My 17 year old son is 300lbs and has never played sports. The school has tried really hard to get me to let him play but it will never happen. I don’t watch sports and refuse to see my talented strong son play a game that will ruin his body. He has been training under me since he was 7 to be a blacksmith and welder. He will live a good healthy life because I have protected him from being coerced into sports and instead have passed on my skills to him which bought us the farm we own outright. He eats food we grow without pesticides or gmo seeds and knows how to work the soil without depleting it. All our food animals are fed stuff we grow and he has also learned to build his own bows and arrows both stone tipped and steel, and is a better hunter than I ever was because I started teaching him young.

Jim co founded an organization called Gridiron Cannabis Collonation. It's goal was to allow NFL players to treat injuries with CBD and Cannabis. CBD and Cannabis have been medically proven to help reduce the symptoms from concussions.
This just in, hitting your head repeatedly is bad. People thought maybe it wasn’t a big deal but turns out, yes, it’s a big deal. Your head (brain) is remarkably important. It’s weird because you’d think the opposite but no.
I’ve always said Football plays should be one of the few who should make crazy money. They gave up more than baseball or basketball or golf. Players. A football player is more physically destroyed. When their done.
I love watching football but now that we're seeing what it does to so many people in terms of brain injury I really wonder if it makes sense for people to even play the sport. Who needs that kind of risk? There are a lot of other sports.
Mac is correct everyone from pro football to peewee league knew about had injuries when I wanted to play when I was little my mom said no because of head injuries.............. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
“I didn’t know getting hit in the head was bad for my brain.” Saying that makes somebody question whether the person had a brain in the first place. What normal thinking person would think getting hit in the head numerous times was not going to have consequences. All you have to do is look at boxers, the term punch drunk comes to mind. Punch drunk doesn’t mean drinking too much punch either.
When you’re young you feel invincible. We didn’t know about how serious concussions were back in the 80s You would think they could come up with a better helmet today. I think the nfl should take care of their wounded veterans
It’s the price you pay if you want to play football, box, or any other heavy contact sport. You are not obligated to play the sport. We all know the dangers of repeated head trauma. People will always play for the fun, money, fame. But, after it’s over, you really can’t blame anyone but yourself for deciding to play.
When I was 11 I got into football. 1985 Bears of course so my favorite first player was Jim McMahan. I had the jersey the head band with #9 McMahan on it for hallowen . Then I realized I was a Lions fan cause I lived 5 minutes away from Silverdome. It has been a miserable fandom until now in 2023/24. 39 seasons of mostly crap!!! NO MORE!!!! #OnePride
I played football and got the crap beat out of me. I knew how dangerous the sport was before any studies came out. I assumed the risk and I would not blame another for any injury I suffered. These pro football players had to know that lingering effects from injuries were a possibility, including brain damage. From now on, the NFL should have all players sign a waiver of liability stating the potential for serious injury and/or death could occur as a result of playing the sport.
i watch the movie concussion thirty times i was nieve enough to think nobody is going to play football or boxing anymore i think the price is way to high for human amusement ...the athletes ending is just sad ...............!!

Jim was nuts before ever getting hit in the NFL.
This he was unhinged from the beginning
My 17 year old son is 300lbs and has never played sports. The school has tried really hard to get me to let him play but it will never happen. I don’t watch sports and refuse to see my talented strong son play a game that will ruin his body. He has been training under me since he was 7 to be a blacksmith and welder. He will live a good healthy life because I have protected him from being coerced into sports and instead have passed on my skills to him which bought us the farm we own outright. He eats food we grow without pesticides or gmo seeds and knows how to work the soil without depleting it. All our food animals are fed stuff we grow and he has also learned to build his own bows and arrows both stone tipped and steel, and is a better hunter than I ever was because I started teaching him young.
as long as you are doing what your son wants, if it's about what you want then you're a shitty parent
Sports are good for kids.
Let him play weirdo
Good for you. I would let my kid play sports, maybe baseball, tennis, basketball, or golf, but tackle football - NEVER.
Sports are so good for kids especially young men!!! The fact that you won't let your son play sports is actually hindering your son!!! People die everyday from all kinds of things
Also if you teach the kids how to properly play the game of football their chances of developing CTE diminish greatly!! Not to mention that they have changed rules and equipment to protect the players from getting this...
I wholeheartedly believe one of my sons would still be on this earth. if I knew then what I know now.CTE is real
It was different years ago, there just wasn’t an awareness out there. Now we have to educate others about CTE prevention, sorry for your loss.
I Love Jim McMahon he reminds me of T.B.
He most likely already has CTE and his career was marked by a whole bunch of injuries including multiple concussions. Didn't help that he played on astrotruf and he rarely slide when scrambling.
Mac was the last really good QB for Da Bears!, Hope he will be able to have a good as possible quality of life after his experience with playing in the NFL.
I found the 85 bears documentary on blue ray DVD in the dollar tree. Couldn't believe it. It was a steal.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I loved Jim McMahon and I still do ………… let’s all go to Sugar rock Candy Mountain
"Walk it off!"---My dad 1985.
That's how concussions were dealt with back then.
And then came the Miami Dolphins and Dan Marino on 1 monday night and f..up their perfect season
This is why the NFL is inevitably moving towards flag.
Lost my life to same disorder headaches everyday since 18 years old just got worse
biggest show in America it was the whole team even Chicago was in it
Jim co founded an organization called Gridiron Cannabis Collonation. It's goal was to allow NFL players to treat injuries with CBD and Cannabis. CBD and Cannabis have been medically proven to help reduce the symptoms from concussions.
Eh. Self reporting and very little real evidence for this
I went to high school with Jim in San Jose superman type of guy
This just in, hitting your head repeatedly is bad. People thought maybe it wasn’t a big deal but turns out, yes, it’s a big deal. Your head (brain) is remarkably important. It’s weird because you’d think the opposite but no.
McMahon is as authentic as they come.
Anyone here suffering from
cTe I would like to speak to you about in how you deal with it and symptoms?
I remember playing in 8th grade. On kick off n I got my bell rung so hard. I knew it was NO freaking good man. I quit...
They took up a violent & dangerous game and they're surprised at the damage done. Incredible.
🙏♥️🙏♥️
THE most dangerous game the world bar none. Full stop.
Joe Namath has used hyperbaric oxygen chambers to help to heal thus, more players should try this.
Research shows this is no merit
"why is it their always right?"
I’ve always said Football plays should be one of the few who should make crazy money. They gave up more than baseball or basketball or golf. Players. A football player is more physically destroyed. When their done.
Boxers are right behind football
I love watching football but now that we're seeing what it does to so many people in terms of brain injury I really wonder if it makes sense for people to even play the sport. Who needs that kind of risk? There are a lot of other sports.
Jimbo looks pretty damn good.
ironically, I saw this video again, ~ 2 years later then my literal comment below, I am 9 months into my Early Dementia Diagnosis. I saw it coming...
Mac is correct everyone from pro football to peewee league knew about had injuries when I wanted to play when I was little my mom said no because of head injuries.............. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It's not football fault they teach us not use our heads to hit with!!! Keep your head up when hitting and don't use your head as a weapon!
This is not the responsibility of the NFL
Those who choose to play take the risk. It’s called taking responsibility for your own actions.
They all knew of the risks involved but decided that a glorious bank balance outweighed all of the negatives.
This is when football was football
“I didn’t know getting hit in the head was bad for my brain.” Saying that makes somebody question whether the person had a brain in the first place. What normal thinking person would think getting hit in the head numerous times was not going to have consequences. All you have to do is look at boxers, the term punch drunk comes to mind. Punch drunk doesn’t mean drinking too much punch either.
I won a donut on thst Super Bowl betting my dad. I was 5 and that was like winning the Lombarde
When you’re young you feel invincible. We didn’t know about how serious concussions were back in the 80s You would think they could come up with a better helmet today. I think the nfl should take care of their wounded veterans
3:01 Junior Seau was like that...
how many times did he deny that he was hurt to coaches and medical staff? he likely denied more injuries than he admitted to staff.
NO MORE!!!! #OnePride
They were even better in '86. Should have won it that year, too.
The NFL has has tried to avoid taking any blame for the games resulting, long term brain injuries. This has to change.
His doctors that McMahon goes to in NY to drain his brain are actually atlas orthogonal chiropractors who specialize in adjusting the first two bones in the neck.
The 3 m's. They should have done an m and m commercial back in the day. So much fun to watch football back then. Thanks for the entertainment boys, lots of fun watching the three of you. Marino, Montana and McMahon.
Praying for relief of any pain you are suffering.
Guessing the money wasn't worth this outcome.
Just like Muhammad Ali and others getting pounded constantly on the noggin.😡😡😡💪💪💪
If they would have been smart with their money they would have put money back for their health when they get older
We're gonna get the medbeds soon hang in there. They will help you and Steve.
Controversial yes but I’ve always respected Jim.
Let's do the dance called the Super Bowl Shuffle..85-46
Don't forget to mention the effects the use of performance enhancing drugs, pain medication, drug and alcohol (abuse) use had on CTE as well. All were ramped in the 70's and 80s
This story of cte sort of went away. It will resurface again. I don’t think tackle football will be around in 2-3 decades. In the meantime, I hope the players r getting the best medical care.
