knew about him. There has never been another Jim McMahon.
Agreed! Huge McMahon fan, here. You and I must be around the same age because I, too, remember reading his book as a teen in the 80's. I'll be 51 in November. 😂 Time flies!
3:54 “Strong arm…” then he throws a wobbly pass. 😂 McMahon’s tenacity made him who he was as a quarterback. He was always running for his life. He never had the offensive lines that other star quarterbacks had. His career really took a hit when Charles Martin slammed him. To this day, the vaunted Bears defense has not retaliated.
As a ten year old, my best friend was Ken Margerum. We watched Joe Namath beat the Colts in Super Bowl III. He told me that he was going to play in the Super Bowl some day. Damned if he didn't get it done! Way to go Kenny...😎👍
Jim McMahon. 25-0 as a starter for the Bears, 1984-1987. Still an NFL record for consecutive winning starts. And done in a time where you could hit the QB. Beat that, Brady.
Justin Fields feels like the first QB we've had to have that Jim McMahon skillset. Physicality, arm strength, and he carries himself like Jim did. Bear down!!
Chicago thru the 80s only had to win about 3 games to make the playoffs. Because they had an automatic SIX wins .... 2 Lions 2 Bucs 2 Packers So split with Minnesota and win 2 more against the weakest teams from whatever AFC div the NFC central was playing that year and BAM they’re 9-7 minimum. Pittsburgh through the 70s also had the automatic 6 wins. The NFC East was probably the toughest division in the league from 1970-2000 with 13 SB wins and 18 NFC championship wins in that stretch
@ezsmith3765 The 70's Steelers didn't have an automatic six wins in their division. The Oilers made two AFC Title Games in 1978 and 79. In 1975, there were three teams in the Central with ten wins. Also, in 79, the Browns almost joined the Oilers and Steelers in the playoffs (not to mention the Bengals making the playoffs in 73 and 75). What are you talking about?
Ditka knew what he was doing in that Vikings game wanted to let the Vikings think they were going to win then throw McMahon in to win the game and rub into their faces LOL
his years at BYU made him who he was--he hated the school-freakin mormons--he drank, chewed tabackee, cussed like a pirate but they loved him in spite of all that

I think my favorite quarterback of all time.

He squared up no matter what...he was awesome
Jim & Pro football ...match made in heaven & Chicago

Jim was my hero as a kid
Last of an ancient breed.
He's a winner ! Nuff said !

Jim was the guy that fit right in
Jim 'Mad Mac' McMahon, *THE GREATEST QB IN CHICAGO BEARS HISTORY!* we sure miss you, Jim.
Well that’s debatable but he was great!
Debatable is right

Man idk if I’m just a Mac fan but these are the best videos on TH-cam
Greatly appreciated, bro.Lol, rather ecstatic to hear that they’re appreciated.
@@dapunkyqb1679Is this Jim by any chance?! If so, I'm a huge fan! If not, please forgive me! 😂😊
If this guy had been a couple inches taller and 20-30 pounds heavier, he would have been a HOF. It’s a wonder he was ever healthy
this guy was great
At 10:25 the no look pass is excellent
Best quarterback back the Bears ever had in my life time .should have been a lifetime bear.great job mc caskeys in ruining a dynasty team

WOW!! What a cool story! Thanks for sharing! I loved Jim McMahon and the '85 Bears! They were magical!
Not the best but good
And a man at heart.
My fav

Love that comment lol 👍
The defense of the bears had almost all to do with that, also some guy named Walter Payton😢

1:47 Upon further review, the call on the field is overturned.
In my humble opinion, Jim IS a Hall of Famer.
If courage and intelligence were considered factors, he’d have been a shoo-in, that’s for sure.
Justin Fields feels like the first QB we've had to have that Jim McMahon skillset. Physicality, arm strength, and he carries himself like Jim did. Bear down!!
The Best QB hard working strife for perfection professional to be the best and that he was the greatest
Mike should've thanked his lucky stars Jim was stubborn enough to make the Bears good. Lol #BYUcougs baby
The music needed to be lower. Couldn’t hear what anyone was saying
Jim McMahon want my mom high school and I was bears fan and my dad was bears fan bears is best team

JIM MCMAHON was a badd QB .
Agreed, bad Quarterback

Yeah right. That's how it went. It was Ditka all along.
@@SECRETARIATguy224 lmao 🤣 😂
They would have gone 16-0 in '85 had he started every game. Fuller sucked for the most part but made a few plays here and there.
Absolutely false.
Music is to obnoxious. 👋by
No Jim McMahon
No Buddy Ryan
No 🏆 for Ditka
